This is so fun! To see the perspective of these people! I am thankful for today, but also thankful for the creation of this place. It continues to bring me, and millions of people happiness.
This is so amazingly nuts. Like stepping back into a time long before I was even thought of, where the year I was born, 1986, was the setting for Tomorrowland. The magic is so...tangible. I can't wait to go back.
The experience and thrills of a rocket ship on the Space Port turned into Pizza Port where the experience and thrills of a pepperoni pizza can be consumed on a daily basis.
freedogshapoo if you are going to disneyland today and you in the New Orleans Square waiting for the train look across you see what left of the Fontierland Station.
Back then there was hope for the future. The willingless to build ,to create. Capatalism. Now we have bailouts, Crooked inividuals, encluding envromentalists who are thinking i there self interest. I think America is waiting for someone else to do it. We need to get in this creativity mode again. Profit from indivualism is ok. it creates jobs.
@tissao88 Yes. And the reporters didn't hate America. Walt was as great example of what America is really all about. He was always taking the next step. Had an unbelievable work ethic. He hated unions.
Even if tomorrow land was out dated in reality Disney was ahead of its time with animatronics and such... This dude had some wild ideas , and themes at that
Well, Disney himself said that when by the time he opens Tomorrowland, it will already be outdated. Still, it's amazing to see what the past thought of the future. Makes you kinda wish you lived there instead of here.
Firehouse five plus two!?!?! you all realize that those guys are the great disney animators right? wow, this stuff is unbelievable...i wish i coulda been there in person
yeah I noticed. Maybe they added tracks because the had accidents and hit each other and slide around everywhere...so they added tracks...That's my guess.

Bob Cummings kissing the girl and getting caught on camera - real or staged? :)
animagusurreal 3 years ago
Real. The show, like the rest of the opening day in general was plagued with miscues, bloopers and other goofs.

Yeah.. That was obviously staged though:)

The last line of this segment;
"The power of the atom. And if you grow up be certain that you use it wisely."
IF you grow up. Not all of you are going to be growing up, you know.
Truth. It is a harsh mistress.
okbass 3 years ago 3
There was an entire episode of the Disneyland TV show all about the atom, which is hosted by Dr. Haber.

its amazing the changes to Disneland but keeping main street pretty much the same

Of course, even Main Street had its share of updates, albeit relatively minor compared to the rest of the park.
