I saw Arlo Guthrie @ the precursor to Wood Stock, the Mississippi River Festival on the campus of Southern IL. U. -in Edwardsville, Il.just a super show, just a great summer. This song came from the album Last of the Brooklyn Cowboys, there is another song on that album just as moving as this song, it is the Gates of Eden. Great video, great sound, I felt as though, I was back in the coffee house, playing for tips.

sounds like "heal the world " by michael jackson. Bit too corny, your father woodie would have never done a song like this,..god ..those arrangements..
WHEN IT IS MY TIME TO LEAVE THIS OLD EARTH. I HOPE THEY PLAY THIS SONG AT MY FUNERAL. BECAUSE I WILL HAVE BEEN ON THE LAST TRAIN GOING HOME. God Bless Arlo G.
Arlo's coming to my sleepy little town of Melrose, MA in November. Can't wait! Hey, Arlo, stop on by my house for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner that can't be beat.
No matter what kind of mood I'm in, I can always listen to this song and feel better about myself afterwards. I think that speaks volumes not only about the song, but the artist as well...
...i was lucky to be at this concert... what an amazing night... the audience was a typical Arlo audience... as he sang played and talked you feel the audience energy drawn to him on the stage....
If you have a soul can't help being moved by this song and in particular Arlo's presentation. Rhanks for posting

Last Train, Hobos Lullaby are 2 of my favourite songs too. Its nice to know how others feel the same way. Hobos Lullaby is such a great album.

Always soooo moving! And Hobo's Lullaby. And Plane At Los Guados. Always about good, ordinary folk, always great! LOVE Arlo and Woody, for all time!

I love these posts... my wife says I waste too much time on Youtube... this is not a waste of time.
louswire 4 years ago 5
The only bigger waste of time would be to actually go to one of his performances.
Hmmmm...
I think I'll do just that in February in Durham, NC.
I have waited all my life for this. I just love WASTING TIME!!!

Arlo Guthrie was my first concert, back in 1996 (was just Arlo & Abe). Best show I've ever gone to, or seen since!
