VALVe has ways of finding out. When Garry Newman made Garry's Mod, VALVe got word of it and made a deal with Garry-To let VALVe sell the game, and in turn, Garry gets a bit of money from his game, but only if VALVe does to. I hope it doesn't turn out like that with this game.

why would they not let valve buy it if they asked? - that would be the ultimate goal for any game i'd have thought. Able to sell your product much more effectively, and possible employment with valve in the future.. remaining independant wouldn't benefit them half as much.
