@Taopuppy Hi, The Royal house of Sweden will keep the name Bernadotte. The name follows the regent, no matter gender. The same principle applies in Denmark where the Queen hold her family name Glücksburg, and in Great Britain where Elizabeth II's family name is Windsor (They changed it from Sachen-Coburg-Gotha in 1917, because it sounded too German, who was the main enemy during WWI.)

@fingal61 Actually, about Great Britain, I'm not sure that is strictly true. Queen Victoria was of the House of Hanover. It changed to Saxe Coburg-Gotha with her son, Edward VII, who took the name from his father, Prince Albert. Maybe it's different in the other countries which now practice absolute primogeniture where birth order determines right of succession regardless of gender.

There were many non-Swedish people attending and many of them dignitaries and Royals from other countries. Typically when they get together at events, they speak English to each other.

I actually don't know why, but I don't really think he's speech was worth the headlines. I mean, yes, it was beautiful but not so special - I've been in a few weddings and I don't think this speech any different from them. Now, keeping in mind this is a speach designed for a royal wedding, that usually does not permit too much frame, and additionally that is broadcasted to the halv of the world... then i think it was very special indeed.
