I agree with the others below about the twittering of the fans, but otherwise, fantastic effort! I know how difficult it can be to control the fans and still look classy at the same time!
In my opinion as a professional burlesque dancer, well done seeing this was your very first try. Not ridiculous at all! Gee-wiz people seem to forget you need to start playing around when in learning.
I do agree below, remember not to twitter the fans to much ;o) Great luck to you...
Oh, I enjoyed that so much! It is hypnotic watching. I've added this to my favorite videos. You are wonderful in your movements. The song is perfect. Everything is classy. I particularly enjoy the camera holding still and taking in the space around you. Keep up your excellent work. I appreciate your sharing this.
Not bad, but "Sally Rand" fans were almost the size of Sally Rand! It's so much more glamorous if it's covered up even more! And the fans could have moved around and spun more instead of just twittering like maybe the birds were still attached.
Looks like you have a great start. I look forward to more of your videos in this style to see how you've progressed in your fan work. It's lovely. I heart Sally Rand. I think her work was graceful as well as titillating. There's something to be said about the illusion of nudity. Indeed, as another poster wrote, she wore a body suit. I first saw a clip of her at the Chicago World Fair (I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere by now).
Should check your facts though - NOBODY danced nude in the 1930s. She was arrested and charged with criminal indecency, but she was never actually nude, only so good at the illusion that he authorities were convinced she was actually nude.
Sally's fans were almost as tall as she was - you can get fake feathers at craft stores which would be tall enough for you - if you're trying to emulate her. Very sexy anyway :)
My wife looked up from grading papers and said, "Ohmigod--it's Sally Rand"...and I asked, "who the heck was Sally Rand?" So she told me the story about the "scandal" here in Chicago with the (naked!) feathers. Can't believe I lived here all my life and never heard the story. So now my wife is educating me about the history of exotic dance!!
Reminds me of the first time back in the summer of 1970 when I went for my military pre-induction up at Kansas City and went out to see a couple of the burlesque shows that night... Don't remember who the gal was dancing but from where I was sitting about halfway in the theater she looked good to me and it was a lot different than the strip joints back home that I was used too...
omigosh girl! sexy extroadinary performance! i love it!!!!!!! and teh music is amazing haahah! looks like SO much fun! but all that fan flapping must take some forearm muscle!
this would be alot hotter if you weren't built like a twelve year old Jewish boy in the throes of polio.

Loved the music, though!

that was absolutely ridiculous. Not classy at all like the old girls used to be. Sorry. Keep trying though.
