@ksmiles203 You're right in the second case. Much like the 'u' sound in words like -desu, -masu, and suki, the 'i' sound in these cases is very understated, almost to the point of non-pronunciation. Whether one pronounces these sounds or not tends to rely largely on their regional accent.

Even though the pronunciation and semantics in Japanese and Chinese is vastly different, its interesting to know we make the numbers exactly the same 二十一. yay our system rules! screw the european irregular system. just kidding. I still found the numbers in spanish easy though once you get used to it. chinese is still easier though.
