Lindy Ruff was a huge chicken in this whole brawl. Chris Neil completly lays out Chris Drury cleanly, then because he's a baby, he sends out his tough guys against Spezza, Heatley and Alfredsson who obviously don't want to fight. The only guy on Ottawa who wanted to fight was Emery and they send two guys at him. I'd love to see how Lindy Ruff can defend this.

Games in Ottawa are a sea of blue and white. Leafs Nation is strong-our team just can't win that damn CUP. Ah,60's hockey-great hockey and not just the Leafs either. OK- I gave you guys a break because the St. Pat's were pretty much the Leafs, just a name change.
As to Ottawa being secular (i.e., not entirely devout Sens fans) well, that's just a matter of time. Like me, most will gradually come to realize that their fading affection for the original six is blinding them to the fact that the SENS are the team of the future.
Too many teams? Absolutely! We need an NHL franchise requirement that all owners must have actually experienced ice and snow.

I agree with laversano (see below). Here in Ottawa they cling to that turn of the last century team as though it is the foundation of the current team - it's Ottawa's way of feeling like they belong - since they are geographically wedged between two great Original Six teams - Montreal and Toronto.

Sure, the original owners/managers made some bad decisions -- almost bankrupt the franchise before it had a chance to hit stride. But Melnyck is a different kind of owner and you've got to admit that our coaching staff has had more class than most. Emery is not at any disadvantage. The guy boxes in his spare time! I agree that players shouldn't fight goalies, but Emery was the only guy who wanted to fight. Spezza was hugging the linesman, Heatley was trying to blend into the bench.
I respect the hell out of Emery, but the rest of the team left their brass in the locker room.
