A skilled SH, spec'd for kiting and with room to run, can kite a SM to death without the SM getting a melee attack in.

We don't have multiple snares like IB (Earthshatter + tank root) or a ranged knockdown like Knight (Heaven's Fury).

I have solo'd plenty of SHs, but the very best can be impossible to kill as an SM, if the fight starts from range.

Are you going to do Patch 1.2 SM videos? I'm only level 17 atm and would like to know what's it like at level 40. Also, did you ever get ether dance? How useful is it compared to Whispering Wind?

Yes I will do 1.2 SM videos, I just need to record some footage in 1.2.

Ether Dance requires 2h, which I've found to not be viable in T4 in 1.2 with caster DPS being what it is. For most of 1.1 I ran with a 2h in ORVR, but in 1.2 I've gone back to using 1h + shield.

FYI: for some reason this video is only showing in HQ now. Dunno why.

Yeah on normal quality it says video is not available. Thanks for the info, right now I'm PvE most of the time grinding with an Archmage friend. So we need the dps and thats why I'm using 2h. Will change later probably.. Thanks again!

Awesome vids mate,very insitefull, But how in the world do you get your wounds that high without sacrificing other stats critical to a Hoeth Kaine SM such as Str or tough and even INT or WS?

I put +19 wounds talismans in all tally slots. It's that simple. I focus on Str for gear stats aside from the tally slots.

Int is useless IMO.

1. after 1.0.6/1.1, I got the Hoeth mastery ability Protection of Hoeth. It used to suck, now it's useful because the cooldown is 10s and it advances balance

2. r40 renown +43 wounds, Bastion Stair influence r30, and 2 x r37 str/wounds jewelry

Couple of Questions. Is that the default UI? Looks different to the one in Beta.

How are Swordmasters to level? I'm getting this soon, and have yet to decide on a main.

I use several addons, including Warhammer Scrolling Combat Text, CombatLog Mod, Killing Blow, and Action Bar Color.

SMs are easy to level, because you can AOE-tank multiple same-level mobs without risk.

My SM was much easier to level than my BW to 40. Far less risk of dying.

i hear the game is more balanced around rvr than pvp, so are there classes that do generally good against a large amount of classes in pvp? or did they balance that too?

We have a difference in semantics.

PVP is any player vs player to me, regardless of numbers on each side. Mythic coined the term RVR to encompass the scale of the fighting...realm vs realm.

If your comment is whether the game is more balanced around many-vs-many than 1v1, well, IMO, it's reasonably balanced with respect to both. I.e. a good player of any class has a chance to beat players of other classes. Although some matchups favor 1 class over another, per the game mechanics.

To you folks from the thread on the IGN forum: I didn't lose a 1v1 against an even-ranked opponent from T2 to R39. The only people I lost to prior to R40 were 3+ ranks higher than me. See my other 1v1 vids.

The 1st same-rank opponent I lost to was Malpardis the RR56 Chosen, IMO the best Chosen on PT.

Prior to R40 I hadn't fought near-rank BOs or WEs, it just worked out that way as I leveled quickly. Those are difficult classes IMO for SM/IB per the game mechanics. Knight however has OYG.

ERRATA:

1. in the fight vs the Marauder, I said "continue to keep in front of him". I actually meant "continue to keep him in front of me".

It's critical to keep targets in a 180 degree arc in front of you, so you can parry (and block), even while retreating. Do not ever give up your back. But get behind them whenever you can so they can't parry (or block). For more detail on this, watch my T2 PG video.

2. I referred to "Winds Force" as "Winds Fury" during the 1st fight with the Chosen

I liked my previous T4 video better (pre-1.0.6), where I killed casters 6-8 ranks higher than me, even with 1-2 other players beating on me.

I am planning on releasing more 1v1/1v2/1v3 videos in the future.

Also have some great 2h scenario footage I need to sit down and make a video of, given that 2h play is very situationally effective at R40.

WE's seriously need addressed. They should not be able to take out a heavy tank as easily as they do. They are OP'd in every tier. Stealth is also screwed up. Other than WE's, WAR is a great game.

I had an RR advantage and a gear advantage, so keep that in mind.

Just wondering your wounds is so hugely high. My SM is lvl 39 too and my wounds is like 200 less than yours. How did you get like over 900 wounds? What gear? i wonder your strength maybe is not too high then? Cause it seems you stacks a lot of wounds there. I have around 600+ strength. Btw nice video and yeah I am still having trouble fighting WEs

As of this morning, I have 4 Annihilator pieces, Conqueror boots, and Sentinel belt. And I have 1h and 2h weapons (Wyvern's Talon and Ninth Peak) from the epic quest chains. All of those items have talisman slots.

I spend as many RR points on Strength as possible. I have ~495 with 1h and ~520 with 2h. So less than you.
