  • Is that a texas cichlid at 00:50?

  • can i have one with dinosour bichirs and other south american cichlids in a 150 gallon tank and i love your ornaye bichir it is ausome

  • nice tank!

    the fish look happy :)

  • That's crazy... How do you get the Bichir and the clown loaches to coexist?

  • he is so beautiful

  • love the bichir i might get one soon

  • Are these related to snakehead fish? Lots of related videos are snakehead fish vidz.

  • @psychoninja911 No, no relation to snakeheads. Those are illegal here. :(

  • i also have a polypterus ornatipinnus in a 75 gallon tank, my oscar just died so now i want other fish can u help me out and tell me what u recomend for my tank and i have gold severum

  • @52ColtsFan24 Register at Monsterfishkeepers. You'll get lots of help and advice for your tank and stock.

  • is paying that much for one worth it?

  • can a 24 inch ornate bichir can live his whole lifespan at a 75 gallon tank?

  • @bxzel0915 I don't think he would be comfortable. You should probably go with a delhezi bichir because they don't get as big.

  • How long is your bichir?

You have a beautiful tank, by the way. :)

  • GREAT TANKDUDE! Love your bichir

  • can anyone help!? my bichir has been swiming wierd its like the back half of its body is paralized and he struggles to turn around in hiding places. my tanks 55 gallons and he is about 7 inches. had him for about 5 months.

  • I REALLY WANT A BICHIR!!!!! Something tells me it won't be a good idea with my current set up. I have a planted 36 bowfront, with a betta, clown loaches, 1 yoyo and 2 mollies as of now...heh...not a got idea huh? XD Well at least as a grow out tank.

  • @mercedesff2 Most of the fish would eventually end up as a snack.

  • @mercedesff2 you couldget one of these delhezi bichir there nice and they only grow to about a foot long

  • dude is my tank ok for a ornate bichie look at my vid

  • hey balton stunning bichir n a great tank, cud u plz tell me the name of the gold fish wiv the red fins????thanks :)

  • were can i buy one

  • @moormandrm If they don't have them at your lfs, then you could order one off the inernet. But if you want to get one, do some research on them first or you may end up wasting your money. And also, be prepared to provide a fairly large tank for it once it is an adult. Their average adult size is 18-24", so they need about a 125g as the bare minimum.

  • I Love your Bichir, so lively!

  • What size tank is that? I have a 150, and my dovii won't let anything live there. Yours is nice btw.

  • hey do you live in iowa?

  • Get a life loser1

  • I think it's not bichir. Probably polypterus ornatipinnis?

  • @WingedAtheris LMAO, I'm sure you probably know by now, but P. ornatipinnis is a bichir.

"Bichir" is just a common name used to describe any species of the Polypterus genus.

  • @drgnfrc13 It was just misunderstanding)In Russia "bishir" mean exactly nile bichir(Polypterus bichir)

I did not know that you call all of them bichir)

  • @WingedAtheris Oh, yeah there's no mistaking an ornate for a pbb. :)

  • what are those plants on either corner of the aquarium? I've seen them a lot and always wondered what they were called.

  • I'm not sure what they're called, I get them at Michael's (a hobby store) for cheap and they look just like the one's Petsmart sells but for 1/3 the price..

  • I'm not sure what they're called, I get them at Michael's (a hobby store) for cheap and they look just like the one's Petsmart sells, except bigger and for 1/3 the price..

  • @balton777 were do you live

  • @cpawar Dallas, Tx area.

  • @AA84 lol polyurithane plastic is what they are called

  • @AA84 there bamboo leaves

  • Whats the name of those plants you have on either corner of the tank? I've seen them often and always wondered what they were.

  • Can Bichirs go well with African Mbuna Cichlids and plecos?

  • omg nice dovii!

  • Nice Bichir!!! I also love the Wolf Cichlid you got in there!

  • Nice tank

  • hey balton whats your secret on introducing none aggressive fish like clownloaches and bichirs to an aggressive tank like that? I'm currently growing up from silverdollers for my 240gal tank with a trimac, jaguar, and oscar. I'd love to introduce a bichir and clown loaches aswell but am very scared as to a quick lunch. I was thinking about removing the other fish and letting them settle in the like a half hour later reintroducing the cichlids. I would love to know how you do it. Thanks Jordan

  • Jbee, IME, most cichlids are only aggressive towards other cichlids or fish they feel are a threat. For the most part they completely ignore bichirs and CL's. I've lost some silver dollars and tinfoil barbs to cichlids though.

  • my jd attacked a fire mouth I used to have but I have a peacock eel a Rafael catfish and a rubber lip pleco and he leaves them alone. and hes not a docile fish he attacks the gravel vac. they only feel threatened by other cichlids it wouldn't perceive the other fish as a threat to his or her territory

  • wow i love your fish!

  • hello..can a 10cm senegal birchir and a 10cm rainbow snakehead be in the same tank? will they fight?

  • Only if you want to use them as feeders.

  • can u check out my vid i think it called a senegal can you tell me how big it wil get and where can i find a oranate birchir in spring texas

  • these guys are soo lively i have a pair for the past 5 years and have breed a few times but the are so fun to have

  • No offence but in my opinion the Senagal Birchir are so much better Senegal's look better and grow bigger too. Nice Birchir thou and tank 5"

  • No offense taken or meant back but I think you've been misinformed.

  • Haha right. To each their own, but I'd have to second your response. I've had a Senegalus, and might buy an ornate and I'll tell you Ornates look much nicer

  • @Tomb611 sengals only are supposed to grow up to a foot-ish, maybe more. ornates can get a lot bigger

  • Iamma get another one

  • thanks ohsolamejames.

bfuckingrod, I feed the other fish in the evening. Before I go to sleep, I throw in a bunch of Massivore pellets and turn out all the lights. He and the Weeksii eat in the dark.

  • So how do you feed him without the other fish taking the food?

  • wikkid tank niice

  • Hey what sizes the tank?

    nice tank btw ;)

  • Thanks, it's 265 gallons.

  • aWSOME I WANT ONE WOULD THEY BE OKAY WITH A BLACK GHOST KNIFE FISH. IN A 55 GALLON.SMALL ONE

  • They're fine with almost any fish as far as I know but 55 gallons will probably be too small for an Ornate. I think they grow about 24". They're plenty of other kinds of bichirs though that would be fine. I'd recommend a Delhezi.

  • the poly just ruined the look of the whole tank. what a shame.

  • WHY. i ADMIT HE IS NOTHING LIKE THE OTHER FISH BUT THAT MAKES HIM LIKE A CENTER PEICE.

  • No way, he's awesome! :-)

  • BULL SHIT the ornate bichir is such a cool fish i have a small gray and it is just too cool!

  • beautiful tank, beautiful fish. :)

  • thanks

  • 1 Longfin Senegal

    1 Senegal

    Pair of filament barbs

    5 clown loaches

  • nice ornate, he seems very active. Those are some beefy clowns too. What other non-cichlids are there?
