Interesting to learn so much from these WML clips- These are always a treasure of information about the "network" of the Biz...back in the era- No ! Never will Brad & Anjolina , or any other current "crop' of Hollywood weeds, ever stand as tall as the great ones - even at June's tiny 5' 1" she rises above the unpolished mass of dim bulb "stars" that proliferate the media today JUNIE reminds me of Debbie Reynolds in this appearance !
Omg! hahaha, I love how deep she makes her voice, I think her laugh could of gave her away! I love June Allyson. She was such an adorable woman who at times could be sexy when it was called for!
Connors in essence met two of his bosses that night- Rickey was GM of the Dodgers when he payed baseball and Four Star productions produced "The Rifleman".
June said to Louis B. Mayer, "I'm not a great beauty, I'm not a great actress, I'm not a great singer, I'm not a great dancer, how can I possibly have a movie career?" He told her, "The public makes stars; we don't make them; and you can't make yourself one. The public loves you and that's all you need." Of course she was cute as a button, a charming singer, a lovely dancer and an actress the camera adored. No mystery how she became a star.
I wish I'd seen that Larry King interview. I met her in the late 1970's, early 80's -- so she was smoking at that point. Glad to hear she quit, if that's what she wanted to do.
Thank you -- one of my favorites, Miss June Allyson. I had the good fortune to meet Miss Allyson when she was doing the dinner theaters with her second husband - the former dentist. We chatted in her dressing room for a half hour - a chain smoker (to my surprise) and just delightful. She signed a Glenn Miller Story original poster and we had a photo taken together, which I treasure. As I was leaving I gave the ultimate "girl next door" a kiss on the cheek. RIP Miss June.
I have on tape the Larry King interview I think in 2003? with June Allyson, and she said that her second husband helped her quit smoking, and he told her that she didn't need those (cigarettes) because she had him instead. She told it in a real sweet way, and told lots of good stories.
What sea is Dorothy Kilgallen drifting on tonight? She always played seriously and to win, but when she got off track it was doubly funny.
Everyone knew it 'twas June (2:42), and she got them ( 3:04 ) drifting off course. Danged interesting to know if Phyllis knew the dame in Bennett's lap.
Dorothy was a fashion expert of her time. However, as to her ( 2:24 ) frock tonight -- what did she feed that hairy garment?
A fascinating 1959 episode in which Chuck Connors, baseball player turned actor, gets to meet again none other than Branch Rickey (first mystery guest) who, as the Brooklyn Dodgers Manager, hired Connors for a stint with Da Bums.
I wonder if Brad Bitt and Anjolina Jolie will ever EVER demonstrate as much talent and class as Mr. and Mrs. Dick Powell.

I just saw that June Allyson is wearing the same kind of heart-shaped necklace that has become Arlene Francis' trademark!
Thanks again for posting this, it is a joy to see June Allyson, and of course 'The Gang'!

Haha, I would also dearly like to know what Phyllis thought of this clip and also which woman that did sit on Bennet's lap!
