  • My god, this scene is so great

  • its a metaphor and its a film. boy scouts lol

  • "Its a big decision, how one prefers to die."

Hazel's apprehensive but decides to buy the house anyway, knowing that it might possibly kill her. This scene deconstructs what it is to make a poor decision. The preacher's speech also alludes to this theme.

    this movie is amazing.

  • it took me a couple of days to figure out what this meant, but when it finally came to me it struck me as such a beautiful metaphor. Everyone knows a person in their life who buys the burning house. That despite all logic and reasoning they will continue to "buy the burning house" even though it will never love them back.

  • @anthonymcb They say in the movie "the end is built into the beginning", here choice doesn't just bring a new start, she is also choosing her end. We all get exactly what we want to happen to us and know this subconsciously.

  • how did they keep it burning for so long? i was inn boy scouts and i remember when i couldnt keep it burning and they told me thaat fires cant last for so long? maybe they kept adding more wood or coal

  • Umm- Natural gas fire? The Smoke is probably from incense.
