I just watched the video titled "JIMMY DELGADO en el bongo 1" on Utube and he places the accent on the 3rd beat always on both sides of the clave just as the martillo dictates...not sure what to think?

should the accent (slap) on the 3 side of the clave always be on the "second beat". He does this constantly"? I was taught the martillo had the accents on 1 & 3 on "both sides" of the clave? When he does these variations he places the accents on the 2nd beat of the 3 side of the clave..is this just a product of his "incorrect "hand positioning after the accent on the &of 4 with his left hand ...or is it "correct"? Anyone else notice this?

im glad i found this guy ...im brand new to the bongos. do you need to oil the heads at all, to keep them from drying out or anything?

If you have raw hide heads you might want to. But I suggest synthetic heads if you live in such a place where the weather changes. You'll get more life out of the head and you don't have to de-tune. The way you left it is the way you'll find it. Less maintenance. Both are great though. Good luck

You should see how most white people play them it's horrible (I'm white but I listen to everything)!!!

I already have a bit of technique down from trying to watch and listen to people like Mongo Santamaria and Mingo Lewis (among others), but having authentic online lessons to learn from is very nice. :)
