"international waters" The IHH ship was boarded 12 miles outside of Israeli waters, not the middle of the ocean. You would still be making the unsubstantiated claim of "piracy" if this event took place a mile from Israels shore.

The flotilla sailed from Turkey, a NATO member and ally of Israel. Israel withdrew from the Gaza strip in '05. Egypt also participates in the Gaza blockade. The IDF were attacked first. those people were defending their ship in international waters. It was the Israelis who saw fit to board a boat whilst carrying guns.... what else did they WANT to happen? sigh. And what's this got to do with 'peace'? It was about getting supplies through, and being pacifist in this situation simply equates to Israel confiscating all supplies and them never getting through. It's only a shame the activists didn't have lots of guns.

@UltimateBabone The IDF were attacked first. The activists knew violating an internationaly recognized blockade would provoke an Israeli military response. Israel offered to escort the flotilla to shore. The activists refused and made it clear that they intented to make a statement, not deliver supplies. Tons of aid have already been, and will continue to be delivered to Gaza.

Also, contrary to popular beliefe, the flotilla was not sent by turkey, that particular portion of it departed from turkey and was made up of people from over 35 countries, including Isreal.
