I haven't seen that PSA since the early 80's!! I as 14 but remember when they were on earlier. Just doesn't seem that long ago! Wow! Thanks for posting a great memory!
@SFChronicle - So, how can we get you to post the Bits & Pieces with Humphrey Hambone and Pussyfoot where Pussyfoot says "I apologize for pokin' yous in the nose"???
Please please please please please find the means to post that clip.
"you don't have to pay" great now what'd he telkl the librarian if hr borrowed the book for more than a month w/o renewing it "oh my freind Charlie said i do'nt have to pay for it??"
Thank you SF Chronicle and an even BIGGER THANK YOU to Mr. Pat McCormick! This will forever be special to me (and my children!). Can you share the one about Bee's?
If you were a kid in the SF bay area in the early 70's you may remember this one...Charley's monologue was comedy gold to this young mind who repeated it over and over and over..."Moby Dick - Yeah! Moby Dick - the great white whale and the maaaaaad Captain Ahab and the tattooed harpooner named Queequeg"
It is a shame there wasn't VHS tapes 20 years earlier or Channel 2 had archived/taped these shows. All of the Charlie and Humphrey shows were priceless, especially the ones with Sneezer (an adult male voiced worm) and the Punk Kid (child age worm) who was always calling Sneezer "Mommy." KTVU had other quality shows such as Brother Buzz for children (a marionette Honey Bee).
@vividwatch47 I do remember. Pat was a genius doing comedy. At one time he also hosting Dialing For Dollars Movie afternoon show (Bob March did shorter morning version). Pat was doing the Punk Kid voice and the caller came on the phone just when Pat said "Hi, is your mommy at home?" Pat got into trouble after saying Bob brushed his teeth with Tidy Bowl; Pat had to warn the children watching Dialing for Dollars not to do so on air. If only the VCR had come out 20 years earlier.
@Renshen1957, he also did anotther where then KTVU general manager Roger Rice became "Roger Potato" who goes into a tirade about his wife putting too much sugar in his coffee.
Holy Dang. I completely forgot about them. WOW. We had the best childhood in the history of human existence. You could just tell these people cared about kids.
I remember this BUT NOT WITH THAT INTRO. I only remember the "Bits and Pieces" intro...but that END I swear is from Stan Freberg "John & MArsha." think about that!!!
I really appreciate this.......any older versions of the show? Humphrey used to have a different hat. I was very sick as a child and used to watch them from my hospital bed. They were like "friends" to me because I didnt get to be around alot of people my age, and I had to be very sedentary so I couldn't go outside and play so I was a TV addict and this show meant alot to me.

Who did the music played during the intro of this PSA?
I remember watching this show as a little rug-rat.

@KimmiKat the artist is perrey and kingsley, the title is "barnyard in orbit" - - the snippet we hear here is about 33 seconds into the song.

@Renshen1957, do you remember the parody of KTVU's editorial spot "Outlook" called "Lookout"? It showed Sneezer doing a parody of KTVU's editoriial.
