Wow... After having watched Rebuild, this looks so pathetic. No extra arms on Bardiel/EVA-03, no metal-skeleton-like structure taking over the controls in the Dummy Plug, no backmasked start-up-line on the Dummy System, only half the amount of detail on EVA-03's massacring... While I did like this the first time I watched it, I feel that Rebuild is just so much better.
I agree though I think they should have stuck to the manga. It would have been so tragic if Toji actually died. Either way, this scene is the scene that probably stuck to me the most besides some conversations between Rei and Shinji.

@AudioAnime Hahahaha Don't get me wrong. I liked Toji, but you know, it would have been a reaaally shocking scene, way more than it already was, higher in the "Evangelion scene ranking" xD
would shinji have fought back as it was planned to, maybe could have saved touji, took only to break contact with the head to stop the angel, then just take out the dummy plug where touji was instead of it being crushed
@Yelkwood9 on the kids friendly he didnt... on the real one... leg crushed...deadly concusion on the craneum...internal bleeding... he died while hikari was waiting to make him some food... sad indeed, but it was the true ending for touji (anime always makes things softer) from the things the anime comes of... those are pretty dark if you ask me
@Yelkwood9 believe me, i have no idea... they just removed all the deaths and made the ending a stand up ovation and clapping for shinji(you know the true ending comes in the death and rebirth ovas), if they cut the angels being slaughtered they would have cut half of the episodes and the ones watching it would notice
i watched the you can (not) advance movie and this part was too intense for me. this is really psychological and the music they played really made things even more crazy. love evangelion so much though.
@LazrTears I find the effect was lesser in Rebuild, due to Shinji already knowing who was inside and not being able to see the plug getting crushed before his eyes. I think this original version is so much stronger because of that.
