  • I agree !

  • Always interesting !

    Thanks

  • @123must The music of John Coltrane never ceases to amaze.

  • I love that Equinox is in your short list. Mine too. I bring it up, because I always thought the melody sounded like it came from a Jewish Religious service, and tonight is the start of the High Holy Days on that calender. Happy New Year to you and your Jazz loving audience.

  • @speakeasynyc Wonder if Trane ever set foot in a synagogue?

  • @JazzVideoGuy Hasn't everyone been to a Bar Mitzvah? In any case, if he did, he must have recovered (sic) and whether or not he physically ever got into a synagogue, he certainly had "spirit". A Love Supreme.

  • @speakeasynyc Did you know that Willie "The Lion" Smith was also a Cantor?

  • I share the same birthday as Sonny, my mother shares her birthday with Trane. Not bad for one family. My desert island Trane track is "Out of this World" something I call "perfect music". I picked that track 30 years ago, and haven't changed my mind. Whatever my mood, emotional, historical or educational, there seems to be a JazzVideoGuy video to help fit the bill. The Gift that keeps on Giving. Over 800 videos? Geez. Much Thanks.

  • @speakeasynyc Happy recent birthday and we share that same Trane track. Of course there are others just a few steps behind: Crescent, Transition, Equinox, for starters. Appreciate your kind words, and your good taste in music, and video. Blessings to you.

  • Thank you for keeping us updated. I love your vids.

  • @saxxykev09 So glad. Stay tuned.

  • That was the first album that got me into jazz in general. My dad had a copy of Coltrane's "Coltrane" on tape and we played that tape so many times that it melted into my dad's tape deck. Beautiful album indeed, really resonated with me even at a young age. Cool to hear that Mintzer had the same introduction. RIP Coltrane, Coltrane!
