I remember during the 90's the BBC got lots of US imports of cartoons made by Hanna Barbera! I remember we got: Tom and Jerry, Top Cat, Wacky Races, Dastardly and Muttley, Scooby Doo, The Smurfs and The Snorks! I grew up with these as a kid, as well as a few of the classic British Cartoons I grew up with like Thomas and Friends, Oscar's Orchestra, Dennis the Mennace (Beano Version), and Budgie the little Helicopter, Ah those were the days! :)

@jmjfanss you do realize you included the 70s and 80s in there right? the 80s was mostly over market induced toys where the writers were trying to do something with stuff they were forced to use rather than really putting any heart into it. and the 70s had to work around the worst of animation budgets and overusing the skills coined in the 60s to a comical degree. Hell the 50s doesn't have a single show I ever hear about as decent.

@jmjfanss Nah I don't go with that man, it was a golden era, but it carried on into the 90's and only properly stopped with the emergence of more cgi stuff and animators getting sacked round about 2002 or perhaps a couple of years earlier. There were a whole host of great cartoons and kids shows in the 90's, glad i got to experience the best of both decades! :)

Smurfs Adventures was the syndicated version of the show and used a shortened version of the season 4 opening, which because of the syndicated show is now the most well known. Season 1 is now out on DVD with the original opening.

This is probably the most badass theme in any cartoon. I mean think about it the smurfs are having a lovely day and then the joyful music plays. Next thing you know gargemel does something bad and the theme goes from joyful to sinister. This theme should be played on footage of bad disasters.
