  • 31 persone meritano lady gaga

  • Didn't this guy sister turn out to be his mother ....eek !

  • "In an era of cool, He was the soundtrack" I wish music like this and the Rat Pack would make a comeback

  • Just for refined people! :D

  • ESTE ES EL SONIDO LOCAL DE CHEYR'S STUDIO!

    BUENA ROLITA!

  • mucho awesome!!!

  • This was the number 1 song on my mother's birth date...September 29, 1959.

  • Bobby Darin is definitely a "Mack Daddy"

  • THE definitive version of a truly fantastic song. It's been covered by EVERYONE, sometimes even quite well (Check out the Dinah Shore/Pearl Bailey version on YT), but really, it's THIS version that sets the standard. I used to play this 45 over and over on my stereo, and fifty years later it hasn't lost any of its freshness. A timeless classic, as all good music should be..

  • @njplr I agree with you to degree, however for music purists, and I dare say Mr. Darin himself would agree, Louis Armstrong sung the definitive version........

  • people should stop associating all swing music with bioshock. it is pretty awesome but still.

  • this will be awsome for a bioshock movie >:D

  • i'll listen to this no matter how old i am. and i first heard it when i was in high school

  • 30 people need to meet Mister MacHeath.

  • Best version by far. He owned this song.

  • @boc234 He most certainly did!! Never get tired of this song.

  • Second only to the great Louis Armstrong :)

  • this song is such a horrible cover. I prefer and recommend the frank sinatra and jimmy buffet´s cover version. damn! that´s great!

  • @MrMrchristian10 I love Sinatra, but this version is far superior. Sinatra and Buffet's version is more annoying than great to me.

  • i feel inlove with this (so vioent its commical) song once i heard it one night. Im so happy the lyrics stuck in my head or else i would have never found the title.

too bad we cant enjoy music like this today.

    nothing but violence crap now.

  • They see me rollin', they hatin'. (...)

  • Just started watching the Sopranos, and music about murdering people certainly is hep.

  • Yeah, type in Mack the Knife, DUH.

  • i can't listen to this song without movin' my shoulders...

  • one of the greatest songs ever recorded. period.

  • #655

  • How does one go from Mack the knife -> Splish, Splash -> If I were a Carpenter.. It's so weird, I guess thats what a decade can do to ya.

  • Mack is back!!!

  • This song has such a slick beat, I can't get it out of my head!

  • @kiailol thats called earworm i think...

  • The most upbeat song about a multiple murderer ever made.

  • @Dojack Maxwells Silver Hammer - The Beatles ;)

  • @ConnorSherlockHolmes Shit, I completely forgot about that one.

  • This was the Number 1 song in America the day I was born. Great song.

  • @brianequi you are old man!!!

  • @anonimo3030 why did you point out he is old?

  • love dancing to this song

  • Pan am <3

  • these kind of songs are best experienced laying back in a leather comfy chair sipping a good scotch.

  • lol, good thing cause w out audio all your left w is a pic of bobby.

  • perfection::: i do compose and im left fingerless when i hear that!!!!:)

  • this is my karaoke song! LOVE IT!

  • The ultimate serial killer song..LOL

  • That should be Dexter's new theme song...

  • Feeble, weak, frail, sweet, powerful Bobby Darin. Take that, Lotte Lenya!

Why is it only the good and excellent die young?

  • Happiest song about a serial killer ever ; P For years I didn't know that was what this song was about....

  • How in the world are there 28 dislikes on this!?! This is one of the all-time-greatest hits ever made!!!!! TY for posting! RP

  • Died too young. I think he would have had a great acting career.

  • ..a classic, uptempo, cheerful little ditty about a womanizing serial killer.

    quaint.

  • @nativesun ...hmmmnnnn...one of the good ones... (picture Jackie Gleason saying this)

  • @nativesun If you think that's odd, go listen to Butcher Pete.

  • @nativesun I was scared out of my pants as I was just on my way to school listening to this then I realised it's about a killer o_O lol!

  • hey vixenhime i like that kind of music too because my parents would always play this music, and my dance teacher used this music for her dances, ex. mack the knife, boogie woogie bugle boy, neutron dance, hit the road jack, if my friends could see me now, and so on... i always liked it although a lot of my friends wanted her to do modern stuff, and now she's changed and were doing "born this way", yea i remember 2008 and 2009 there was a hit jazz dance to this involving fold-able chairs

  • I was born at the end of 92. I have always loved the music from decades before i was born. My mother always calls me old because I would be in the house listening to songs like Mack the Knife, Boogie Woogie Buggle Boy, Jetplane, and Summer Wind. And I think i will always have a special place in my heart for Frank Sinatra

  • My friend told me her grandma had a Bobby Darin classic hits cassette....I HAVE IT NOW :) Love my friend.

  • A few years back, New York oldies station CBS-FM did a countdown of the 500 biggest-selling singles in New York City history. This was Number 1.

Number 2 was "Boogie Oogie Oogie" by A Taste of Honey. Well, there's not always accounting for taste...

  • whoa, Sukey Tawdry

  • My Mum's favourite and it was played at the end of her funeral on Saturday 31st December 2011 which brought smiles to everyones face - love you and miss you Mum x

  • @Mozgor My mother, who was 12 at the time, absolutely HATES this song. This and "Sixteen Candles." But I love them both.

  • Doesn't matter how old you are, this is for people genuinely appreciate music.

  • Ahhh La Bella Mafia (lol)

  • John1948OneA

I first heard Splish Splash in a bar in Singapore in the late 50s and thought it was a bit trite, but the voice was there. I also heard his Queen of the Hop and Sharin' Sharon with the same results. But then he produced Dream Lover which I really enyoyed as a piece of pop. But "Mack" sealed it for me. I bought several of his LPs in the early 60s, including This is Darin and Twist as US imports, and Clementine and Guys and Dolls sealed it for me. From there it was all terrific.

  • 0:01

  • My favourite song EVER, and I'm 15.

  • I believe this version of the song was used in the 50's movie "Slaughter on 10th Avenue".

  • I brought myself here, loved this since I was 8. Thank you, grandpa

  • Bobby shows how it's done.

  • @pwrl true

  • While rock 'n'roll was raging (which I loved too) came Bobby Darin, a new talent, who had just 14 years left in which to cram his career. But what a career. This won him a Grammy for the best record of 1960, he was nominated for an Oscar, and had great hits like Beyond the Sea, Clementine, If I were a Carpenter etc. And a treasure trove of standards.

Luckily he made a great number of records. a lot of which are on here. He has a star on Hollywood Boulevard. Second only to Sinatra for me.

  • @anthonyhollis100 Bobby did rock and roll too. Check out Splish Splash. youtube[DOT]com/watch?v=oMCsc4Iqvqc

  • Only in Michael Buble's dreams.

  • Just a jackknife

    has old mbaggyheatbayy

  • I love this song my history teacher sang it all the time :)

  • I have to ask, who are all these people he name drops in this song? I guess they were famous at some point, either that or friends of whoever wrote the song.

  • @dragonpullman23 vitims.

  • @dragonpullman23 Jenny Diver, Suky Tawdry and Lucy Brown were all characters in the musical that this song comes from (The Threepenny Opera, by Bertolt Brecht).

Oddly, Lotte Lenya was not a character; she was a real person who often PLAYED Jenny, and also the wife of Kurt Weill, the composer of the score to the musical.

The original words to the song are German, so English singers have often felt free to, uh, take liberties with the lyrics for dramatic and/or comedic effect.

  • @modusvivendi2 I see, thanks for letting me know.

  • the definative version

  • @mymymymy6 definitive*

  • smooth as snake hair

  • Line forms on the right babe...

  • DUBSTEP VERSION!

  • @IkariImortal That might work if they made it a bit more subtle than other remixes.

  • @alteregoash

that's exactly what i feel should be intended.. if i had enough equipment to make the remix, i would. and it'd sound awesssoooomme ^_____^

  • faultless recording *****star

  • My most favorite ! Just got to Dance.. Dont know how you could not?..........

  • I find that this music is more of my style rather than the music listened to today. I was born in 94 so im generations ahead. I don't wish I lived in the era of this music however because life was difficult. But I'm thankful that this type of music exists today for people like me, and for the people who grew up with it.

  • @lolpranksta thats top comment worthy :B
