Outbreak was quite a scary game when you played it online. I still remember that old, decrepit hospital level with overgrown plants; still gives me the chills... Also you never really knew when your co-op buddies died until you found their bodies laying on the floor in front of you. Its those moments of realization saying to yourself "Okay... I now have to beat all this freaky shit on my own...." THAT was true survival horror, not this RE 5 B.S.
gues you are right. but the reasons for that action.... maybe there where to less people online, and it wasnt longer worth for capcom to keep the server up and running
@barattovendo The company that they used to host the servers went under actually and I would guess Capcom saw it as an inconvenience to find another company to host the servers at that time since back then RE: Outbreak was one of the early console games to go online. Hope this helped.
For example, In halo 3 online I alwase switch to the Pistol/magnum instead of using the Assualt Rifle but it shoots to slow, In modern warfare 2 I take out that little Pistol you get first until it takes foreever to unlock the M9 but i alwase get killed by someone using a LMG or assault RIfle running around :| , In halo reach the pistol shoots fast but isn't as strong and runs out of ammo fast... Again not saying I dislike those games seeing as How i can play them up to 7am :D but still... :|
@OfficerRyman7 as for Resident Evil 4 I finished the game at least 4 times using the Silver Ghost only (Leon's first handgun) the gun's x5 critical headshot ability is really useful. and in RE: Outbreak my favorite character is Kevin Ryman, cuz he starts with a powerful .45 handgun
@Leonknight23 In outbreak my favorite characters are, The RPD reskin cop for George named Arthur, Kevin Ryman the RPD cop/ SWAT , and Mark the Viet soldier / Security Guard. For some reason I like little 9mm's :D the regular RPD M9 9mm handguns are awesome.
@Leonknight23 In MW2 It takes forever! to unlock the M9 and my only concern is I hope in MW3 they fix it where you get to hold a shotgun and a pistol -.- cause the shotgun and pistol are both secondary and for some reason you can't switch 'em up. Same with the Riot Sheild and the Sniper -.- that would be a good combo for people who love the SWAT and sniper rifles

@OfficerRyman7 you know I use the .44 magnum as a primary in online MW2 matches. with Scavenger, Stopping Power and Last Stand I dominate matches using the revolver. I also have unlocked all the titles and emblems for the .44 magnum (it took A LOT of headshots to do this)
@Leonknight23 The problem I find in nowadays games really is almost ever combat game like Halo, COD, battlefield, and other stuff is you start with Assualt Rifles that have a crap load of ammo and the pistol only has like very minimal ammo. We need it to change like back to Doom, Fallout , Killing Floor, L4D where you get a pistol with alot of ammo and is strong. Not saying I dislike those games (I love halo!) Its just I think pistols are awesome, especially M9 9mm :D
Personally I hope that if there is a Mercanrie mode for RE op racoon city they let you get to be a R.P.D. cop or R.P.D. SWAT or Security guard or whatever cause to mee it looks like Resident Evil it just becoming another Call of duty or Battlefield instead of playing as the S.T.A.R.S. and solving puzzles and surviving zombies with only a pistol and maybe a SMG here and there. But if its to keep RE alive I suppose it must be done :<
I wish capcom would make a RE outbrake that inkludes all four surviving S.T.A.R.S. members, each one having his/her specific skills. would be a nice coop game.

Haha, yeah, I had a lot of fun reading it too, now all we have to do is board up the windows, find every usable weapon and get creative, stock up on canned food and keep an ear out for news that sounds overly suspicious...until the zombie apocalypse happens...xD lol
Making a virus would be very difficult, especially since T behaved more like a parasite or fungus that consumes than a virus that had obvious targets. Really if a zombie-type thing were to happen it would be through one of those two vectors imo, or a bacteria, than a virus that can only manipulate certain types of life. I also say this because T/G seems to have neural effects and also somehow hurt plants which are pretty lacking in the whole nervous system deal.
@Urmum55 Actually you're right. Plants lack a nervous system, so the T/G Virus acted like a parasite that horribly mutates and amplifies the organism, fully controls them, and makes their prime directive to eat flesh.

@OfficerRyman7 yep Resident Evil has turned into a total action game. soldiers are now grabbing zombies and using them as human shields as they shoot each other, it's not like their shields are infected or anything. it really makes no sense to kill RPD officers when they are already trapped in hell. It's all about assault rifles now, I cant find a op:raccoon city screen shot where Leon wields a magnum handgun, my favorite firearm. any RE player knows that magnums are the best for killing B.O.W.s
@Leonknight23 wow..just 2 days ago I just became a RE fan again.. :| oh and RPD officers trapped in Hell.. You mean the zombie RPD officers because RPD officers are good (except iron brians) PLus I infact do love Pistols and obviusly the M9 9mm and maybe sometimes a Shotgun when there is no pistol around BUT I will use a Assualt Rifle IF i have to in any game because the Police also have been known to use Assualt RIfles only on special tasks. Not just SWAT

If you miss outbreak go on google and search "support outbreak" and help them with the petition to have a sequel or a revival for ps3 and Xbox, they reached 8276 signatures and they need to reach 10.000 of them so they can send it to CAPCOM
The older Resident evil game style is dead sadly, since the demand is FPS or TPS games these days with a touch of RPG in the mix up. It is a damn shame because the old style of Resident Evil was one of the great factors of why people loved it.
A very emotional song, it kinda tells of the sadness the virus spread troughout the city, infecting humans and animals alike. The zoo was probably my favorite zone, to kill that gigantic infected elephant or those lions.
awsm theme and sad, every time i beat this game i choose the sad ending to hear this theme, but there`s something i dont know, is this game chanonical? i mean, if u beat the game with the good ending in the epilogue nicholai talks to a umbrella officer, and he dies in re3 well depending on the options you choose but officially he is dead

Believe it or not this game can become a reality. How? WITH SCIENCE!!!!! Think about it. We can already clone animals, we can create cures for diseases we can defitnley create zombies. Anything can happen
I seem to find this game really hard at parts, when your team mates die on you and you have no one to heal you and you have no herbs or spray, it sucks.

Beautiful theme! Perfectly epitomizes the entire Resident Evil series, at least the ones having to do with the t-virus. I'm trying to learn this on the piano.
@TheUmbrellaCorpX I hope its like the original / outbreak series. The rediculous camera angles adds a lot to the game. In my opinion it makes it more scary not knowing what lurks around each corner and bend. I played and beat RE4 and even though it was a good game, it was too action oriented.
My favorite game series is Resident Evil there just no game that can beat it i only play these games at night though i cant play in daylight but i do also wish that they came up with a real Resident evil game for ps3 just like the old ones not like Resident evil 4 and 5 to me as a DIE HARD Resident Evil fan i will never consider them real RE games i guess that capcom wanted to increase their fanbase by creating a RE game with action i even read the RE books they are good

I dont think so, theyre makin revelations for the 3ds(looks mentally confusing) so it could be interesting, i doubt theyd just port the REmake, itd be a port of a remake of a original, they wouldnt be that stupid........would they?
@AllmightyTerminator They already did so for the Wii, and you can play the original GameCube version on a Wii anyways, so I've found no reason to doubt it.

@lightrouge2 I know. But they listen to their fans more than anyother company. Mainly putting Pheonix Wright in MvC:3.... The only reason they're not continuing the Outbreak series is because of poor sales, cause people only want fast paces shooters now, which is killing the industry...
@rozasupreme Re Outbreaks sales weren't that bad, but more were just average and you are right about fast pace killers destroying the industry. Capcom is remaking a bunch of Resident Evil games in HD and if we are "lucky" they may remake Outbreak in HD and we might get online back with it, but only time can tell.
@QualDanas Yeah, but considering RE2 isn't getting a HD remake or even rerelease I'm not hopeful considering it's the most sucessful game in the series (barring RE5, that only sold cause people thought it was a next-gen CoDfest -.-). But the choice of the rereleases is interesting CVX and 4. Claire and Leon. I'm thinking it's a clue to RE2 being remade...
@rozasupreme Over one year after this man's post Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4 were announced by Capcom that they would be receiving HD remakes, forgetting completely about Resident Evil 2 and 3. I hope they put the survival part back in Resident Evil. The one thing I didn't like about Resident Evil 5, apart from how they killed Wesker, is that they made too easy.

i think this Resident evil music theme is the most epic of all music in resident evil. It really tells a story in it's tune. Although i think that code veronica has the better storyline of epicness. Outbreak's is not too far behind. The RE5 for PS3 is not that good, it lost its feeling of survival, it became more of a action adventure and doesnt promote fear anymore, its not as tainted, corrupted and gloomy dire as the previousones
Well they were real zombies but they dont look like the ones before, everything changed in that game even zombie dont look like zombies anymore. But that astaroth executioner guy looked awesome but didnt look more zombie either. Yeah it wasnt RE.
@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 No their not zombies. They are not infected with thr T-virus. The T-virus causes victims to die then come back to life as zombies. The insects in RE4 & 5 dont kill their victims, they overtake all major organs. If u dont believe me play RE 5 at the part where Chris & Sheva run into the 1st infected they see. He never dies.
They need to make a single player game using this mechanic! :D
Its so much fun to play because the character feels less robotic than the other games. They seem to fit well and can do a lot more. Very very good games. My question is this: why aren't they ever talked about? Its almost like they've been forgotten. :(

I liked the ad-libs and the character speak in Outbreak... I do not think they will make a File 3, though. Those who played the game love it, but those who haven't judged it harshly because of its fragmented storyline. While I agree to an extent, it's not always about the story but the gameplay. I loved playing this game with other people. If you ask me it was 100x better than RE5
I love RE5, but I agree with you 100%. It is WAY better. The only thing I didn't like about this game was the infection meter because I hate rushing the experience. Gotta have a challenge though right? XP
I disagree, I thought the infection meter was genius. If you fall into the difficulty it could significantly make it to where you must rush but if you're careful you could have hours and hours of gameplay before you reach 100%. Also the fact that you can never die without the infection meter leaves a lot more reliance on your teammates rather than just hitting danger then boom! you're dead. Ya know? I always loved running to save my teammates.
@blehblehoi i was ok at RE5 i hated them bugs when u run passed them and its just a instant kill i got so mad at them once i sold most of my guns to get a rocket launcher it was a bad move cuz it was impossible the beat the final boss as Sheva
now if they meke a re:outbreak file 3 i would deffinaetly play and they betteer keep the original gamplay and not change it like resident evil 5 they just nee to fix graphics maybe new people and have voice comunication
if you use an Action Replay you can play as this unit named "Derek" hes part of hunks squad apparently cuz he wears the same gear as hunk i wish i could find my outbreak and gc action replay i could play as "myself"(my name is also derek :D) i think you can play as him with or without his mask (imagine if a unit that looks like the military's special assasain walked into j's bar....) i think the rats in the opening are also eating Derek what a bummer...
first time i switched this game the title blows away everything before even playing the game experiencing it,the machine gun dropping with bullets and the rats eating the hunks i think was genius
I dont think you played the RE games before if you think that the rats are eating hunks. Special Agent HUNK is the codename of an Umbrella Security Service Commando, leader of the ill fated Alpha Team in the service of the Umbrella Corporation. The rats are eating the Alpha Team, not Hunks.
@MysticFortune yes im sure thats right. in code veronica there is a file that says, "Hunk is on his way to the Island. Do not let him Jeaprodise the mission." at least it says something like that

Making a virus would be very difficult, especially since T behaved more like a parasite or fungus that consumes than a virus that had obvious targets. Really if a zombie-type thing were to happen it would be through one of those two vectors imo, or a bacteria, than a virus that can only manipulate certain types of life. I also say this because T/G seems to have neural effects and also somehow hurt plants which are pretty lacking in the whole nervous system deal.

@Urmum55 Actually you're right. Plants lack a nervous system, so the T/G Virus acted like a parasite that horribly mutates and amplifies the organism, fully controls them, and makes their prime directive to eat flesh.

@OfficerRyman7 yep Resident Evil has turned into a total action game. soldiers are now grabbing zombies and using them as human shields as they shoot each other, it's not like their shields are infected or anything. it really makes no sense to kill RPD officers when they are already trapped in hell. It's all about assault rifles now, I cant find a op:raccoon city screen shot where Leon wields a magnum handgun, my favorite firearm. any RE player knows that magnums are the best for killing B.O.W.s

You mean the zombie RPD officers because RPD officers are good (except iron brians) PLus I infact do love Pistols and obviusly the M9 9mm and maybe sometimes a Shotgun when there is no pistol around BUT I will use a Assualt Rifle IF i have to in any game because the Police also have been known to use Assualt RIfles only on special tasks. @TheUmbrellaCorpX I hope its like the original / outbreak series. The rediculous camera angles adds a lot to the game. In my opinion it makes it more scary not knowing what lurks around each corner and bend. I played and beat RE4 and even though it was a good game, it was too action oriented.

@lightrouge2 I know. But they listen to their fans more than anyother company. Mainly putting Pheonix Wright in MvC:3.... The only reason they're not continuing the Outbreak series is because of poor sales, cause people only want fast paces shooters now, which is killing the industry...

Capcom is remaking a bunch of Resident Evil games in HD and if we are "lucky" they may remake Outbreak in HD and we might get online back with it, but only time can tell.

@QualDanas Yeah, but considering RE2 isn't getting a HD remake or even rerelease I'm not hopeful considering it's the most sucessful game in the series (barring RE5, that only sold cause people thought it was a next-gen CoDfest -.-). But the choice of the rereleases is interesting CVX and 4. Claire and Leon. I'm thinking it's a clue to RE2 being remade...

@rozasupreme Over one year after this man's post Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4 were announced by Capcom that they would be receiving HD remakes, forgetting completely about Resident Evil 2 and 3. No one has heard anything about the possibility of Outbreak File 3 being released at all. To top it all off Justin Bieber and Jessica Black exist.
We live in sad times indeed.

i think this Resident evil music theme is the most epic of all music in resident evil. It really tells a story in it's tune. Although i think that code veronica has the better storyline of epicness. Outbreak's is not too far behind. The RE5 for PS3 is not that good, it lost its feeling of survival, it became more of a action adventure and doesnt promote fear anymore, its not as tainted, corrupted and gloomy dire as the previousones

Well they were real zombies but they dont look like the ones before, everything changed in that game even zombie dont look like zombies anymore. But that astaroth executioner guy looked awesome but didnt look more zombie either. Yeah it wasnt RE.

@XxPhoenixHarpyexX2 No their not zombies. They are not infected with thr T-virus. The T-virus causes victims to die then come back to life as zombies. The insects in RE4 & 5 dont kill their victims, they overtake all major organs. If u dont believe me play RE 5 at the part where Chris & Sheva run into the 1st infected they see. He never dies.

Its so much fun to play because the character feels less robotic than the other games. They seem to fit well and can do a lot more. Very very good games. My question is this: why aren't they ever talked about? Its almost like they've been forgotten. :(

I liked the ad-libs and the character speak in Outbreak... I do not think they will make a File 3, though. Those who played the game love it, but those who haven't judged it harshly because of its fragmented storyline. While I agree to an extent, it's not always about the story but the gameplay. I loved playing this game with other people. If you ask me it was 100x better than RE5

I love RE5, but I agree with you 100%. It is WAY better. The only thing I didn't like about this game was the infection meter because I hate rushing the experience. Gotta have a challenge though right? XP

I disagree, I thought the infection meter was genius. If you fall into the difficulty it could significantly make it to where you must rush but if you're careful you could have hours and hours of gameplay before you reach 100%. Also the fact that you can never die without the infection meter leaves a lot more reliance on your teammates rather than just hitting danger then boom! you're dead. Ya know? I always loved running to save my teammates.

if you use an Action Replay you can play as this unit named "Derek" hes part of hunks squad apparently cuz he wears the same gear as hunk i wish i could find my outbreak and gc action replay i could play as "myself"(my name is also derek :D) i think you can play as him with or without his mask (imagine if a unit that looks like the military's special assasain walked into j's bar....) i think the rats in the opening are also eating Derek what a bummer...
