  • I used to live on a council estate until I moved to America to go to college. I still have a huge fear of living in those shiteholes again. Americans have it good!

  • I voted for Mark Oaten back in 2001. Arsehole.

  • I could rough it for two weeks,Dont know if i could do it for twenty years though.

  • @lukaboy83ldn oh shut up you mug

  • The government fuels the problem of having people on benefits that are capable of working,If the government sets a minimum wage then benefits should be paid at just under minimum wage regardless of how many kids they have.

  • I would like like to know what theese people are doing to try and get off benefits and make a better life for themselves,Other than trying to win the lottery. If theese people can afford to drink, smoke, buy canabis, adorn their bodies with tattoos, subscribe to internet providers and cable TV and buy computers,Then their lives on benefits are not that bad.

  • Exactly I dobt give a fuck what any of the liberal whingers on here say. NO ONE SHOULD GET MONEY FOR NOTHING, whilst hard working people who saved and pensioners are living in even worse poverty. This government has slit the economys throat with its crazy policies designed to buy the loyalty of the scumbag masses. No wonder half the world is headed here, they know all they have to do is get to our shores and their set for life.

  • These scumbags are ridiculous. They all seem to have 5 kids, yet can't afford them, they all seem to smoke 50 ciggies a day, are alchoholics, druggies etc, yet moan they have no money. Sadly, lots of people are like this in life, I call them losers, they are so thick and moronic, they are incapable of saving money, working hard, or doing anything to help themselves. They rely on the rich, and the hard working people for their welfare, and then blame us when it goes wrong, Haha, I'm still rich.

  • ive had the best of both worlds perfer council estates for action as it does get incredibly boring on private estates and can get a bit psychotic hoping for stuff to blow up or some kind of destruction, i lived on 60k for 5 years and another 4 years on 45k just the morgage n car takes a huge lump then with the kids stuff and my cigs which is my only pleasure as i dont drink im broke for another month so can imagine what its like on benifits not something i could adapt to again

  • These people who are always pleading poverty & claim to be on the bread line seem to all have 50 kids & smoke a million fags a day.

Surely if you can't afford one kid, don't have anymore.

Get you priorities right and Austin you really are stupid!

  • Who cares about these scrounger, welfare reliant, criminals and yobs? Not me, haha, the welfare system is great to me, it keeps so many people in poverty, that they have the most awful lives, and that always puts a smile on my face.

I worked hard in school, at uni, I'm now a chartered accountant and make a very high salary. I couldn't care less about these lazy, thick, ignorant little prats. And you can all insult me scumbags, but I win, because I own my own house and have a better life, hehe.

  • abit harsh ,these areas are deprived as most jobs go oversesas its nothing to do with qualifications unless there willing to move, its about availability of work so i wouldnt be to quick to judge, if your area of work went overseas and you decided to stay for family reasons i wouldnt call you thick and lazy for downgrading, but i once felt secure too so i know what you mean

  • More importantly, why is it taking a TV programme to force MP's to actually see the people they represent.

People struggle and are trying to get by. Sadly, MP's are quite happy to believe the hype that everyone on benefits is a work-shy scrounger. They don't realise that the system they brag about is what keeps people at a low level.

It's easy to judge people when you are not at the recieving end of these "fantasic" government schemes. I used to judge before I saw the reality for myself.

  • I think that's the point of the show. People "at the top" are just out of touch with what's actually going on.

There's another great show about company presidents going undercover to see what it's really like working at the ground level. It's called "Undercover Boss".

  • I live in a council house

and am actually quite lucky but there is some people who are ...........

  • I live ina council tower and lifes quite good for me

  • I live on a council estate...life is harder than u might think =(

  • i think most comments on this are from psh snobs (or wanna be snobs). bet they dont live in a flat or maybe even counsil estate!!! i dont but i got respect for people!! people leavin nasty comments should pick up there own shit b4 anythin else!!!!!!!!

  • Ok obviously not EVERYBODY on these estates are scum, but there are plenty who are.

So whats the answer? - Just keep the whole unfair cycle going of (mostly worthless) scroungers and their offspring (and their offspring) being a huge drain on the country? While decent hardworking people struggle to pay their own way in life. I think it time to get tough now and take drastic action for the sake of the future.

  • someone should 'get tough' on you, you complete and utter turnip

  • Remember that a lot of these areas suffered after deindustrialisation.

Look at Brum, areas like Handsworth never really recovered from the loss of manufacturing. Hull the same story, loss of fishing & processing industry. Dagenham one word FORD (or lack of)

We promised these people new jobs as part of the new economy, none were ever delivered. People should remember only 50 years ago the majority of people like those represented in this programme were employed!

  • cont.

One we have to give up the bullshit neo-classical chicago school of economics which failed spectacularly last year.

We need to adjust our economy to restart manufacturing, the kind of which I saw in Kyoto Japan last year, which I was always told in school couldnt be done in high wage economies.

We should copy the Japanese approach of paying people to be in work, susidising their jobs, rather than paying them to sit on their arses.

Teach people how to be better parents if needed

  • Some good points.

  • Thanks mate..

We need to change the economic model we have, it just doesn't appear to be working..

  • HOW about we get rid of the immigrants in barking and dagenham and don't say racist because i dont give a fuck GET RID OF THE AFRICANS why is everyone carrying blades? one word: FEAR

  • i think u have all got it wrng i live in them flats n for 1 u aint aloud dogs in the flats n also it aint the residents that make the flats like that its the people that dont live in them that come up n abuse the flats and as for 1 more thing we do work ok so keep your opinons to yourself u dont know us to critsize us as a person or the way we live as a comunity!!!!!

  • These people let their dogs shit all over the place then complain that the place is a mess. Maybe if they had paid for it all themselves they would take some pride and treat the place with more respect. Why bother to keep giving to these people they'll never appreciate it.

  • 0:54 to 0:57 just makes me laugh so much

The foods all over the floor and the babys shat itself LMAO so funny

  • Lol the kid who said to him about the rent boys lulz

  • Watching this now, fuck these people. They grow up thinking that the government owes them a life. Dont like living on a coucil estate? Then get a job and get out. Stop complaining you made your own situation.

  • Well said!

  • ignorant much

  • fuck off you sadact cunt

  • @garibaldi54 I live in Dagenham and it is a shit hole but what the fuck can I do i'm only 16 ffs

  • Study hard and get a job, then support yourself like decent people do.

But I expect you'll probably have 4 kids and live on benefits as thats an easier option.

What these people have may be shit but the deserve nothing. What have they given to society nothing they just take and complain that its not enough. Fucking steralise the lot of em!

  • @garibaldi54 your obviously born into a lovely set up rich life then? it aint that easy once your in there its hard to get out trust me.

  • LMAO my dad works a manual low paid job and my mum's a housewife. We never had much when I was young I did'nt get my first bike until I was 11. But my dad worked 10hr days (and still does aged 62) and we paid our own way in life. I am only a printer but managed to own a house outright by age 30. I see these people everyday who just cant be bothered and have the mentality that the 'earners' will pay their way for them. They're not prepared to work for anything unless its massive wages.

  • They dont want massive wages,They just want masive benefits.

  • I wish I could phone up the council and ask them to refurbish my house for me, do you think they would? Or maybe just pay my council tax, that would be nice, let alone all the other benifits these people are getting. And I'm the one who's been paying taxes and N.I since I left school.

  • 'phone up the council and ask them to refurbish my house' loll where does this happen?! You can't just group everyone who lives on a council estate together as 'these people' and write them off. Telling a 16year old who you know nothing about that they'll amount to nothing and saying you should sterilise everyone who lives on a council estate??seriously? Be thankful for the stable upbringing that you clearly had because a dumbshit like you wouldn't have got further than the park bench without it

  • It happens all the time, did'nt the woman in this documentry want he house redecorated because there was some mould on the wall, and I know people in coucil accomodation who've had new kitchens and bathrooms, double glazing ect. Also when did I tell a 16 yr he personally would'nt amount to anything? And yeah why should people who cant afford to bring up kids and offer them a decent future expect the rest of society to bear the burden, and further continue the cycle. People like Karen Matthews?

  • Comment removed

  • er im guessing she wanted the mould removed for her familys health?not like she was asking for a full scale replica of the sistine chapel ceiling in her living room is it. So what if someone in a council house gets a new kitchen-itll be because it needs it,not to look pretty. &if they could afford to buy a new kitchen themselves then they wouldnt be in a council house in the first place.Just above,to golly. What has Karen Matthews got to do with it? her problem wasnt being poor,it was being crazy

  • YOU ARE A SCHITSO PRICK.

  • why we try to one in here ( HK)

  • Ahh good times, can't wait to watch this

  • i wish we could do this in america.
