To all who have posted regarding jeet kune do I have been studing jkd for several years now and in all my time as a martial artist i have come to realise that jkd is a set of concepts which utilise techniques from many different arts without limitation the art which most people think of as jkd is infact jun fan gung-fu when you take a class in jkd you will invariably be taught jun fan as a base from which to progress and develop you're own path which is the real teaching of jeet kune do

jeet kune do is only to take your money.i was doing jeet kune do and my teacher was trained in america iwth a student of bruce lee.he has been training for 30 years and he was charging us a lot and one day a kid came and challenged him to fight which he was doing for 1 year muay thai and the kid beat him.
there is a lot of lin-sil-di-dar stuff in this demo and sloppy bai jong guard positions, the lead leg also straddles the partners front shin instead of jamming it in the trapping and wing chun chi sau sequences. on the plus side it doesn't totally reek of wing chun as most supposed jkd jeet kune do demo's do.
zach..again,in tourney fight the rules applies to both fighters which mean that both fighters respect each other without taking cheap shots.but does that mean bruce has the advantage in the street brawl? i dont think so,cuz he never shown us how he fought in the ring.

jet li is not using jkd jeet kune do. jkd jeet kune do was invented by bruce lee in the 70s. and the guy is not using karate either. historically, his character fights judo practitioners, similar to his teacher huo.

^dude. dan inosanto himself, one of bruce lee's best student said that jeet kune do is not a style. jkd jeet kune do is a philosophy. the only reason bruce lee called it the way of the intercepting fist is because there is no better way of calling it. lee himself said that you guys can called it whatever you want if you do not like the name.

yeh i had seen that interview before.. its true but my mt and kb teachers hated high kicks as they were too slow and a real fighter would see them comming.. in k1 the foot is always grabbed but the guy can always gets back up. in a real street fight someone grabs your foot an your f00ked.. my point is if someone attacks me i dont wanna be messing about with fancy kicks and hands, its gotta be quick and simple like boxing

the character chen jun or chen zhen is a made-up character anyway. the only real person in the film is huo yuan jia. yeah he doesn't do jkd jeet kune do... but the idea of using no style against style is there. when jet was fighting chin siu hou. he was first using the huo fist, but making a decision whether to stay with shinobu or to leave her, he dropped it. then jet just went into no forms and try to adapt with that.

jeet kune do is only to take your money.i was doing jeet kune do and my teacher was trained in america iwth a student of bruce lee.he has been training for 30 years and he was charging us a lot and one day a kid came and challenged him to fight which he was doing for 1 year muay thai and the kid beat him.

there is a lot of lin-sil-di-dar stuff in this demo and sloppy bai jong guard positions, the lead leg also straddles the partners front shin instead of jamming it in the trapping and wing chun chi sau sequences. on the plus side it doesn't totally reek of wing chun as most supposed jkd jeet kune do demo's do.

zach..again,in tourney fight the rules applies to both fighters which mean that both fighters respect each other without taking cheap shots.but does that mean bruce has the advantage in the street brawl? i dont think so,cuz he never shown us how he fought in the ring.

actually jeet kun do is translated to the art of intercepting fist or something, the idea behind it is that instead of counterattacking a move u intercept it, so u aim for the things that start movement, joints, if u attack the joints than they can attack, thats the theory behind it anyway, but yeah it also expects u to adapt to the fight. but it is a fighting style.

jet li doesn't do jkd jeet kune do in real life. but in the movie, he is paying tribute to bruce lee and the story goes that he went to japan and adopted their style along with chinese styles and western styles. he was an educated man. in that sense, this is jet li's own version of jkd jeet kune do.

he only fought exhibition fights but that dont mean he doesnt kick major ass. with the speed and strength it has, bare first, it would only take one punch in the face and youd be done. he was a teacher, a practitioner of his own art, he didn't fight for enjoyment cuz he said so himself that he doesn't like violence. just like all martial art masters they do not approve of violence thats why he didn't fight. but he kicks major ass.

name one major mma fighter who said that. lee was a great man but a fighter he was not. not one fight can be documented of lee fighting in real combat or sport. only exhibition fights were they are show off jkd jeet kune do. there are no offical records or proof of lee ever fighting for real. oh, lee would be owned in pride.

i agree that jeet kune do is a concept, but it isn't just that. despite what bruce lee did later in his training, it still stands as the art of the intercepting fist. later on, jeet kune do could be confused with bruce lee's formless, water-like fighting, in which he mixed everything together without limitation.

i just checked the sherdog website and i thnkbruce would have been featherweight division. not sure if there's anyone i know in that. sean sherk is 5'6''155lbs so maybe he's too heavy. still the point is bruce wasn't a comp' fighter he's a street fighter, headbutts eye gouges etc. lenny mclean would have killed him though!
