  • Why did they edit out the jam session in the middle? BULL SHIT.

  • @TheJazzSwings Not a lot of bands can come up with a concept as complicated as Coheed and be true to it. If you want Coheed to play jazz, please look at the entire clip of The Willing Well iv from the Neverender DVD. The improv during that song is unbelievable.

  • @TheJazzSwings Jazz is about improvisation, about a couple of musicians getting together and jamming to a beat. Yes, it is hard to play but that is bc of the dissonance that they strive to achieve during a jam. Jazz is often out of tune but that is the sound that their looking for in order to paint a picture. And jazz wasn't the first kind of music that appealed to the intelligent crowd, that was the romantic period where musician played for aristocrats. CC is a very smart band bc of the concept

  • Musical elitism, yay. Do you realize that you're talking shit about one of the top 5 rock bands of this millienium (in my eyes number 1, followed closely by Protest the Hero). This was punk-prog rock, it's about energy with fantastic instrumentals, not seeing how many fucking saxophones can play together simultaneously. Let's see a jazz musician swan dive into a crowd during one of their own songs.

  • Jeeeeeeez Mic kills that bass

  • hey look! back when caludio gave a shit about live performances!

  • Eh. This is sub par. You wanna see a good live musician? Joe Pass NHOP "Donna Lee" The singer is constantly out of tune here. I mean... really? Musicians are allowed to do that? And you guys pay them money?

  • @TheJazzSwings you wanna try tremelo picking, singing, and infront of hundreds, if not thousands of people.

  • @TheJazzSwings Plus man, jazz is boring. I'm sorry but at a show I want to get in to the music, not bob my head to some 13/24 time signature i can't find the pattern to.

  • @vanhalen021 I didn't say fusion, I said jazz, and when I say jazz, I mean the jazz swings. Swing is 95% 4/4 time. Did you listen to joe pass and NHOP playing donna lee? it's 4/4 man. Real, in tune, practiced musicians, but you know, I guess for some stupid reason, it's popular to listen to 5 or 6 morons spoon feed the over salted, burned nasty beat to the listeners using some stupid china and awful tuning that will make your ears bleed. Totally makes sense to give them all the money and respect

  • Comment removed

  • @TheJazzSwings They tune standard. And I never said jazz musicians aren't talented or intelligent, I simply said it's simply not that entertaining to me. But for you to assume other musicians aren't intelligent or practiced because they don't play jazz proves you have an extremely narrow library of music you listen to.

  • @vanhalen021 I am not assuming they aren't practiced, in fact, I listened all around 2:15 and the guy doesn't have stamina to sing his own songs. It's not an assumption when it's right there. I can name a few heavy bands that do play live rock at a very high level. And when I say "in tune" I mean that the singers pitch all over the place.

  • @TheJazzSwings i didnt bother to read it all, but the pitch change is what makes it real

  • @TheJazzSwings Claudio does sing out of tune in this. But this was back when the band started. His singing has improved several times since this and he never misses a note anymore. And I read your argument. You do have some good points. But know that this is music too. And really, what is the point of music if a person can't enjoy it? This is just something people enjoy.

  • @TheJazzSwings Music is subjective, not objective. You'll have to remember that if you want to appeal to anyone, especially on YT. Regardless, you obviously haven't watched any of their newer live shows, Claudio has developed his voice well and hits his pitches very consistently.

  • @vanhalen021 and as for "getting into the music" jazz is a language, to call it boring is foolish. Jazz is an entire history of intelligent people building off the ideas of the past. Not just in the main statements, but also in their improvisational solos.

  • @TheJazzSwings Are you seriously comparing Coheed to jazz? I know they're both very profound & intricate brands of music, but it's still apples & oranges. C&C is about emotional release--releasing all the negative feelings you have pent up by form of music that grabs you by the soul & makes you want to punch something simultaneously. Jazz is smooth, rock is a constant fluctuation of up & down. To attempt to compare the two shows a sincere lack of musical insight.

  • @samburger077 I am not comparing coheed to a genre, I am comparing them to other musicians, musicians who release negative feelings through intelligent, hardworking music. Most people say "Jazz=Intelligent music" but that is like saying "Doctors=Smart people" but that is not entirely true, in fact there are various flaws with that statement, Doctors are not always smart. They may have a "degree" but there are some morons who parade about being more than they are *cough* kenny g *cough*

  • @TheJazzSwings and then, because so little is thought of the concept of "intelligent music" most people say that if it is intelligent then it must be jazz, like saying a smart person must be a doctor. Jazz, in a real life definition, is music that swings. My user name... The jazz swings. Now, the jazz groove, the swing, is a groove that is highly uplifting, and to people who don't listen to the genre, it is old, but in reality, the swing groove is utilized when the media wants

  • @TheJazzSwings you to spend money, Christmas time. It makes us happy, and you listen, listen good, we all want to be happy. Yeah, we all have some bad stuff going on in our lives, and to communicate that, to release it is important, but the next step is getting up and saying, "yeah, let's move on" and you know what? Who is the main demographic for this unintelligent, out of tune BS? Teenagers, kids who don't understand the concept of moving on yet.

  • @TheJazzSwings So they formed these groups that made this music that is so angry and yelling and broken and they hold on to it through their relationships and then they divorce each other because of some stupid drama going on, it is a lazy music that does not persevere, it does not rise above because it is unintelligent, and I am here to say, there is no pride in unintelligence. I am not blaming the music, I am blaming the mindset that created the music.

  • @TheJazzSwings This intelligent music may have an uplifting groove, but it speaks volumes about the troubles of man. Jazz was really the first groove that embraced an intelligent folk music, a smart music marketed for every single person in the community because it was hard work. Men that played with the rigor of orchestral musicians played in the small clubs available to the everyday man.

  • @TheJazzSwings . Primarily, folk music was unintelligent because people did not get paid to play it; people got paid to play in orchestras, so that is where all the intelligent musicians were. Well, the Negro was not accepted into American orchestras, but man, they could play, so what did they do? They made their own music. These African musicians began revolutionizing music, they worked hard for it, and they loved it. The white musicians realized what the Africans had

  • @TheJazzSwings so they tried to claim it for themselves because they loved the freedom they had to express themselves, and they made money because everybody around them loved it too, because of how hard they worked. It has been a music about overcoming the challenges and adversity in life. It was born from the most oppressed people in America and was played by men who strived to become something not through lyrics and yelling, but through hard work. Jazz sounds smooth from an aesthetic view

  • @TheJazzSwings because these are real musicians, people who spent hours a day, alone, working to create something acceptable. Listen to the jazz and you will hear tension and resolve, you will hear rising and falling in the purest way. So if that music was so great, then what happened to it? Technology happened, the 60’s happened, musical revolution struck again, this time, intelligent music was not stressed, this time it was all about “expressing yourself dude”

  • @TheJazzSwings and they came out crying like babies, trying to express itself with no language. Everybody was high, and it was awesome, and that’s how you got rock and roll, and you know, if the rock music is played intelligently, then it has integrity, but too many musicians are unintelligent, and it just comes out as crap. . Out of tune, worthless crap. “Oh but he is expressing himself” So is the baby, but we don’t give money to a baby.

  • @TheJazzSwings You wanna get mad, fine, get mad, listen to that crap out of tune playing and get mad all day, but you remember, I don’t have an ounce of respect for a man who sings like that live or a person who follows them and says they are the best when it’s clear that the musician is full of crap. If you want intelligent music, send me a pm or something, I would be more than willing to pass along the hardworking music of our time.

  • The dislike bar here is like Lady Gaga's penis. It's small and you can hardly see it but it's still there and it shouldn't be...

  • Claudio was then taken home, made into ground beef and steak, and eaten for dinner by his fans...

  • If for any reason Claudio ever dropped his guitar and jumped into a crowd again a magic red carpet would appear out of nowhere and carry him back to the stage. That amount of awesome can't be held up by any number of people. He had to lower his power level to do it this time

  • i fucking play this song whit my band

  • Peope say that they arent progressive just beacuse they doesnt sound like old school prog rock, same happens with more recent bands, event with not recent bands like porcupine tree, well im pretty sure that the last thing that all these guys want is to copy other band sound.

  • I miss Josh Eppard =( Chris just doesn't fit imo, Josh's drumming meshed with the music so well.

  • @koffinglol Disagree. Epard drumming to world of lines or guns of summer just wouldn't have worked. I like Josh on the albums he played but coheed's new music calls for more demanding drumming.

  • @codebabe facebook search "in our vendetta" they're a local band from here that just needs a singer!! they're really good!! spread the word!!

  • I think they were high during this performance there are some subtle hints that suggest so.

  • @Osama213 what makes you say that

  • @bryceh12321 Go fuck yourSELF BURN IN HELL ON HITLER'S DICK!

  • Claudio stagedove into the crowd -3 what a trooper

  • I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO BE THAT GUY THAT WAS ON STAGE WITH THEM!!!!!!

  • LOL, some random guy just comes in and plays drums with Josh.

  • Back when Claudio's voice wasn't incredibly degraded ;____;

  • claudio is a musical genius, he's the motzart of our generation.

  • I'm drunk and can't be bothered to read 90% of your rant and so to aviod total ignorance I shall simply point out that if you refer to people liking this song as having no musical taste then you are indeed wrong to the highest degree and should quite possibly be hung.

  • two words.............AHHHHHHHHH MAZINGG

  • Nickelback isn't the worst musical act to grace the earth. They suck, yes. But Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Justin Beiber, all the rest of hip hop and techno, there's infinite amounts of failure that can contest that statement, Modestvermin.

  • @Apocol0id i dont think anyone as wildly popular and successful as the names you mentioned can be considered worst musical act

sure some people don't like their music or them but millions of other people do. to call them the worst musical act would be ironic seeing as how well known they are

  • @cursedreject Being well known is one of the reasons they have millions of fans. People who have less drive to seek out better music and instead just listen to the stuff that blares out of the car radio. A million fans doesn't mean a million people with good musical taste. It just means a million people.

  • @Apocol0id "better music" is all subjective and so is "good musical taste". but i guess with both of these points it just supports the number factor not the quality. to each his own

  • @Apocol0id i see where you coming from with that list of musicians, but as much as i don't like her, i think lady gaga needs to be given more respect. I've seen her acoustic performances and her musicology is pretty spot on. but yeh, kesha and beiber are shit house.

  • Co.& Ca. = complete awesomeness+ Subliminal MindFuck.

  • ...any idea for the drums solo at 1:17 ? Oo

  • FUCK THIS. STAGE DIVE MOTHAFUCKAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

  • Claudio's got some crazy hair. :D

  • Claudio and King Buzzo, separated at birth perhaps?

  • where the fuck do you get nickelback from? and get a bigger variety of music you fag cause you obviously dont know what your talking about

  • Massive braingasm just now... Coheed is lightyears beyond anything else going on right now.

  • i wish i liked coheed back then so i could of been here cuz this is such a relaxed show ahhhhh

  • Really early video of my favorite band Coheed and Cambria roughly six months after they put out there first album. At the end of the song, he stage dives into the crowd.

  • YEAH Claudio fucking stage dive!!!!!! Thats sick!!! Wish i could have seen that show!!

  • that 2nd drummer made me laugh ,wtf! Claudio nice stage dive bro :)

  • There's a second drummer around 4:30... what the fuck?

  • @beefcake8888 The first drummer shit his pants when he heard claudio's voice so couldn't go on.

  • @beefcake8888 I think it was just some drunk dude that jumped on the stage and decided to fuck around. If you notice Travis looked back like "wtf" and Josh was looking and him and laughing.

  • i want this song played at my funeral

  • @gunsnroses1345 when i die all the Coheed songs will be playing in order, like as if its the story of the Amory. im dead serious

  • that was amazing. I honestly wish that i was this skilled and could put on a show this good

  • This has to be the best coheed gig ever!!!!!!!! origional lineup (not dissing chris), classic songs and intimate set. Thats what music is really about!!!!!

I hope claudio watches this vid every now and again to remind him what it's all about.

    love u man!!!

  • EPIC

  • This song really shows off Mic's skill as a bassist.

  • Woot love tha stage dive at tha end!!!! so didn't expect that X3 then again it is coheed and fucking cambria!!!!

  • i was in the 4th grade when i discovered coheed. im in highschool now and they still kickass like they did back then

  • @stolench33se i discovered them about 5 years ago and i still get chills every time i listen to this song.

  • @locorocoguy would be cool but they've been around for almost 20 years.

  • travis looks so young

  • haha, claudio started laughing at 2:22, i think he knows he is the only one who can sing that shit lol

  • Claudio Sanchez is fuckin awesome!!

  • stage dive was epic !!

  • CLAUDIO STAGE DIVE FTW

  • whats with the second dude playin the drums

  • @flogyourlog when joshua eppard is in play, coheed and cambrias minions is +1

  • @hehealright well, that much is obvious, but its just healthy discussion about a lovely topic, so ya know, calm down man.

  • @hehealright

dude coheedions unite not attack each other.fuck that we are better then the mainstream shitheads.

  • A-fucking-men!

  • @XpcrewX haha coheedions :D

  • @hehealright well that seems a little harsh that we just didnt discover them until now. i was in 5th grade i think at the time this video was shot. i dont kno that many 5th graders who liked this kind of music. be happy that more people have been able to discover this great band

  • The stage dive wins

  • would you run down past the fence?

  • YES.

  • This version is flawless.

  • I'd fucking love to of seen coheed so early on.

  • You know something? I think I've deciphered a bit of this song, in relation to what happened between him and nikki owen. It would appear on the surface this isabout the amory wars, but i fyou read into the lyrics, i notice a few things. Like in the line "stay until wednesday and write a childlike letter pretending.." I think that nikki wrote him a letter and left when he was expecting her to stay longer, because also in junesong provision he says "Where's wednesday?" under the outro. hmm....

  • That's a connection that was established a long time ago :P

Claudio has said so before in interviews.

Good thinking, just a little late xD

  • i think it might be claudio that wrote the letter. in this scene Coheed is convinced that his children are infected with Sinstar and that he must kill them to save the keywork. A prise show up before he can do so, and ultimately it leads up to Josephine lying on the ground, bleeding out, telling claudio to run and that "he will make it if he believes" he then stows away on a cargo ship headed for some planet, if forget the name. you dont see claudio again until Neverender

  • Coheed DOES kill matthew and maria. He striked josephine with a hammer and the red army comes and takes away coheed and cambria

  • and newos (nikki owen) involvement in this is that Claudio was out late with her, because he had a strange feeling that this was going to be his last night with her, but he did not tell her that. Dude i can tell you this much, I get a few bowls of good bud, my stereo and some coheed. I sit there and type up the story as i see it (it is different for me, i see a lot of my life in it) and then go to sleep xD

  • you know how many times ive listened to this? like 8 BILLION!!! LOVE IT

  • haha 4:39 travis

'damn josh is killin it more than usual...o never mind'

  • Year of The Black Rainbow. Fuck me I cant wait.

  • @campkadeyourself Fuck me as well my friend xD

Most anticipated album right now :O:O

  • year of the black rainbow

  • This is their anthem. if they ever break up we as their most valued fans and followers need to go to claudio's house and all chant the last battle cry at the end of "everything evil"!!!!

  • I'd say In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 is definitely their anthem.

Not to say this isn't an amazing song.

  • And she screamed "Claudio-oh! Dear Claudio-oh! I wish - God damn it! - We'll make it if you believe!".

  • Best live version of this song I've seen

  • Claudio is my hero.

  • BADASS STAGE DIVE!!!!!

  • send me your guitar t_t

  • Best Band Ever! I cant wait for the prequel.

  • do u kno when there next CD is due?

  • april 2010

  • 4:17 drumstick jacking!

  • not jacking. he took the thing- played the drums with josh - then gave it back/dropped it to shake his hand. it was awesome for josh to let him drum along side him like that.

also awesome -> trav lookin back like wtf is all that cymboling going on?

  • Coheed freaking own.

Claudio is a legend and a true magical being ^^.

Singing along to this while watching coheed live was truelly amazing

    One among the fence

  • ahh Coheed! Amazing!

  • OMG when Claudio stage dived, all i heards was screaming lol

  • it kind of seems like people just post comments of their opinion just to fuel hardcore fans in a heated debate lol. its much better for everyone if you just watch the video and enjoy the amazing music contained in it!

  • Mr. DNDFan4LFE you are a dildo

  • lol around 0:53 josh is laughing at something thats how i am i always find something to laugh at when im playing Coheed forever!

  • if claudio jumped on me when i was in the crowd i would jizz in my pants

  • Coheed is nothing like Theory...

  • dude, nickleback? .... I haven't even thought about them in like 10 years... since middle school, fuck. Yeah, coheed is much better than nickleback, sorry dude. peace

    XD

  • Nickleback is awful, Creed is awful, Theory of a Deadman is awful. You have watched every Coheed video trying to make fun of them. I think you are becoming a fan.

  • Really you're going to compare 3 of the most cookie cutter mainstream shitty bands out there to one of the most unique bands out there right now....i don't want to live in a world where people can be so dumb

  • It's not post-grunge. Not even close. I think I speak on behalf of most Coheed fans when I say that Nickelback is the worst musical act to ever grace the earth.

  • couldn't have said it better lol

  • @modestvermin995 i love you for that comment

  • @modestvermin995 true dat, brah.

  • @modestvermin995 any time I see somone post something bad about Coheed I always ask if their favorite band is Nickleback or Green Day?

  • @modestvermin995 what about creed? i think they are worse.

  • @modestvermin995 To grace? I think you meant scar.

  • @Thirdeyechakra I think you're right.

  • @modestvermin995 COHEED ftw! and they are most definitely not post-grunge aha progressive rock son!

  • One word. AMAZING.

  • @l0ngboardfish

    that's three words. hahaha

  • I love all their albums.

I have been a die hard fan since i heard SSTB when i was like 10.

    Bands change, sounds change.

They are still Coheed and Cambria no matter what, they are a amazing, and have been amazing all the way from SSTB to NWFT.

  • amen to that. i was at starland, and it blew my mind. i was also at neverender NYC, also blew my mindd. didnt get to see night 4 so i was a little bummed. missed the last chapter, so to speak. well, i was looking forward to mainly 1 and 2.

    one among the fence

  • Duuuuude... Dead On....

  • brizzima that is so true their original stuff was so amazing i wish i could see them live

  • I just saw them live for the Heaven and Hell tour and people liked the NWFT songs but the crowd freakin lost it when he played Keeping Secrets. I also went to the meet and greet deal they had and it was so cool---they were down to earth normal guys----after they met everyone and signed cd's etc they just shopped around the record store. This is a band with true talent and I just wish they would play more of their original stuff!

  • truely a masterpiece.

  • what i love about coheed is you can never say anything bad about them. their style is incredible and they have perfected and adjusted to each others style.

  • in a way i kinda wish they weren't so big now, i love watching them play in small venues such as this and playing second stage and iksse:3 songs, idk maybe that's just me lol

  • i second this, but love seeing a band that deserves to make it.... well, make it.

and with all the branching they've been doing without straying too far from their real fans, and i love going to show and having to swim through people to get as close to the front as I Can.

  • well, in my honest opinion, being a fan from very early on, i think NWFT was the biggest stray from their original fans possible. i really miss the SSTB/IKSSE days.. i just don't think claudio is capable of writing another song of SSTB quality. i remember being so excited about this band and everything they did -- but i seriously didn't get halfway through NWFT before i threw my headphones down in disgust and walked away

  • I used to feel the same way... but after a LONG ass time i finally got into the new record, and it really is very good. you just can't be expecting to relate it to their older stuff... it's a lot different, but still insanely good.

  • god.... second stage was fucking legit.

im going to see them live in september for the first time (FINALLY) ... ive listened to them for 7 years but ive never gotten a chance to see them live, cant wait!!!

  • dude they are AMAZING, best live show everseen

  • lucky, i need to see them soon. or i will die.

  • AMEN to that guy below me lmao

  • all those biddies got wet when claudio jumped on em

  • this is some epic shit. some epic, oldschool, coheed shit. fuck yes.

  • so nice from philipines ehehehe....

  • Sup with with the random downsyndrome dude playing with Josh? xD

  • 3:54 I came

  • Comment removed

  • Whats with the d-bag on stage followed by another d-bag on stage playing drums with the drummer????

  • it looks like their just in a little bar but fucking EVERYONE know the words

  • CLAUDIO!! YOU MAGNIFICANT BASTARD! I cant believe he jumped into the crowd!! how amazing <3

  • 4:35 looks so amazing how like every bodys heads go at the same time

  • dude!

i didn't notice that until you said something!

haha, but you're right, it looks SICK!

  • I'm so sick of people dissing the girls and wes. If their good enough for the band, they should be good enough for us.

  • I don't want any kind of insulting replay for this comment I'm gonna post, and god, please please don't get me wrong in this, it's just a fuckin comment, I didn't know this guys, thing is they sound like Mars Volta... and it's fucking cool.

  • maybe Mars Volta sounds like Coheed...

  • Best C&C song in my opinion. The fans really get into the performance eh?

  • Yes. In one interview, Claudio stated that the song he enjoyed the most live from SSTB is Everything Evil.

  • What the hell? That dude was just drumming with josh (i think) Now, he probably would've been shot.

  • Haha

  • Guitar hero? ok i think you should buy yourself a guitar and learrn to know the difference between playing an instrument and that dumb plastic imitation shit!!!

  • dude that wasnt a stage dive that was a stage bomb!

  • what is that jackass doin at 2:50
