  • yea...

  • that's like 2 million dollars worth of instruments

  • Me parece que Claudio Abbado ofrece una versión de la quinta con una emoción intensa; en lugar de enfatizar una versión netamente épica, expone cuadros bien trabados que van emergiendo como una construcción que envuelve en intensas emociones.

  • Abbado took this angry masterpiece and turned into a children's song. Terrible.

  • May I offer another perspective? Abbado's Beethoven 5th is no Otto Klemperer or Karajan or even a Solti or a Muti. It's a more subtle creature, I suggest. He takes a less martial approach, bringing out a greater warmth and sensitivity - more of a love of life, or as the Germans say, Lebenslust. If you don't care for this approach, fair enough. I think it is an interesting new angle - and yes, I like it. I also think, in passing, Abbado is something of a one-off musical genius.

  • Hmmm, I was expecting the conductor to be more animated ... where's the passion?. Ah well ...

  • @takashijoh the passion is not in what you see, but in what you hear, just listen once with closed eyes...

  • @takashijoh Stop watching Dudamel and wasting your time with his hair dance! The conductor role is much more than been shaking the boots up in the stage.

  • thank you its amazing

  • ahh i thought the conductor was having a seizure for a second...

  • What instrument is in 2:27? You know, the red instruments.

  • @NarissaEstayo basson

  • I have heard this symphony sevral times and i keep liking it more and more-live it has spelt magic on me

  • what is the instrument at 0:54

  • @nfoley40 It's a ebony flute.

  • what kind of floppy conducting baton is this guy using? it's like a piece of spaghetti!?

  • @joshster89 it's rigid, the flopping is an illusion, like that trick where you hold a pencil between your fingers and then move it up and down to make it look like it's bending.

  • No matter what he conducts, the tempo is always, but always faster than it should be. He probably thinks that the faster you perform the more impressive it sounds, which is completely wrong.

  • @AliciaDupres

i'm sorry, but it's not true! The Abbado Tempo is slower than it should be! Beethoven's metronome marking of 1817, indicates 108 each mesure! Please don't say now, that the Metronome of Beethoven was wrong...

Abbado isn't that stupid that comes out from your comment. Have you ever heard the interpretation of Kleiber or Zinmann? the Tempo is much more faster, so as it should be. Only Beethoven is right!

  • If u take a look at the Toscanini version or the Furtwangler one, u will be disappointed by this poor conduction...Abbado is good to do late 900 music, not Beethoven...

  • very good

  • Is it just me or does Abbado look way too skinny to conduct so energetically?

  • how come I remember a version abbado conducted , played by berlin phil that is slower than this?

  • To tell youu the truth, I would expect more from the berlin philharmonic.

  • @MrChris1125 To tell you the Real Truth, You understand nothing of music!!! It's an excellent interpretation !!!

  • @MrChris1125 And.... what would you want to hear?? Don't you know the mastery of the Great Claudio Abbado?? Just close your eyes and listen, let the music envolve you...

  • The aspect ratio is all wrong. Does anybody else notice it?

  • what's aspect ration? is it a musical term? thanks!

  • @charmingemily

The aspect ratio of an image is the ratio of the width of the image to its height. You know it, for example, as 4:3 or 16:9. The picture in this youtube video is squeezed horizontally, resulting in slightly stretched faces. The interesting thing is, that many people don't even notice that. At the risk of being a little off-topic here: if you're interested in this, google for "Are Some People Just Visually Dull?" or "Aspect Ratio Fail Am I the Only Person Who Cares?"

  • haha thanks I think I am just visually dull - maybe I'll notice it next time i see it. but then ive never seen abbado in real person so maybe thats why i dont notice

  • @whiterottenrabbit You're watching videos on youtube what did you expect HD 3D?

  • @GalagaKing No no, it has nothing to do with HD. Mostly, youtube videos have acceptable picture quality, they are not pixelized or grainy. However, many videos (and this occurs not only on youtube but even on TV or DVDs) have a wrong aspect ratio. The picture is then stretched or squashed. The interesting thing is, that very few people care about it; and even more interesting is that some people cannot recognize a wrong AR, even if they see something obvious like oval car tyres.

  • @whiterottenrabbit You can enjoy the performance with a correct aspect ratio and great quality on our website!

  • @medicitv I will check it out, thanks! What I like to do on YouTube is to raise awareness of aspect ratio. Much like music, visual representation of objects is an art. And much like Beethoven, who wouldn't like his music to be listened to in telephone quality, a visual artist wouldn't like to have his peace being distorted by squashing or squeezing it. Granted, this video doesn't show a Picasso. But still there are people who don't like wrong AR. Why many others don't care? I don't know...

  • Più che eccellente!

  • io credo che quest'uomo non possa che essere definito eccellente.
