  • What kids TV show is his from then?

  • I'm only here because a webcomic I read keeps referencing them, and I DON'T GET THE JOKES DAMN IT

  • @7411y questionable content?

  • @revolutiongamestar Quite definitely, I'm not exactly an expert on indie bands

  • Realized exactly how crazy this whole experience was at about 1:40, weird, in a good way... - Jesse

  • per e stè robe indie fan tutte caghèr......w gli anni 90..

  • this reminds me of the grates.

    this song is so awesome

  • I should start pronouncing "tropical" and "Iceland" the way she does.

  • @vonpiro why, then, must you even bother to watch this video? Radiohead happens to be one of my favorite bands, and fiery furnaces are new to me. You are entitled to your own opinion, but it annoys me that every single video I watch there is always someone ranting on about how much they hate it. If you hate it, don't watch it. If you don't know what it is, then end up not liking it, don't bother to leave a comment.

  • @beardedspock (he's trolling)

  • Cool song and video

  • love this song.

  • Squee!

  • Ok... I'm in love with her!!!! Reminds me of Sara Sidle from CSI. :) Way cool song!

  • I love Radiohead.

But, I think Fiery Furnaces is more crazy band...

    love them both.

  • i feel like im watching a segment on nick jr.

  • Finding a song as original as this, makes me oh so happy. Watching the gorgeous singer does the same! Glad I discovered!

  • Radiohead!

  • this somehow reminds me of super furry animals, but the singer is a girl. whatever, i love it!

  • 'How to take a simple song and make it great'. Not for dummies. great job, FF.

  • nice Guitar

  • radiohead is like my favorite band and i would never compare these bands. it doesnt even make sense you just respect both

  • The Fiery Furnaces are such a better band than Radiohead anyway. All RH ever does is rip off great old bands like Can and convince modern teenagers that they're being inventive, when actually it's just recycled innovation with pop hooks.

  • @MelancholyDane people are still talking about the radiohead thing, get over it people

  • Random "people" question: is she still dating Alex Kapranos?

  • @daleandaudrey I guess so... that lucky bitch!

  • Why is everyone so obsessed with musical elitism, you don't have to like a band because they aren't mainstream, or stop liking a band because they are.

So to the fuck wit who got thumbed up, who believes you can like radiohead for the wrong reasons, besides liking the music. Then GTFO :)

  • @SilverAnxo Very good reply, dude!

  • Poor Greenland :(

  • can anyone tell me where this version came from cause the one on gallowsbird's park is much slower

  • @Adukum actually nvm just figured it out myself, and bark* my bad

  • The brunette singer is hot!

  • The Greek philosopher Plato Patrick Henry Frederick Douglass Abraham Lincoln Susan B. Anthony Winston Churchill John F. Kennedy Martin Luther King, Jr. Lyndon B. Johnson Ronald Reagan
  • You'd have to be some twisted loser to hate on this; this is positively endearing! So unselfconscious.

  • Gay

  • @bananasofcourse coming from the guy who favorited Mariah Carey and Rihanna videos.... lol

  • @oleander2882 Even mainstream music is better than this crap.

  • @oleander2882 LOL.

  • great pop song...unique video....great post....thank you

  • Is it just me or does she look fucking bored?

  • yo tengo una version mas suave de esta cacion. mi favoritas de fiery furnaces son worry worry quay cur single again... well maybe when I'm in the mood all of their song are my favorite but this version naah ah! I don't like it.

  • Is the band name because of "OH YOU HAVE TO BUY HIM! OR THE NASTY MAN'LL TAKE HIM AAY AND PUT HIM IN THE FIRERY FURNACE!"

  • They need to récord somewhere tropical

  • amazing sound, great cds!! i love you guys come to israel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brilliant song!! Check out the song Empty bodies with Inouwee if you like this..

  • You guys are arguing about bands when theres a hot girl with a gutair above. insanos

  • @BlooHairr >gutair

  • fail

  • Good band...I don't get why everyone is arguing about Radiohead. haha Radiohead is much better in my opinion, but I wouldn't really compare them in the first place.

  • U rock

  • One day a lot of you will feel depressed about what you wrote here. It's a fucking song, not a bloody manifesto. She is fit though :)

  • This is the type of band me and my friend should form.

  • I must piss of a lot of hipsters. I actually enjoy music. :)

  • The guy reading the book looks like Danbert Nobacon!

  • there are no palmtrees or seahorses on iceland XD

  • Jesus Christ your all still bitching about radio head! Stfu and go watch radio heard videos already

  • @an8bitwarlock fair point, i certainly wouldn't want radiohead to be judged by as hackneyed and teenage a song as creep. but i did listen to blueberry boat and it sounded like someone trying to emulate certain records by the residents very closely, but almost entirely boringly. the sound palette is good but the arrangement is dull dull dull

  • the reason everyone is talking about radiohead is cause this band foolishly tried to diss them but thought they were talking about harry partch in their newest track rather than harry patch, and then backtracked most unconvincingly and claimed they'd been joking all along - for the record, fiery furnaces are idiots and their music is intensely unoriginal

  • @hotbloodeddetectivej

They are more original then stupid radiohead. When will people think their music is old. Does it take more then 10 years? seriously

  • @MrWoweeZowee i think their music is old, and that 'in rainbows' is a pile of coffee table wank, but they've still made way more important contributions to music than the fiery furnaces. but i am someone who likes being proved wrong whenever possible (unlike 99% of youtube commenters) so please if you have actual musical examples of FF's originality then point them my way. you have my word that i will not immedietly write them off

  • Leve , fresco e original !

  • Eleanor looks beaautiful here. but then again, watchin the other videos, shes ugly D:

  • @AleMayaOM that´s right :(

  • Ah, ah, ah! That's simply great!

  • Meh...

  • Phelsuma04 , IN RAINBOWS Is far superior to Amnesiac in every way. That album is simply a Kid B Side To the groundbreaking Kid A. Hail To The Theif for that matter trumps Amnesiac too. Come to think of it I believe it may be one of the weakest album mext to Pablo Honey. And in case your wondering who is a better band, Googlel search Radiohead's live perormances vs. FF and it's pretty clear that FF should not be even in the conversation.

  • @chadm724 Having listened to both bands excessively I would disagree strongly with you my good friend. While you are correct that Amnesiac is a collection of Kid A b sides, that doesn't make the songs bad but rather is a testiment to how great Radiohead was during the Kid A times. Also, I am not judging these bands by live performances but rather albums and to me Radiohead have never equaled Blueberry Boat which should be considered one of the best albums of the past few decades!

  • Posting things about them isn't gonna get you any closer to that goal.

  • oh i get this video now! It took me a couple of minutes though. :) I like it, but i wouldn't compare it to radiohead, apart from they both enviromentaly conscious band. :)

  • Matt shouldn't bitch about radiohead. It should be known that the fiery furnaces are much more relevant than radiohead though and that radiohead haven't made a good record since amnesiac while the fiery furnaces have put out 4 or more albums including a B sides collection in 2005 that may be better than radiohead at their best!

  • what the fuck man? Why bother and bitch about comparing? what the fuck? :D ps: lol

  • i have to disagree. In Rainbows is arguably one of their best albums, at least thats my opinion

  • In Rainbows is their best album period because in the album we get to hear and listen to Thom's easiness and amendments with society, he isn't against the world anymore. The whole band is ready to enjoy and celebrate life.Ok Computer is their 2nd best.

  • @pokabeb I disagree, i think kid a. the fusion between idea and music is, well, seamless you get this 'musical journey' of genuine criticism towards society. In many way its an extension of ok compputer but yeah i like kid a.

  • @ Phelsuma04

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • @boomer6392

    I know it is funny!

  • Why the hell is everyone talking about radiohead

  • Because Radiohead is amazing and worth talking about, obviously.

  • not

  • @chocotricks cos the guy from band said he didn't like radiohead (practicaly). But for every else... studies in music psychlogy have shown that a persons tastes are dictated by their environment, culture etc. But what is most interesting, is when people react to a successful band negatively. for instance, many people like radiohead, so SOME people will "un-conventionally" not like them. Ofcourse theres alot more to it, but its good to kno. keep listening!!!

  • @darbeel1 oh lol and as for the studies in music thing, i agree. My parents usually have the radio on and they play almost everything from the way back-now they have a hugh cd collection with lots of variety and I myself am a big fan of almost everything and some of my fav bands being Iron maiden, metallica, van halen, and so on and it just so happens I have friends who listen to the same kind of music. Point being

  • @darbeel1 Point being that my music taste and other interest and influenced on who im with and what they do, same goes for pretty much everyone. So very good for pointing that out

  • @chocotricks Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks not a little like Phil Selway turning the page at 1:00.

  • @askl23 i lol'd, yes it does actually ashahaha

  • @askl23 i think that is phil selway

  • @chocotricks

Matt Friedberger insulted Radiohead for their song John Patch (In Memory Of), who was the last surving English veteran of WWI, because he thought Radiohead's song was about John Partch who was an American composer that Matt was a fan of. He accused them of writing a song about John Partch to make themselves seem intelligent, when in actuality they were paying tribute to a recently deceased war veteran.

So as you can imagine, the reaction of Radiohead fans is not unwarranted.

  • @LivesUnderABridge *Harry Patch/Partch

  • @chocotricks Because they're relevant as hell. Hahaha, isn't it funny, bitching between FF-Fans and Radiohead-Fans, like in the good old times, when Liam wanted to knock down Damon and finally got Noël, hahaha, the good old times ...

  • ωραία η κοπελα!

  • how come every time i watch a fiery furnaces video i have to read about goddamn radiohead? is this a joke or something?

  • Comment removed

  • oh...thanks for clearing that up. I just find it weird because the two bands are nothing alike at all so it seems like a pointless comparison.

  • I thought it was funny. I mean, what are the chances that some English WW veteran Radiohead writes a song about has almost the exact same name as some random American experimental composer?

    Matt is a mad genius.

  • Comment removed

  • radiohead is the best band in the world

    this band is good too

radiohead didnt peak with computer like most of you think

kid a, amnesiac, and rainbows are their best albums. when they come out with a new album soon it will be the best one of the year.

  • Hail to the Thief is their best album

  • it's waste of time to tell anyone who the best band in the world is. just, think about it.

  • it's a shame this friedberger guy had to spur all this negative pr for his band

  • You hipsters love pop culture, so here goes:

Remember that Gilligan's Island where that fake British Invasion band "The Mosquitos" discovers the castaways, and to impress them, the girls and guys each do their own musical performances. Remember how terrible Mr. Howell, The Professor, Gilligan, and the Skipper played, almost like an atonal one-man-band dusted out of his gourd? This is officially worse than that shit.

  • i apologize to fans in advance, but i kind of want to punch this song in the face.

  • I like this song! ^^

  • lol @ Radiohead fans

  • dear fucking moron radiohead fans that probably like radiohead for the wrong reasons;

this is probably the most mainstream and popular fiery furnaces song. dont judge the band by this as much as you'd want radiohead to be judged by 'creep'

anyway if you want to properly judge fiery furnaces please go listen to a song like 'blueberry boat' by them, for the LOVE OF GOD

  • I could not love this comment more.

  • @an8bitwarlock

blueberry boat is a rock opera masterpiece!!!!!

  • @an8bitwarlock dude creep rocks! this song sucks! so theres your difference.

  • @Porojukaha radiohead themselves hate creep. they never play it live anymore and generally ignore the existence of pablo honey. you're probably one of those idiots who stopped listening to radiohead when kid a came out because it was nothing like ok computer

  • @an8bitwarlock I dont care if Radiohead doesnt like it, i do! Funny what you say, their songs from ok computer and earlier really are their best work, except for in rainbows. I like the other albums, especially Hail to the Thief, but they arent as good as they used to be. They didnt sell out, they actually got to be too weird

sorry i dont like your song. i think it sounds too much like too many other bands. a list: fratellis, locksley, franz ferdinand, artcic monkeys, etc. its just not original

  • @an8bitwarlock Funny you would say that because actually, radiohead did start to suck after ok computer. they got to be too weird. they hate creep because they are now tryhards who want everyone to think they are really weird because thats their selling point, so they avoid all their good songs. its also why they arent popular anymore.

  • @Porojukaha okay, so you're not even a radiohead fan

WHY ARE YOU HERE shouldn't you be busy popping your collar out while listening to nickelback or some other terrible "popular" band

  • @an8bitwarlock Really? RH play Creep live in Mexico. =)

  • I actually am retarded....

  • when I look at the way humanity treat z whole earth... how can we b something different than completely retarded...too much evolution kill the evolution...(as the snake symbol, as a circle),

mongolians them...are uncapable to destroy mother earth.....this is the reason why i'm a disciples of the Queen of the stone age sect...we are pagans ... hehe...'cause it's partialy a religion problem...and fiery furnace look really like pagans...or christians weirdos...and basically it's not an insult.

  • tropical icy icy... and they criticize radiohead.

  • Anyone who puts this shit over Radiohead is RETARDED.

  • Did they mean this to be good?

  • matt friedberger is a douche!

  • a douche I would not mind using!!!!!!!! ;)

  • way to ride radiohead's coattails!

  • WELL I JUST WANT TO ASK ONE THING.

ARE THE FIERY FURNACES ON THE NEW TWILIGHT SOUNDTRACK?

    IS THOM YORKE?

    yeah...

  • wow, this band is seriously bad compared to radiohead...........dey must b seriously jealous, its funny tho the amout of views people are giving dem just cos of radiohead, even tho they hate dem dat much

    hahahahahahaha

  • no man.....radiohead don't even now what's simplicity... i mean if radiohead were put in a time machine directly to 1977... they will b considered as pompus-complexus-pretentious proto prog dinosaurs... and the Punks needs blood to continue to drink more beers daysafterdays...

Hopefully 4 radiohead their heads & scalps remain in our peacefull modern days.... but hey! ... who called the indians !? i hear the sound of the drums...comin' ... i think i've got a problem with my timemachine :( glups

  • nice gimmick to get attention since your music dosent... awful generic band

  • this song is beyond annoying

  • Wow holy shit i can't believe how shit this band is, no wonder that fried-burger faggot is jealous.

  • FUCK ALL Y'ALL!

I like Radiohead too, they used to be one of my favorite bands, but they got old and kind of boring...and well, the Fiery Furnaces know whats up and always do something fun and different. I LOVE THEM.

  • it's not really very different at all

  • that's true Radiohead were great ...in the 90s...but modern days are made for bands like the furnace.

  • Checked em out because of their spat at radiohead. I could see how they could be very jealous with songs like this.

  • what the hell

  • Comment removed

  • what crap

  • Huh, I guess, Maybe matt said what he said about Radiohead so that I would check out his band. I could have done without.

  • to be fair, im a massive radio head fan, but the fact Thom Yorke wrote a tribute to Harry Patch was annoying and generically cheesy. Stop the hating on this band (who aren't my cup of tea) who have every right to speak their minds.

  • Comment removed

  • What a shit band, how dare they criticize radiohead when they write shit songs about tropical ice

  • go listen to their Blueberry Boat album and come back to say the same thing.

  • how the fuck can they put out shit like this and actually have the balls to put down radiohead? I understand where that twat is coming from about not liking what radiohead branding and image that they built up, but at least respect the band for what they achieved.

  • Radiohead are fab - Matthew Friedberger's wrong - but this song is ace- can't take that away for him.

  • Thom > Matt,

    always, always, ALL WAYS.

  • Bloody hell, that's awful crap! That was my first and hopefully last listen.

  • Radiohead is better..

  • I like this band a lot!

  • too light and happy for my taste. sounds like something straight out of an iphone commercial.

  • genius :)

  • Beautiful song,band,everything!!! I love you guys!!!

  • ti amo a lovur

  • i love how she pronounces iceland "icey-land", borderline infantile but still adorable

  • I love how serious they look.

  • I almost typed a whole paragraph at you but I think you're joking.

  • How can you even seriously call them generic? Do you know what the word generic means? Name three bands that are anything like the Fiery Furnaces?

  • the curtains, ponytail, and dirty projectors.

  • most artists dont throw paint on canvases they make it have a similar look or if they do they do it in an interesting way also everything has art in it if you cant get that then i am truely sorry for you

  • iceland is not like that

  • doesn't it have more volcanoes than that?

    ....

i think they were thinking about greenland

  • yes indeed, i imagine they were, this weird, fucked up MUSIC VIDEO by a psychedelic band certainly doesn't have a realistic depiction of Iceland. You're completely right.

But tell me, what do you think they should do to make this video depict Iceland more faithfully, as is, obviously, the only purpose of making a video for a song?

  • that's a very relevant and useful thing to say when making a review of a surreal music clip by a band who are know for their surrealist imagery.

  • ._.

  • Eleanorrrr!!!!

  • people that call The Fiery Furnaces "generic" don't know the meaning of the word. Listen to Captain Beefhart - you'll come to understand where this music stems from.

  • i want that book

  • Did you even understand what I wrote? Many love to say they could do it, bu- oh, nevermind...

So, when is your record coming out?

  • Malaquias just because it has a melody and a pop song structure doesn't mean it's generic. There's nothing else in pop/rock that sounds like the Fiery Furnaces, their arrangements and instrumentation are really unique. The verse progression is kind of dissonant I guess but it sounds bouncy and fun so who cares
