@FanFilm93 Worst Movie he ever made? Maybe, but it grows on you (IMO). Worst thing he EVER lent his name to? Far From it! That honor goes to a 1989 Sitcom (Yes, SITCOM) he Executive produced & Co-Wrote entitled "The People Next Door".
I have the pilot episode on my page if you doubt the claim. You've been warned.
@LastNetwork2 i've never seen sitcom. but i think i take a look on it. maybe it could be his worst thing he ever made, but wes cravens deadly friend is the worst MOVIE he ever made. i'm a big fan of his movies (scream, nightmare ..., serpent and shocker) but this movie sucked
@FanFilm93 Tastes Vary, "To each his own" as they say. I personally don't like it as a serious horror movie, but I wind up liking it for how cheesy it looks in retrospect. So, let's just say the movie is just "meh" IMO.
@LastNetwork2 ok its "meh"-movie ^^ (there some more movies that r more worse than that). i'm watching the pilot of the series now, and maybe you r right, its not a good series
@FanFilm93 It only lasted 5 episodes in the fall of '89 on CBS, plus there were 5 produced episodes that have never aired (Probably stored in the same place where they hide the Ark of the Covenant).
In the novel this is based from theres different endings.. of of them she says a passage before jumping to her death over greif of killing her friend. I think
so if i can remember wasnt the girl totally human when she died and he planted that chip in her brain? so how is it that she became a robot underneath?
@ghostfire1234 This was probably a dream sequence, probably a result that the death of the guy's friend scarred him for life with recurring nightmares of her spirit killing him. Theoretically speaking of course.
As much as I hate to doubt West Craven you are right @rka18282. Though it is shocking it is a rather pathetic attempt to get one last scare out of the audience. I have studied the book and I do agree the original ending would have been a lot better and a lot more meaningful that this.
@GrimmGrave yep, you're right on so many levels my friend. Also something that was completely absent from the novel is the fact that Paul, Slime and Sam are just kids, not frickin teenagers which made the movie just a slasher kinda flick instead. The fact that the main characters are kids and lots of other things absent in the movie ( the decay of Sam, the Bertrand Leonard character, the frickin ending, etc ) make the movie just a poor cash in of an awesome novel!
Ha apparently this ending wasn't even known by Wes Craven--it was conceived of by one of the studio heads (Deadly Friend, under a different name was originally meant to be a fairly sweet teenager movie--audiences got mad expecting a Craven scare fest so the studio made him go in and add tons of gore and nigthmare sequences--but this actual ending was shot even after that when he had left).
great movie....until that STUPID FUCKIN ENDING. should of kept the original emotional ending from the novel.. but this is a shallow hollyjewwood film, so thatd be expecting way too much!
it is his fault you know he used that girl for a lap experiment and this is what he got he should have let her be but no he had to go and do a very stupid thing
This movie IS pretty cool. It's just those god damn producers that wanted a different ending from what wes craven originally wanted. Lets all just think of this sequence as a dream and let those shit head producers burn in the cinema hell they created.
Let's just say I'd rather suffer a grizzly torture and given a blood transfusion to stay alive than to even spend my life with a woman. If you ask me, it's like the same damn thing. Kristy Swanson showed the excellent example of what women are really all about.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That's how I really see women as. Nothing more than a hideous monster under the skin and I think that they should leave us men the fuck alone. I'd rather have turpentine shot up my asshole than to even kiss a girl on the hand.
Well AJGreene it was so useful to hear that ignorant comment enjoy being a pathetic sexist pig who has nothing better to do then be an ass, please go die slowly in a fire now thank you.
One of these days, you'll know I'm right. Women does not deserve my respect whatsoever. I'm not religious but if I were to be, I would say that god was a man and the devil was a woman.
I heard that this wasn't the direction wes cravern wanted this film to go, but this is what the studio wanted. . . nonsense and gore. Also, he stated that he didnt like the ending. but again, this is what the studio wanted. Maybe, it would of been better if they gave him full control of the film. . . maybe!
I liked this movie when I was a kid not realising it was based on a book. After reading the book I realised something: THIS MOVIE F****IN SUCKS! The book is so different and far more superior! To all people who haven't read the book, do youself a favour and read it. You'll know what I mean.
how the hell did that robot get in there? i thought she was just sam w/ a chip in her head. now all of the sudden its a full scale robot like terminator? How the hell does that work?! someone plz explain.
I also took many many years.. close to 20 trying, to figure out the name of this movie. And I actually found it on a forum started by another guy who was looking for the same damn movie. It was extremely surreal.
Actually, no-- the snap came right at the moment when the scream ended, implying that the robot breaking his neck was the reason WHY Paul stopped screaming. But still, true, it wasn't really well done-- this was hardly what the trailer said, Wes Craven's scariest work ever...but still, not bad. Kristy Swanson was in it, after all.
Someone has to post the whole thing, I remember watching this, I think i was 12. I wasn't really scare because I knew that it was a cheesy 80's flick. The Basketball part was funny.
This scared me when I was a kid too, and now I see how cheaply made it was. Imagine if this movie were remade with a respectable budget and better makeup/effects...this scene would scare people senseless!
I don't know why....but when i was little...i used to cover my ears before she would say BEE BEE at the end...that was the ONLY part in the WHOLE movie that would scare me...weird...i know...
