  • @1SoulonFire the song is Airtap

  • he is riding the guitar!

  • wow u mean 2 tell me that not alot of ppl know about this? this video needs 2 b promoted cuz i have never seen any1 play a guitar like that! u need 2 find a way 2 promote this!

  • deserves more views!

  • Very cool!

  • Real life August Rush...

  • It is fantastic when somebody can actually come up with an original way of doing something that has been done a million times.

    Stunning!

  • Wow this is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great sound

  • "Air Tap!" is the name of the song, for those wondering =)

  • tit sounds like 3 guitars at once

  • what tuning is this in?

  • @savinggrace1 most likely DADGAD or another open tuning

  • the hard part in this is buying one of rhose guitars -.-

  • You know, when you think about it, playing the guitar with it in your lap that way is probably the easiest way to get the most out of the instrument. It gives you more versatility with your fingers and the use of the body for percussion. Too bad i can't play like that

  • August Rush was a great movie, wonderful storie line.

  • Great use of harmonics too

  • Something like Stanley Jordan's playing style.

  • insane....-_-

  • august rush

  • wow... hes amazing

  • it reminds me of an old video game theme songs lol... great playing

  • HEYY CES BELL ET BUM !!!!

  • This just goes to show what a versitile instrument the guitar is. Great playing

  • Reminds me of Andy McKee...

  • incredible use of harmonics

  • ahaha this guy is amazazing

  • *Does the robot*

  • amazing

  • if any yall are wondering the tuning is in FACFCf and yeah check out my cover of this, its not the same i through some of my own in it.

  • u might as well be a piano player

  • I prefer to tapping with 8 fingers to playing the piano. and try hitting a harmonic on a piano!

  • i've not listened to this style of playing much, and prefer stanley jordon, but this fella gets it done!

  • he IS fingertapping..

  • It's sarcasm.

  • Holy smokes...this dude is crazy talented!

  • "if only this guy new how to finger tap..." are you being sarcastic?

  • Yikes! this dude is sick man, I know a little tapping but this dude is like....woah...

  • OH MY GOD !!!

  • OMG! it's sooo good!

where can i download his music?

  • Haha, you could buy it. But I download too, lol.

  • if you guys think erik mongrain is good...check out don ross...he doesn't do airtap or anything like that but hes fricken good

  • I've seen alot of people do this kind of thing, but VERY few have done it this well and this musically. More than a trick - this is music I would actually LISTEN to.

  • i think i need like a full year to learn to play like this

  • Probably longer than a year buddy. This is the kind of technique that comes with a decade or more of practice.

  • america's got talent hahaha thats Erik Mongrain from Canada . he's on world tour in japan right now. yes it can be done without amplification and YES it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT .. or there would be more people doing it .. see my video .. i do this style too .

    Jeff Williams / guitarist

  • from canada, but hasn't he spend like almost all of his life in spain?

  • sweet. = )

  • I wonder what kind of tuning he was in

  • that is AMAZING...HE IS REALLY GOOD...THERE IS AMERICANS GOT TALENT STAR..RIGHT THERE...

  • he's canadian....

  • I am canadian too. :)

  • Really?! WOW! GOOD FOR YOU!

  • omg me too, and I am even from quebec same has erik mongrain ;)

  • he's canadian ;)

  • that is preety cool

  • Thats great , I love this vid

  • its a fucking normal tapping .... :) its great

  • this isnt just normal lap guitar, what hes doing is so original its not even funny, when he hits the harmonics with his finger like that isnt brand new, but how many people do you see putting a regular acoustic guitar on their lap and getting a chime sound out of it, while doing percussion and melody all at the same time

  • its an acoustic electric there is no way of doing it with a regular acoustic

  • incorrect. you can get percussion, harmonic slaps, and all the taps without being hooked up to anything. and actually the way he does harmonic slaps is pretty unique.

  • Michael Hedges

  • Jeez. Thats gr8. I play Indian Carnatic and he has almost made it sound like the veena

  • While it's true that lapstyle is not that special or unique, this guy is very good at it. It's very cleanly played.

    Sounds very tasty, non?

  • this is lap guitar its not unique, its one of the easiest ways to alternativly use the instrument.

although i cant do it :P

  • Yes Yes but the guy is playing in an unorthodox style. Therefore he can not be included in the great debate on "who is the most awesome guitarist on the planet" ( just kidding)

  • il est vraiment trè

    s bon

  • i wish i had skill like that... than id make all of you jizz in your pants!

  • Great Stuff...

  • It does sound beautiful, but all he's doing is hammers and harmonics. If you like him you should look up Andy McKee. Another amazing artist.

  • Oh yeah, "all he's doing is this" like you have sussed him or blown his secret or something. It's music, not a competition?

  • holy shit fckn amazing beautiful sound:|!

  • Fantastic. From all the fat people in the audience I'm guessing this is in middle America somewhere. Is Erik Mongrain from the US?

  • wilcowoods: It's in Montreal. Those must be tourists, because MTL has the world's sexiest women!

  • OMG!

  • Wow...jaw dropped...and it takes A LOT for a gutarists to do that to me

  • The song is called AirTap. The Dudes name is Eric Mongrain. Friggin good job .. loved the harmonics!

  • Soooo Good!

  • i humble myself to the music and talent god has given this man. play onward brother, you have inspired me so much

  • also name of song anyone?

or have i completly missed it again...

  • ah yes now i see, i thought it was foreign and didnt realise it was his name haha

  • this sounds so nice, very peaceful. excelent

  • Does anyone what this mans names is?

    hes very talented.

  • Its Erik Mongrain.... it's said and written at the beginning.

  • something about this style of guitar gives me a happy feeling.... :D

  • wow that is something very new...amazing

  • holy fuck!!!

  • haha very nice style... he plays very good in his own style!

  • sick.

  • amazing

  • I don't like playing guitar anymore when i see this..

  • where can i buy this guy's cd? amazingly great music!!!

  • this is awesome!!!!

  • Shame it's a lot of show off the guitar standing on his lap, he could play the same if it was the standard way, it's only image this kind of playing.

  • I'd doubt he could recreate the tone he is getting from playing in this position. Plus all the slapping and tapping at the same time wouldn't work out if the guitar was held in the traditional way. If anyone thinks I'm wrong upload a video playing this tune in the standard position and I'll gladly eat humble pie :)

  • Agreed.

  • And agreed again !

  • That style of playing is called air tapping. Some of it can be done standing up holding guitar in the traditional style but only some of it. The rest of it has to be done the way it is done due to the way acoustics work in the guitar.

  • Dude .. Do it in the standard way and post it .. If u can do it then fine .. else shut the fuck up!

  • he's the man!

  • This guy's great.

  • wow, i think i wanna try this lol
