Forget the sweeping. After vacuuming, you need a MICROFIBER DUSTING PAD to pick up fine dust particles. Wood floors should be cleaned with AS LITTLE WATER AS POSSIBLE, with a PAD. They should NEVER BE MOPPED. Never use Murphy's or any other kind of oil soap on wood floors. Use BONA hardwood floor cleaner or professional series spray, which is what 90% of professionals use.
Bruce's all the way. Much better than Murphy's oil soap. Murphy's leaves a film on your floor and they don't look shiny like with Bruce's. Now I will admit Bruce's is much, much more expensive. So when money is tight. I will alternate every other time with Bruces and Murphys and i put my Murphhy's oil soap in a spray bottle and use Mr. Clean's dust mop. Works pretty well.
Keep using the Murpys soap and you will need a new finish!!!!! Stripped the finish off my new wood floor, try the Touch of Oranges Wood Cleaner it keeps my floors clean wth using less water.
regular "wring out" style mops are always bad. so is murphy's soap. it leaves a residue no matter what you do. #1 Vaccum floors and base boards. #2 Use a flat terry cloth mop cover and a flat mop and Zep Hardwood floor cleaner. Be sure to wet the terry cloth and wring out before using. Once floors are dry #3 Use a swiffer sweeper to get up remaining dirt and particles. They will always be there no matter how thoroughly you mop. Mop covers can be washed and reused.

Shhhhhhh**t I'm back where I started. Murphy Oil is a really good on real wood, but not so much on fake. I've tried it and it didn't work.

Murphys does not belong on wood, I know enough to know you don't use soap and water for wood floors!!!! It strips the finish!!
