Reminds me of the oldschool rougher chicago house stuff i still love with new styles mixed in.I can imagine those short bursts of sub sounding sweet on a system
Was in Warehouse Project last Friday when he dropped this track and it tore the place a new one, at the end of the day that's all that matters really.
It sounds good to me .. Music doesn't always have to be a technically complicated & brilliantly composed piece for me to classify it as good or to appreciate it . Sometimes the KISS theory ,Keep It Simple Stupid ,works just find ,,especially for the floor !
any composer or musician with training - and many djs and producers actually have this musical training - appreciate the art of composition. anybody think you were marcel dettman himself by your reaction to my opinion on 1 track - and i reserve my right to an opinion. just don't like it - think its slack and i'm comparing it to my personal taste and an entire body of music - tool seems an appropriate word for a person who resorts to using "fuckspaz" - and yes it is JUST a LOOP with some fading
@footcrab i do other things with my time like put foods on the tables of people living in poverty - music is my release - but if you wanna hear techno - checkout the advent's kurva - i rest my fucking case!
@markkil By the way you were speaking about it , I thought maybe you were coming from the position of someone who knew about music composition or production , but you're just another "Armchair Quarterback" who's position is reinforced by nothing.
@footcrab look footcrab - just because i don't make music doesn't mean i don't have an ear for it (i just wish that everyone filling the world with stuff cared enough about their craft to do it justice) - and there are principles of composition common to all acts of making and art. i don't live in the states and i don't care much for grid iron - that's obviously your thing. but i will make 2 points...
@footcrab 1. of all the music i do like, i just happened not to like this one. if people who like this track want their opinion respected then they should have the courtesy to respect the fact that i and others do not like it. me not liking it doesnt stop you or anyone else from liking it. 2. i don't like 1 track - and give my reasons for doing so. in return i am attacked by people who disagree. i am distressed at the attacks and the fact that in some of my comments i returned in kind...
@markkil You're perfectly entitled to your opinion , but just as you are looking for people to respect your opinion , you in turn must respect peoples right to disagree with your opinion... especially in a public forum.
Having an ear for music does not automatically entail that you understand composition or production , so I would expect someone who comes across as speaking from a position of 'authority' on composition to have an understanding of it.
@footcrab i was in the clubs when the phenomenon we call techno first hit the decks. and while i have never released a techno track myself i have lived and i have composed. sure this might make me "old" but it also means i have experience it means i have heard alot of music and it means i have heard it all before. so you can take it upon my authority whether you like it or not if i think somethings crap then its probably crap.
@footcrab yes i'm afraid. reinhard voight, pole, auch have all created what you could call "tooling tracks" that you could add percussion, hi-hats, bass, beats to, to ix in a set but you know i think alot of their work is cohesive, original and well composed (well maybe not so much voigt). any dj can ad and remove tracks to beef up or tone down a release but then the creative thrust now lies with the dj and the credit cannot be given to the artist. i'm glad u like it but credit the dj : )
@LawrenceHill2010 - missing the point of youtube there, mate. it's a forum to provide feedback. i hear techno all the time so it's not like i don't get it its just some artists & tracks have the depth to stand alone - & others are just soundbites that if they need tooling obviously don't carry the strength to stand on their own without some help - if a track is nothing but a sound library that needs more work then call it that and don't try to elevate it to the status of legitimate composition
@markkil It's a tool track. It's basically just a loop. It's like something from 1994, without the distortion/overdrive. This is not a criticism. I don't thinnk any Techno artist would use such terminology as legitimate composition you pretentious fuckspaz.
@markkil i listened it at aquasella festival this summer and you can't imagine the impact of the track in the middle of a set....you don't expect to listen for that...for me it was one of the best tracks i listened in the ben klock & marcel dettmann set.... that sound is devastating! As other people say...it's a Dj tool faced to the dancefloor

@orivaa91 Fair enough, but I doubt you'll find a Techno DJ who doesn't use EQ.
