Wow. Life was so much better in 1982 that it is today. I remember being a 10 year old back then with songs like this on the radio, shows like the A Team on TV and Reagan kicking Soviet ass.
@DOCTOR562 Today's country is the "pop" or "new wave" sound of the 1980s. Back in those days, country music actually was country music not oldies pop stuff that sounded like Huey Lewis or Bruce Springsteen.
@mikecleona It does sound like tune Glen would do......Believe me, Steve listened to Glen when he was learning to play the guitar.....He plays a lot like Glen.....You can also hear a Jerry Reed influence....
The guitar in the photo is indeed a Peavey T-60. I own a black one. Great underated guitars. Chet Atkins actually liked them too and owned one. You can still buy used ones at about 500.00. Steve's main guitar is a red Glaser built Tele with 3 pickups and special switching. Love Steve's music. One of the greatest.
they need to re-issue this album onto CD. I already have "All Roads Kead to You" "Your Memory" "By Now" and "Kansas City Lights" since they were the 4 singles issued. The other 6 songs on the album are killer. Prob my fave country album next to Gary Morris' "Anything Goes"
he had 10 number one songs but no one ever knew...and that was in the 90's, thats not including the songs that reached top ten he wrote for people like Garth and all that...and he damn well owns Nashville these days..what a guy!
I remember when people dressed like this. Fortunately the music sounds better and has a longer lasting impact. In fact, this is one of the stellar country songs of the past 50 years. No doubt at all about it.
my daddy said this song reminds him of me and eric's relationship... so i had to look it up. i don't completely agree, but all roads we take end the same, in eachother's arms....
why can't they put alot of these old Country Western albums on iTunes? I'd also love to see some Garry Morris on here, especially his "Anything Goes" album
Steve played a Takamine guitar for many years...My deceased step dad used to know him and he worked for the company...I had the chance to meet Steve in 1990-great guy.
believe it or not my mdad used to make me listen to horse racing results for him on a country music station...thats how i was introduced to this song.. it was great..country music then was trying to cross-over, wasnt hard to enjoy it..thanx Pop!
I know it's an old Peavey....thinking it's a P-60? It's an oddball guitar, they brought it back a few years ago....plays and sounds good, just "odd" looking in comparison to the Gibsons and Fenders that are so prevalent.
They did, although it was a few years ago...it may have gone out of production again. Might check around some used guitar websites, or check Peavey's official website...they may still produce it.
Yeah Dottie West saw him playing at a club in Indianapolis & she hired him in her touring band as bass player. He actually played bass on the studio recording of "Country Sunshine". After her band, he worked with Bob Luman and then his hero, Chet Atkins took him under his wing.
Yeah this guys right, "I'm Already Taken" was his first song. It really didn't chart that well but he re-recorded it in like 1997 and it was a top five hit. "Your Memory" was his first kinda hit single, and when it became a hit, he left Chet Atkins' band & went out on his own. I love Steve Wariner, he's so awesome.
steves first single was 'im already taken' in '78 and only went to #63. this was single #9, and his first #1, love crazy love was written by the greatly talented deborah allen of baby i lied fame. this song, and some fools never learn are my favorite steve songs.
ACC's #44 song of '82. God bless ya, brother Steve! Thanx for postin' it. Have a blessed week!
