  • I love how the video shows everyone EXCEPT Robert Smith of the cure who was the main guitarist/keyboardist on this album. Was it because of the contract stipulations?

  • @philmia123 i think Robert Smith had left by the time this was released as a single and i seem to recall that John Carruthers re-did the guitars in it when he joined? i could be totally wrong of course! Love this tune, one of their best!

  • She a Beautifull Women. and im only 17.Serious she beautyfull.

  • fucking beautiful...

  • Siouxsie one of the only female vocalist I really like, and the list isn't real big.

  • masterpiece T-T

  • Listening to the Banshees, Kate Bush, Blondie.... makes me so, so sad. Sad cause I can't avoid being shouted at from all sides by talentless bastards that have their 'talent' cut, sewn together, painted and glittered by the mass music factories. That's the 'artists' we have today. I WANT TO GO BACK!

  • @brikered

You want Pathetic---a friend's 14yr old daughter had a birthday coming up and I told her I'll buy you any CD you want (which really shows my age---WHO BUYS MUSIC TODAY?). She asked an old fart like me if I ever heard of Simon & Garfunkle or the Doors? She said 'I hate the music today; I was BORN WITH AND OLD SOUL?!!! I had to fight back tears. "Everything 'fresh and exciting' today is Thousands of years old" She said. My past is her future? She's living a borrowed Life!!!

  • @Armydicked Well, it wasn't her fault she's been born into 'this'. At least she can surround herself with lovely timeless things of value. Unfortunately most of the music is only being recycled (or how they prefer to call it, reinvented), but much like fast food, it burns through your system quickly and ends in the toilet never to be thought of again. Tell your friend's 14 year old she's lucky not to be fascinated by all the shiny packaging they try to sell her :)

  • Thank you. What we started in The seventies; has spread world wide. You Tube Great Guys.

  • Siouxsie rocks - way ahead of her time - her music could pass for new music -- this is not as good as her earlier work - check out her "The Scream" from 1978 - that is one of my favorite records of all time - & just recently discovered it!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh yeah, I can remember dancing like Siouxsie at the club to "Dazzle". Thought we were so cool and alternative.

  • Oh yeah, remember dancing like Siouxsie at the club to "Dazzle"? Wouldn't try it now, though!

  • Siouxsie's transformation from punk rock yelper to this is pretty incredible.

  • The arrangement of this song is beautiful, it would actually make a fitting theme song for a James Bond film.

@truxers11 I am a fan of all those women you tried to dismiss, and I am more than capable of appreciating the brilliance of SATB. Stop being such a hipster.

  • why people even mention madonna on a post like that????

This is Sioux&thebanshees and not some crap

  • I was about 12 when I first saw Siouxsie on TV and witnessed a new and strange image of what a woman could be...and I was instantly in love with everything about her, the strong voice and strong sensual image and the brilliance of the music just projected confidence and power...just amazing...all these years later, she's still the embodiment of the my ideal woman...

  • This song is fantaaaaastic, Siouxsie is brilliant. Love them.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEE

  • She so pretty!

  • a lot of people didn't know this but Robert Smith of the Cure did all the guitar work on this album.

  • I was only two years old when this gorgeous song came out ... and now, 25 years later, I love it like if it were recent! Siouxie is a beyond words woman, has a lot charisma for the stage and her voice DO transmit emotions, something that most singers CAN'T do, no matter how expensive their recording equipment is ... Hell, I just spent half hour in getting her eye makeup right! That much of influence on me is Siouxie now ...

  • God, I had totally forgotten this song! Siouxie and the Banshees are incomparable. All these kids today are so derivative. Was a teenager back in the 80s, and only in retrospect I'm beginning how subversive these bands are in comparison to contrived corporate monstrosities like Gaga. I blame Madonna...

    Brilliant song and lyrics.

  • Siouxsie's music gets better and better as the years go by.

  • Siouxsie Sioux Is A Goddess!!!

  • @SpankRamen2

    I couldn´t agree more!!

  • this is amasing!!

  • ONE of VERY FEW whose music actually got better & better as she/they progressed in their careers... if you can actually appreciate her/them. Her voice still moves me today. Too bad all has to end===~~~~

  • i remember the days when i didn't think i could live without my hair-crimper!

  • adoro!!!!genial!

    super!

  • So, back in the day, the UK mags ripped on Siouxsie for being so "glam". Forget the fact that she struck out on her own, this band listened to no one and they were light-years ahead of everyone else. Yes, Madonna who? Gaga what? Everyone had someone come before them, but SATB truly were their own creation.

  • hey my mom!!!

  • The banshees are something!… Love it

  • They cut Robert Smith from this vid, even though the guitar is very much his massive Pornography-era noise. A brilliant song, the 12" mix doubly so.

  • @iris2gamera

They cut Robert Smith from this vid, even though the guitar is very much his massive Pornography-era noise.

That's only in the One hundred years song dude , not in the whole album.

  • @Tengocuentadeyoutub

That's only in the One hundred years song dude , not in the whole album.

I don't follow. Are you saying Smith only played on "One Hundred Years"? Or are you questioning my use of the word "noise"? Either way "Pornography" one of my favourite albums. Peace.

  • i was in love with her,still am x

  • Okay, I'm sorry. Siouxsie created and did it all. 'Nuff said.

  • I remember buying Hyaena as a teenager and being floored by this song. It still holds up very well after all these years. Nothing to compare it to.

  • Wow a forgot how much I loved this song... And I still think the hair is cool :)

  • Truxers11 is spot-on. New Age/New Era music sux a hard one. Give me Banshees anyday.

  • This band ruuules hahaha

  • The best Banshees' song, without a doubt, and certainly one of the best songs of the 1980s, and maybe one of the best songs about the transformative power of drugs

  • im a kid im 13 and i freaking love her!!!

shes soo uniqe, and she always knew how to haunt u with her voice, song, creations, etc...

this song isn't just a song....

    this song is ART!!

  • @strellitha12 You are speaking poetry. Enjoy! It truly is art!

  • The Ironic thing is that, Siouxsie's dabbling with Islam Imagery would be a no-no under Shariah Law. She would be wrapped up in a Burqa, not be allowed to speak (never mind sing) and have as much rights as a dead pig...ie...zilch!

  • @Loobs666 so thank god we live in a western world

  • @Loobs666 Um, where's the Islamic imagery?

  • A great song.... that's not just Rockmusic, it's Art. And the intro is wonderful.

  • @rogerinkart, siouxsie does NOT need a nose!

  • Skating bullets on angels dust...Sheer poetry...

  • They put dazzle glittering shivers through my spine(kitchma)last 20 years...(o.k.-15 years, since I was a teen...)I,m surprized that young people are still hearing them...Here,on this island I think with me and one of my friend-that,s all of the people who ever hear of this great band.Ghotic is dead, and I,m too old to still dress in black and hount graweyard with music on my ears...

  • Siouxsie is the ultimate OG Gangster

  • Beautiful...I close my eyes and dream of my first love. It sends shivers down my spine and tingling elsewhere. hehehehe. I love you me.

  • the banshees were the best band ever , sioux is iconic in every way a gift from the gods

  • Lyrically, I can't imagine anything better. I will always be a huge fan.

  • I just got into them myself. I found a cool record store not far from my university and after I heard just a handful of songs I bought EVERY Siouxsie album I could find in vinyl ^_^ my turntable hates me, the lazy beast LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Wow....

  • Fantastic song, fantastic band. If only she had a nose ;)

  • I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of people the Banshees could pull inside an imaginary gigastadium, just to put friggin U2 to SHAME!!! Once a Banshee always a Banshee! Bald, ill, crutches and all!!!

  • There will never be music made like this anymore. I miss this kind of stuff.

  • Fabulous! :D

  • "Dazzle it's a glittering prize."

  • "skating bullets on angel dust

in a dead sea of fluid mercury

    baby piano cries

under your heavy index and thumb..."

    Brilliant!

  • si, es deslumbrante.

  • Siouxsie is one of my favorite vocalists. This song is classic.

  • is there any other female vox that sends a chill down your spine like siouxsie's?

  • @magentastraberry1 Yeah! Cocteau Twins [Elizabeth Fraser]... Siouxsie was an inspiration to the band!

  • Love the beginning of this vid...timeless

  • Siouxsie Shuffle at 1:08....

There is a world. It is filled with people who get grabbed in the chest and gut by Siouxsie and the Banshees...and the others who don't...

  • I love this song so much - and this video is amazing too...

  • My favourite of all time. Siouxsie! I bought this album when I should have been studying for my 3rd year exams in 1984.

  • i remember all to well 1984 the year this gem came out

the neighbors thought the early punk siouxsie was bad

they heard this and moved. I used to blast hong kong

garden. And love in void. Happy house... They thought

i was one crazy child. Where did the years go?

  • LOL i remenber as a kid my older brother blasting "Cities in the Dust" in the basment!!!! Yes, love the band!!! Wow Hong Kong Garden, havnt heard that title in quite somwe while! nice work.

  • Love her look in this .

  • It's a fabulous song. Timeless. And I'd not seen the video before. Thanks for posting.

  • mesmerizing, the first time I heard it many years ago off the Hyena album I remember ,it left me in a musical trance for days.Amazing music and vocals

  • BEAUTIFUL... SO BEAUTIFUL...

SHES SO STRONG AND WONDERFUL.... sIOUXSIE IS VERY INSPIRATIONAL TO ME AND FOR MANY PEOPLE.

  • Very Klimt :)

  • so perfectly true

  • I've watched this so many times that I know all the handmotions :D

  • I them, open up for david bowie, lets dance tour, middle 80's at anaheim stadium, and they open up with this song dazzle. they were Great sound good live. Been a fan ever since!

  • HYAENA -- a great album by a truly amazing band... Thanks, Siousie & the gang for many years of powerful music

  • The drummer is jammin on this!!

  • whyn the f can you not find the end of the song here?

  • the song has been truncated at both ends. Try buying it.

  • why can I not find a video that shows the end of this song? a great, brilliant song, and you cannot hear the end, which shows you the true brillance of the song. any help?

  • madonna who? beyonce who? mariah who? and the list goes on...

Siouxsie's emotions drown the children that perform on the mtv today. the banshees' lyrics and rhythm is the reason we hate all new age, new era, pretty much anything new that's not banshees, creatures, or siouxsie or before. "Heavy magnum in your side"

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!

  • Siouxsie surpasses that of expectations of women, she's a living legend this lady. Much respect for her :)

  • @truxers11

    So true!

  • @truxers11 well, say what you want about Madonna but she is still selling out tours and making hit records. Madonna been around just as long as siuxsie since early 80's so please dont hate on her...they just have different take on music as do Beyonce and mariah. All of them write and produce alot of there owe music which is great for women in music in general to see. And all of them have define there time.

  • @skyiscrying53

psh!! siouxsie was way before madonna!! uh? Broomley contigent??

  • @henryvamp, yes, madonna have been around for at least 25 plus years almost and siou been around since the mid 70's..ok. AS I said, Madonna define an age and era and siouxsie did too. madonna is still rocking today..dont hate on her...please..bye

  • @truxers11 I wish I could add... but you pretty much hit the nail right on the head!

  • last fabuloso 1:09 incrible

  • yeah...this song pretty much rocks.

i have a siouxsie shirt that i wear like all the time. it's funny because in so many photos i'm totally wearing the same t. it's kinda funny. i wonder if people think i don't wash my clothes. ah, fuck it...who cares.

i love this band. this song is so inspirational...i love sitting in my room and blasting it with some nag champa burning. ahahha!!!

    so corny.

    I LOVE SIOUXSIE!!!

  • I would totally jack you for that "T".

  • i have a siouxsie shirt too, it's too small now. -sadface-

  • This song was found on accident, and I fell in love so so so much. Its so BEAUTIFUL. Makes the tears want to flow. Siouxie has such a strong, opinionated voice. I love her. Yeah, its a shame they shortened it though...

  • I know I found this song accidentally too and I fell for it the first time I heard it

  • Love this song.

  • wOnderland..........

  • best fucking band ever!!!! All these lip syncing idiots of today should try to learn from the queen!!!!

  • I can never get enough of this video. It's so timeless. One of my all-time favorite videos and songs of the 1980's. The song itself is timeless. It was Siouxsie that got the Gothic look started with her hallmark make-up and attire. The "Queen of Punk" rules to this day. NO ONE can ever match Siouxsie - or Siouxsie and the Banshees in style. What crap is out there today? The 70's and 80's were musically diverse. The kids today too bad missed it!

  • Hey! I'm a "kid who missed it" but I'm 18 and ADORE Siouxie, Toyah, The Cure and other such beauts. I hate modern music, and its only good when I'm in clubs, drunk and dancing, and even then, I prefer going to Reflex (an 80's club) and Flares (a 70's club)

  • You have great musical taste. Never apologize.

  • this band always makes me happy :)

  • perfect "anti-rock" love it

  • I love Siouxsie-she is legendary.

  • ...

They're outstanding... I love me some Banshees

  • Fantastic song, too bad they shortened it down so much in this video, though... all because of "the MTV friendly format", I guess, hehe.

  • It´s so sad, that "Siouxsie and the Banshees" have been disintegrated! It will take another 100 years to find a woman with such an amazing voice. I just miss her so much!

  • Totally agree, "Siouxsie and the banshees" was, and is, the best band in the earth!

  • Awesome lyrics, Siouxsie the "Queen of the 80's" NO DOUBT!!! If you only know a few of her songs, the rest of the videos are a must see!!!

  • what a time! brilliant!

  • i think my face just melted.

  • that's a good sign

  • Still holds up, almost 27 years later. Wow.

  • I fuckin' love this song. I got it on 12'' vinyl when it was first released, but only saw the video once - beautiful, sounds like winter!

  • I am soooo getting this album!

  • "skating bullets on angel dust, in a dead sea of flowing mercury" purely insane genius. the poetry that flowed from her lips, ran straight down my spine into the very core being that brought me back to nature.

  • when i first heard this song i fell in love for a drummer in their concert here, in Brazil...i still keep their LP...great song indeed and great time!

  • godi love them.

  • I love this song.

    Soo awesome!!!

I want hair like that! I almost came close.

  • Magnifique souvenir ! Merci beaucoup pour cette video ^^ Bravo Siouxsie

  • huh. silly me. I thought it was about rhinestones, bedazzlers, and angel dust.

Blame DeBeers for the diamond hijack.

  • i think this is a song about the diamond trade in africa. "your teeth when they grin reflecting beams on tombstones" refers to workers swallowing diamonds. "playing russian roulette for the lucky dip" refers to workers trying to steal diamonds and the punishment of death if caught. "baby piano cries under your heavy index and thumb" refers to the wire the workers used to lower themselves into the diamond pits. what a beautiful song about such an ugly business.

  • Shit, is that a tear on my face? O my..... how i loved this song back then. Still i do but had forgotten all about it. Hyaena is the name of the album? Doctor......hèlp!

  • sorry, i accidentally clicked a thumbs down on your post. i'm new to this. i'm not sure what these thumbs mean. i had no problem with your post.

  • Lets see 1984 the year this song came out what a shock

to us young kids back then. the Smiths, echo and the bunny men

cure and Gene loves Jezabel.. jesus and mary chain, LOVE THEM ALL & and miss them....

  • I was lucky to find KROQ on the dial back then, so lucky to hear all the great stuff they played.

  • Before Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl," there was "Dazzle"!

  • The whole Hyaena album is remarkable! This is one of my favorite songs from the album and one of my favorites of her overall.

  • This is the song that introduced me to Siouxsie. And I love it!

  • One of my favorite Banshee tracks after maybe swimming horses.

  • There should be a button for favorite among favorites, there should be a six star rating. Just for this, I need more options.

  • Epic.

  • a gothic puck masterpice

  • I played this at a dance as a "slow" song at the beginning, and then everybody was confused when the drums came in.

Leave it to Siouxsie and the Banshees to make you slow dance without actually doing it.

    Thanks!!

  • Madonna, eat your heart out. This is how it's done!

  • HAHAHAHAHA.... so true!

  • Ahhhhhhhh.......

One of the best songs and arrangements and performances ever in the history of the universe. It makes me cry it is so pro-frikin-foundly perfect.

  • Drummer & Lead guitar play with passion. Love this video!

  • Love it. Siouxsie will always be #1 on my list!!

  • I forgot how kick ass this song is!!!I love Siouxsie's lyrics. She has an awesome voice, great music, and clever lyrics. Thanks, fushia1992!

  • WE LOVE SIOUXSIE!!!!!

    WALL ARGETNINA

  • Great stuff.

  • ahhhh music to play while killing zombies in a post apocalyptic world.

2012 it's coming get ready reload now!

  • Hi! To a certain extent I agree w/ you in the sense this's a great song, but apologize me for saying this: MELT! is much higher than this! Sensual, erotic, warm, delightful, amazing song!!!

  • Still sublime. Still beautiful. A classic.

  • I wish Robert Smith was in this video since it's his guitar workin this song.

    aa

  • are you fag?

i like robert, but where there is sioux, no one more is necessary, she's the most and over all.

the world could not need anything else than her

  • I cried hearing this song again after over 20 years. I dare to say, such emotion she evokes in her lyrics and the genius of the music. I am so saddened that I've compromised my music. I played this at work today and my coworkers asked me who that new person was..OMG! Talk about the Midwest being behind the times! I grew up on this in LA where we used to go the places like the Oddessy, the Fetish, and the Seance in Hollywood to hear this kind of music. Here they think this is new! If only..

  • its always new.

  • It's a testament to the music of the 80's being a head of it's time, since then We have taken a huge step back to the garbaage that is played today. My fav from Siouxsie and the Banshees, though they had so many awesome songs it's difficult to pick just one fav.

  • both the song and video are great.

  • this has to be my all time favourite Siouxsie and the banshees song, a classic, love it

  • It wasn't called "Goth" back then. It was either called Death Rock, or Death Wave.

Joy Division and Bauhaus were the main influence for that genre.

    I know, I lived it

  • My fav Banshees song used to be kiss them For me... Until i heard this. I'm speexhless...

  • Dazzle - it's a glittering prize!

  • c00l

  • one of my favorite tracksof the banshees!-so haunting-siouxsie at her best!! wht a dark diva!!

  • I also like the lines

    "in the face of stagnation"

    "swallowing diamonds cutting throats"

    vivid

  • "skating bullets on angel dust, in a dead sea of fluid mercury...." this is a line that sticks out in my memory in the most random, often bizarre moments. i'm a wordsmith, though, so i am mentally collecting snapshots of language all the time. nobody writes like this anymore..:((

  • i'm hooked

  • Does anyone know if for certain she is part Egyptian?

  • this was the first Siouxie song I ever heard and I was instantly hooked....

  • A great mix of alternative and classical music. Siouxsie is the best, always has been.

  • Smashing, very nice movement of the body, in perfection and in harmony, she'd me. The best!

  • This has to be my favorite video of hers of the 80s era. She caused a whole genre to evolve, even though I've heard she doesn't like to be exactly associated with Gothic, I would put her there. She's one of the absolute originals. Incredible style queen. Sexy independent gothic diva.

  • Yeah, well, that's because a lot of goths are trend jumpers. She really is the true Goth Queen, just as Robert Smith is who I consider the queen. He incidentally denies being goth at all. But they started the culture, they can't be blamed for a bunch of annoying kids who bring it down. Still.

  • This is a magical song!!! Brings back such awesome memories. Very good video.
