a song from Lata that seconds to none other. This song was come by accidentally while browsing through youtube. After listening to it several times in one sitting I still want more.
Listen to the voice of Lata some 60 years go matching so well as playback for beautiful Suchitrasen.... with lesser tech in those days, the tunes, recording and sounds were actually lot better.
I vividly remember this as one of the songs a bhikaran , who used to come to our place begging for roti and kapada , used to sing . I was a boy of around 10 then. Since then, for more than 50 years I have listened it on number of times and remembered this beautiful master piece often though today is the first time I could see the video and came to know the name of the film and the actress . A lot of thanks to you bhandarik2 and to you tube.
Dear All, This immortal melody is the rarest gem conceived and created by two GR8 Maestro Rajinder Krishan ji( Lyricist) and Hemant Da (Kumar), the composer, who gave us Anarkali, Nagin, Miss Merry and many more, Hats off to these Stalwarts who came to India , to shower us with Love, Peace and everlasting melodies, No match, such songs would have been decorated with OSCARS, but these are above any Award, from a different World , you listen 100 times, still thirst is on - Dr. R.K.SHARMA
bha arsa se talash thi iss song ki. lata jesa singer aaj tak nai suna.lata ka romantic song b ho to aansu bhar aate hain. MAALIK ne kya dard aur sur se nawaza hai lata g ko. LOVE U LATA G. Imran 4m Gujrat Pk
Its treasure... thank God these songs are now preserved electronically....its pleasure giving capacity is not going to diminish in all time to come...
My mother used to hum this song when I was very young boy. Today she is no more there but I feel like crying after hearing this song after so many years.
@amscia God made mothers and children, so that we may have soft corners in our heart. Even the memory of the soft touch of my mother's everyday sari melts my heart.
@amscia for me, this song reminds me of my mother who passed away when I was abroad....so unfortunate I could not even go to see her for the last time and lay her to rest....Afsos....
wow.... great.... amazing.... i am speechless after listening to this song and since ages i could not get the chance to listen. thanks so so much dear friend.
@bhandari2k mother of Munmun Sen and grand mother of Rima and Raina Sen !!!!!!!! Now the yester year stars get recognized by their children name.
Suchitra Sen was a great star of the Bangla film industry, in Hindi she had very few films, Champakali, Bambai Ka Babu, Mamta, Aandhi, that I know of.
What the hell. what is this? How can someone compose music like this. How can someone be so talented and why do people listen to the music in movies that are made now. I hope India preserves its old treasure of music because I don't think in future any comparable music will ever be produced. I can only remember my childhood in India but that seems like a dream. A gone past that now seems like something that was never there. It makes you feel very sad in this materialistic modern world.
Extraordinarily sweet Lata song. Very moving lyrics of deeply-felt longing for the missed sweetheart of Suchitra Sen's character. Superb music by Hemant Kumar. The heavenly bansuri interludes are by the peerless Panna Lal Ghosh, I gather. Thanks, bhandari2k.
@chamogaa I am sixty today and this song took me back half a century. Wonder what prevents music directors today from creating such melody and souldfulness
@bharatbakhda . I think the old composers had their roots in our own glorious classical tradition. The new ones with some rare exceptions seem to parrot the coarse, noisy popular music of the west. They and many listeners think it's"cool." I think It's pathetic.
Since long I was looking for this song in my mind. Yesterday I stumbled upon this song in U tube and I have listened this at least 30 times till now. Every time it plays it stirs my soul and touches all the strings of my heart.Tears roll down. I wonder how this type of music flows from human. It must be from Heaven. Kahan gaye oh log, kahan gaye oh sur !!!!!!!

Exactly like 'amscia', my mother used to sing this song. Today, at the age of 60 also, I cry, when I hear this beautiful melody.
