Everytime I see this scene at the end of Season 4 its very deep & depressing but so awesome at the same time. If your and Anime fan and have seen Macross DYRL this whole sequence in this shot seems very familiar when they find Earth.
I'd actually be more interested in an Earth miniseries where we learn more about the backstories of the Final Five in the lead up to the destruction of their world and their journey to the 12 colonies to "save" them.
13th tribe are cyclons that stopped using ressurection as it was unnessasary for them since they could reporduce sexually. 12 colonies created cylons again, cylons-centurians are convinced by 13th tribe to stop the war in return 13th tribe help create 8 humanoid cylon models. Cavil #1 [John] boxes daneil #7 out of jealousy, traps and kills final five then reprograms thier memories and sets them up to be horrifically tortured by both mind and body to make them see that he was right all along.
Jon Cavil was responsible for Earth ones destruction.
Brother cavil is the downloaded Cylon #1 who will appear in Caprica series we hope.I can now surmize that Zoe U-87 will not be the leader of the Cylons on the Caprica series.
wow cylon earth thats a slap in the face lol and for sum reason something tells me it may not be our earth, i meanin episode 12 they alredi moved on from earth..so THATS IT all that for a single episode of "earths a shit hole", cause they wouldnt return there would they...i mean its nuked so its uninhabitable....hmmm so they wont go back....and why couldnt they have shown us a single dam continent not too much too ask!
Its interesting that so many assume that this is New York. We're obviously so used to devestated-Hollywood-towns being New York that we even identify this little stump as the Brooklyn Bridge.
Everything is possible since we have not enoough information many pre-historic civilizations whose knowledge we are taken aback as sumerians, egiptians, mayans and many others. Where all their ancient greatness came from?
Kendra Shaw resurrected as Hera? That would be interesting.
But I have to say, I'm totally stumped about who the finale cylon is. I do like where they went with earth being the home of a Cylon colony though, blew my mind. :)
I was not as surprised about Earth being settled by Cylons as the 13th. Tribe, it had a nice twist. But the revelation of the last Cylon was real surprise. The whole fox hunt story follow by the revelation was stunning. I hope that the next episodes continue to be great, I also stunned Luanna (I am right ?)'s suicide, it was a shocker sorts of (there was a built up) after she picked up the children's toys from the groud and kissed her husband goodnight.
Sorry, dog typed that^. Anyway the speculation at 0:52 makes no sense. The Cylons are supposed to be a fairly new invention, right? If earth has gained status as only myth that suggests they left Earth thousands of years ago and kept lousy records.
But if all of this has happened before, then there's really no such thing as a new invention... just the most recent permutation of a cyclical invention.
My theory is none of them are Cylons(Tigh , Chief,Anders ,Tory.),but are human with close relationships and some type of psychic link to the real cylons.
Which are Saul's wife,Boomer or Cally,Kara and Roslin Respectively.
Not sure who the last cylon is probably Geata or Cottle or Kara's Ship?
what you said about resurecting a dead charecter made me think, back in the first season ties wife is given the cylon detecter test n she passes but gaus n six talk about how guas is leting everyone pass n when six asks about what her test realy said guas says he will never tell
well when he test boomer it works (she was the first test and then again if baltar new she was a cylon when he found out about the final five he would have done sumit
In good writing, you can't have "the one who did it", in this case, the last Cylon, be a new character that you never had a chance to guess about in the first place. You're not allowed to add a new character and "place the blame" on him/her if you're a writer of Ron Moore's caliber. It would be like ending the final episode in a dream sequence, none of it really happened. Think about how disappointing that would be...
This explains why Leoben and Starbuck have that strange connection. During her vision of being at her mothers deathbed, Kara, asks the man next to her if he is Leoben, and he responds by saying, "I never said I was." Thats because he is meant to be a vision of her father.
Also, the Leoben cylons are modeled after Starbuck's father, who was captured by the cylons during the first war. Remember when Adama encountered him during that flashback in Razor? You see the original Leoben accompanied by an unidentifiable blonde girl, who must be Starbuck's mother.
I believe that Starbuck's mother was the 5th, and the visions that Starbuck has are inherited from her mother. The scene in which she has a vision of being at her mothers deathbed with Leoben right before she disappears into the cyclone is also an indicator. So,in an indirect way, Starbuck is the 5th or at least the final component in some master plan. Rewatch the episode "Maelstrom" with this in mind.
One last question(maybe). Who/how/what is this Colonial locator Signal from Earth and why is there a relationship between it and the Final 4? Is it coming from some proxy of Starbuck's viper on Earth? Is the brand new viper the same viper Starbuck flew into the Nebula w/? Is Starbuck the same Starbuck that returned in S4?
Hasn't Balter found redemption rationalizing himself as a mere tool of the One true God ? Does Gaeta need redemption? He helped the resistance & was redeemed in S3. Ellen betrayed the resistance and was murdered by a cylon. But would D'anna ask her for forgiveness if D'anna wasn't involved in her murder? Does Ellen seek redemption
for betraying humans & helping Cylon? but she is not human.
Is death shadow? Does her betrayal/redemption = the show's climax?
If the 5th is still in shadow - does this mean it has been in shadow entirely throughout the series - or only in shadow as the 5th? Crawl toward the light? meaning enlightenment?
Enlightenment to what - the 1 True God, or the lie of the 1TG - or????
I think the 5th is someone dead, and resurrected as themselves (not some kid). The 5th is with the opposite side of the cylon civil war and will become a bargaining chip.
Makes for an interesting plot, and leaves us guessing.
I'm kind of disappointed, Planet of the Apes (70's) did it better, there's no shock value here. I would have liked to see a really f-ed up Earth about 7-8 years in our future, a world as challenging and morally ambiguous as the rest of the series. Earth is mud, yeah, so maybe that's only 20 years off, but who are they going to meet here? That blond guy from Road warrior with the airplane? Tina Turner? Maybe children living in the burnt out shell of NYC are still waiting for the Macy's Parade?
I personally hope it's not a "dead character who was resurrected as one of the kids" explanation. That just seems like a huge cop-out to me. I'm still looking for it to be a character we already well know, still in the Fleet (it could still happen, even given D'Anna's statement), and not activated yet.
The bigger question is what is the role of the Fifth? We're already on Earth (presumably), so what do we need the Last Cylon for? I hope they've got something good for us.
I think that's impossible. Given that we know the Adama family tree, it makes Zak's identity less suspect. RDM would have to give an elaborate answer for how he could be born and still be one of the pre-existent Final Five. It's not unthinkable, but unlikely given the time left.
I am leaning toward Joe Adama myself. He would fit the profile better than any other Adama.
i think Zak would make a better cylon, just imagine the look on the old mans face when he finds out his son was a cylon and hes back, as for how maybe the final five are born in normal families randomly or trough some sort of blood line
It just means he'll be appearing. That's all. It doesn't mean he'll be the Fifth. It could all just be a series of flashbacks. He WAS close with Starbuck, and Bill, and Lee. The flashback would be important, but no more so than Carolanne was for Bill.
You're jumping to a conclusion if you assume that just because he'll appear, he HAS to be the Fifth. You still have the family tree issues to solve.
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to ask that question!! I built a clean background plate in photoshop from selections of the original that had no actors in it. Took longer to do that than anything else, actually. It's a 7400x1900 pixel image scrolling in the background. It's so sexy that it's my computer's wallpaper now :)
My first choice would be Zak, but having just watched the episode "tigh me up tigh me down" i think there's an outside chance that its Ellen Tigh. After all, why did Baltar give Adama a bogus test result on her blood, and why is Six so delighte when Baltar says "I'll never tell"???
