I have the original "Ventures on Stage" album on 33/1/3. It was recorded in Japan, not sure what year, maybe 63 or 64. All the songs are slightly different than all of the live versions listed here. They do a medley of their best songs and an absolute butt-kicker version of "Caravan". however, the screaming audience in the background at the beginning of each song is annoying.
awesome!!! classic ventures, i played this in the 60s in hawaii with the Vi-Crons. we played on the island of maui, mel catugal drums, jimmy catugal guitar, charlie dapitan bass and i on guitar. goofun!!! this one and hawaii 5-0, probably the hottest venture classics, oh and nutty from their Christmas album. great post!
Love seeing those three Fender Bassman piggy-back amps on stage. All guitars jacked straight into the amps, no effects, just straight ahead real guitars.
japanese import albums were just arriving probably due to the receptive audiences in japan and the cut outs / which gave the american listening audience another version of songs from their favorite bands / acts.
they were cool and still are to this day.
Las Vegas had the rat pack / the average dude in the usa at the time had the Ventures.
Wonderful -- what marvelously talented and hard working musicians The Ventures were. One of my all time favorite bands, and "Slaughter on 10th Avenue" really showcases their talents. Thanks a heap for sharing and posting this music video -- great stuff!
ah yes, those twangy Mosrite guitars§§ when I was a kid you could barely find one let alone buy one thanks to the ventures who made them famous and expensive.
