For anyone considering buying a Motorola Devour...DON'T. Terrible phone mine broke after 2 months so they gave me a droid and I couldn't be more happy with it
They should have kept the raised key's on the Droid. That is the only thing that I miss about the Devour, also I miss the fact that you can wipe your phone if someone steals it or you loose the bugger, but it is kinda hard to loose because it is "a brick". The Droid 2.2 FRYO with Flash 10.1 and the d-pad, awesome sauce right there. Oh, the reason that I got rid of the Devour is it was hard reseting when I went to use the hard key's, when I slid it open and shut it. DROID DOES!
I owned the Motorola Devour and the keyboard on that phone is really good, and the Motoblur is a good feature as well. After a little while using the phone, I went through 5 of them untill Verizon upgraded me to the Motorola Droid and in my opnion, the Droid does a lot more than the Devour, but the Devour is mainly for someone that is not used to using a smart phone and wants to "get out in the world". I have only used the on screen keyboard on the Droid, it is very responsive.
@bigZ241 Here is an idea, asshole! How about you make a video, get some hit's on it, also while getting sub's. After all that is said and done, then you can talk shit. I just looked at your channel and you don't have shit on there, so get something out there, then we can see what you have to say. Fucking Troll! I am sure that you are going to have something really witty to say back to me, or you won't, but hey I don't have anything on my channel, but take a look at my friends, that is all.
@eaturcrap I agree that the Droid is a phone that is put together really nicely. I haven't used the hard key's yet, but I will though. I only have been using the soft key's, because they are really responsive. I guess that I am a little unsure about the flat key's, but again as you said "once you get used to it". I also think that the d-pad is really nice.
ok for one thing this guys got it all screwed up, All android phones on Verison have the same data fee, diff companys have diff prices like Verison vs AT&T. IDK why he put the Devour in this vid because its one of the lower speced android phones, with simple missing features like no auto focus no flash and a low mega pixel cam and small screen
Thanks! your video was really informative! I don't know to much about phones and I wanted to either get a droid eris or nexus one and after watching this video i think I now want a Motorola Droid! lol
ok... so not tryin to be mean... just when u r reviewing u should look at every angle im not saying one fone is better... just u have to look at everything because when someone listens then finds out something that u didnt tell them they get kinda mad they listened and missed out on something.. trust me it happend to me
ok guy.. well u said the droid had more ram in ur video if u wanna check.. and the devour has an up to date processor... and i would know these things because i work for wirefly. also u should not say the fone is $29 for verizon because the relase date for designated verizon retailers is around march 20th. and u should also mention in ur video that if u get the cheaper deal on the fone.. then the monthly internet cost is much more per month ending up to be more money in the long runn...ok...
so i would appreciate it that any one who is interested, especially the create of this video, to read all the comments and especially anyone deciding between the two to read them.. and sorry for posting in increments because there are a limited number of characters. so comment back with what u think any questions and if u need a video response or something i could do that ...
Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed comment. You're mostly right, but the problem is the Devour doesn't make much sense. Motoblur and a nice case isn't enough to overcome everything else (like the screen), but of course that's my opinion.
so all in all..the two phones are nearly identical.. with the droid being better response wise and technologically advanced right now, and a better keyboard. while the devour is far better for social networking and not as good technology wise as of right now but will probably eventually be updated when it comes out. since they are so similar it is up to you if u are involved in social networks a lot (email, facebook, twitter... and overall how u like the fone because of how simlar they are
And also to sum it up between the two fones... the droid has a better all around camera, more responsive touch screen, as of right now better android software, and more stock memory (16 GB while devour is 8 GB stock software), then the devour has motoblur which droid wont get, android 1.6 which will likely be updated to eventually catch up to the droid software when it comes out for verizon toward the end of march, a much better key board, a faster processor, and vcast music and video.
Also you shouldnt be bias in ur videos cuz it screws up facts. Also u missed to say that even though if the price on the devour or droid can be for $50, which its not because i have one. But if u get it for cheaper, then u end up paying a higher required monthly interent fee, which ends up costing more in the long run 2 year contract span. Again hope that helps anyone who needs it
hey guy u are very wrong on the Motorola Devour...if u r gonna review a fone get ur facts right. you stated a couple of wrong facts those would be that the devour actually has a faster processor 600 MHz to 550 of the Droid, also it has the exact same amount of rammand both with the ability to umgrade to 32 GB memory. and in time the devour should catch up with the droid in android software. So hope u will respond to this and hope this helps anyone who need the info
Technically the Devour has a faster processor, but it's of an older style processor that is slower in real world usage. Not to mention a lot of new things (such as Flash) won't likely be supported on the Devour because of this.
I never said anything about RAM or upgrading the memory, but there's no denying between Motoblur (which won't be updated as often as stock Android) the much smaller, lower res screen and the worse graphics/processor the Droid is more powerful.
I went back to verizon and just trade for HTC. I was really leaning toward the HTC, but still you have to download app in marketplace for mms save which was free so who cares I have flash. Still great phone
@mejdam Oh wow. Well point made anyway; the Devour is not a lower specced phone all around. The Qualcomm in the Devour can hold its own against any of the higher end devices. Oddly enough, because the Devour also only has to support the HVGA resolution, it is theoretically more capable. Besides that, it does wonders for the battery life.
im enjoying my Droid Eris... the only thing i dont like is how it backrounds apps youve never oppend. for example. there is a thing called footprints, you take a picture of where you are and the gps feature finds the exact location. it opens and runs in the backround for no reason...
umm... its decent but make sure you charge the battery overnight before using it for a full day as you should do with all rechargable batterys. i was in chicago today and i had it out a majority of the time and it just hit 15% battery at 6:00
waaw, thanks, man, amazing explanation, I like it, Nexus One is the leader of Android and it's also Iphone killer, like it dude! Droid is also amazing phone
Thanks. Yeah I can honestly say that the Nexus One is the first phone I can actually believe is better than the iPhone, but of course the next iPhone will be coming out in a few months so you never know...

I dont know why eveyone is saying that the devour has lower specs
it has a FASTER processor and the same ram as the droid
Proccessor is not that much faster its 50mhz faster than the droid however the devour might have more l2 cache and better video hardware..

Right now the Devour is $29 (cheaper than when I did the video) and the Droid is $50. As for a higher internet fee, why would that be?
duncan33303 1 year ago
@sheaman900 prices of phones dont dicttate prices of the data plan.... It depends on the OS, Android vs Black Berry vs Palm vs Windows mobile,
