Overall though, after a 2nd viewing, it all makes sense-ish. Yes, things could've been a LOT worse, without dialysis he'd be dead after his next hot-dog. A courageous unflinching dialogue bristling with irony, with tongue firmly planted in cheek so as not to take one's self too seriously.

I hit Roger Ebert up about this movie, and sent him straight to the hospital! LOL But from 'Harold And Cindy Hospital' to 'The Illustrated Family Doctor' is ironic indeed. Still think if Tom did the soundtrack to The Quiet Earth, it'd be a much better movie.
