  • WHOOOOOO ,ROCK THAT THANG!!!

  • Listen to Tony Ludiker play OBS with the flying w wranglers. He is a five time grand national fiddle champion. Way better than this guy.

  • isnt this supposed to be the hardest fiddle song ever? if so... i wanna learn it

  • Drunken monkey on the drums

  • I watched his thumb all through the song and it never left his hand. It was really well played.

  • this guy is really good! Only when you can do it better do you have room to criticize, and I doubt there are too many who can!

  • @spitfirepam Amen.

  • stop with the hatter comments. he is actually really good, i have heard quite a bit of fiddle music, and its not easy to think up a good OBS. i can say that knowing because i am a fiddle player too.

  • he must have been the only one iin the contest.i have seen lots better rhan that

  • This guy plays differant than any one I have ever seen does he play anything else

  • i saw this guy play at rockin' r ranch when i was a little kid back in 1992

  • I am sorry, but Charlie Daniels plays this a LOT better

  • @GeekBoy03 Does Charlie Daniels play fiddle??

  • @Kilhamjim You are joking right? Try putting that name in that search bar above.

  • It's fine, but the drums are a big distraction --

  • Its so cool and gross at the same time. It's so grool.

  • yeah, he bends his wrist a lot, that means he doesnt have bones in them.

  • its like super mario song

  • he appears to have a lot tension built up in his neck, jaw, shoulders, and upper back. highly doubtful he is classically trained. notice with the bow girp. he never puts his pinky down on the stick and he has a chicken wing for his bow arm. the "chinrest" is not a chin rest, but a jaw rest. props on the flexible wrist.

  • @slviolinist why are you coming on here with all this shit; there is no need for a synopsis of his technique, and who cares if he's classically trained or not he can play a mean fiddle.

  • @Cocoheadedcannibal it was simply a reply to others thoughts on being classically trained or not. yes, he does play a mean fiddle. there is no need to be an ass about it.

  • This guy needs to learn the goddam tune and then get an imagination transplant. Watch Vasser Clements to see how it's done!! For the record he does not have a classically trained grip on that bow (not that there's anything wrong with that per se).

  • @EblockShorty you need an ear transplant, and this comments page needs to be purged of all 'classically trained' references. Your comment is nothing but a precious, elitist bunch of pretentious bullcrap.

  • All we need here is a drummer and we would have a pretty good band.

  • Its like he is paint with his bow

  • Nice playing - love the rubber wrists and ceramic hat!

  • somehow I doubt if he was "classically trained", just by the position of his left-hand thumb.

  • @COSMICBUM who gives a shit?! thanks for stating your brilliant knowledge though!

  • @COSMICBUM and that noodly right hand. I love to see/ hear it nonetheless.

  • @COSMICBUM and timimg

  • This man was classically trained. That wrist action was one of the first things we were taught.

  • While this sounds good - he is not playing it correctly! He is missing some of the runs and is adding lib terribly!

  • @tsquiers so what, there is some improv allowed in fiddle playing - there are so many different versions of the SAME fiddle tune, and who is to say which one is correct?

  • @tsquiers Glad somebody else noticed! Ad libbing is required but first you gotta play the tune, fer chrissakes!

And your ad libs have to be musically coherent and add something to the performance. I guess this guy is champion of not playing the tune and sometimes going pretty fast. There are hundreds of clips of this and many of them leave this in the dust for speed and musicality; some of the youngsters just leave me with my mouth hanging open.

  • out of tune

  • @skitzo429 nope

  • @Cocoheadedcannibal haha thats not debatable, youre clearly not a real musician, any one with ears can hear that

  • @skitzo429 i bet your like that with everything you say.

  • Excellent performance

  • 10 dodos

  • "Championship" fiddlers have won some amateur competition somewhere. Want to hear some REAL fiddlin? Search for Vernon Derrick, now deceased, formerly with the Stanleys, Jimmy Martin, Hank, Jr., Hank III and others. I'm not knocking Danny boy. He won the competition and was probably the best fiddler in the contest.

  • wish i could play the orange blossom special like that

  • You know, people keep commenting on the wrist, but I think that movement is made both possible and neccesary from the specific way he's gripping the bow like that.

  • @Chefodeath a lot of professionals grip their bow kinda like that but don't necessarily bend their wrist that much, it must just be his unique playing style

  • Comment removed

  • fiddle always amusing! but what is this sound at 3.20 ? he did it with his fiddle ? damned amusing !

  • The fiddler is terrific, too bad the band is terrible.

  • I think the drummer got a little lost? they were all over the place. Too bad cause the fiddle player is good

  • Jeeeeez - that is the LOOSEST wrist I've ever seen! LOL Looks like it's double jointed!!! Guy plays with a western swing twang sound to his bowing.....nice

  • Jeeeeez - that is the LOOSEST wrist I've ever seen! LOL Looks like it's double jointed!!!

  • wow!!! his wrist is sooooooo smooth!!

  • I'm not "in" to this music but this guy has talent!!!

  • He looks like he's ridin' a horse!!!! LOL

  • Aack. That drummer's gotta go! He's louder than the fiddler! lol

  • I wish I could play like that. I can't even play Chopsticks on the piano.

  • Champion of what?

  • if you think this movie is good already, try it on bubble hash!!

  • @ponetastic HA HA HA, Yeah that makes it better

  • dude i would love to see him duel Charlie daniels in his prime, that would be sick!!!

  • "say faster" LOL

  • hes good so it doesnt matter how he olds the bow

  • Actually suzuki violin teaches you to bend your wrist like that, I know, im taking lessons right now. However the arm looked strange to me too.

  • Hahahaha Suzuki does NOT teach you to hold the bow like that........you are SO EPIC wrong its not even funny..

  • hey kokblowernaner, I didnt say hold the bow, i said bend your wrist.

  • Great music but his arm and wrist look weird...

  • .. that technique looks awkward..

  • hes not cutin it up hard like they sometimes do but im sure he can

  • sorry but i'm not impressed....band was horrible and nothing technical on fiddle players part...just my 2 cents

  • AMAZING IS ALL I CAN SAY!!!!!!!!!!! I am a classical violinist and would give up my arms to learn how to play this!!!!!!!!!!!

  • boy then you sure would look dumb knowen how to play it but haven no arms... Lolz...and i agree with Rappinfiddler.....not impresive atall...

  • Country sisters do the best version of this tune.

Check em out and tell me if I'm wrong. :)

  • Yee-Haw! 5+Star's!

    Great performances!

    Very best of wishes!

    GinMillBill

  • i can do that... but i don't want to

  • artful playing!

  • as a violinist myself, i am loving this guy's technique...wow

  • this aint not violinist. this is a fiddler

  • Way to go, I love it! Great Job!!!!!

  • this song takes skill even on the beginner lvl of the song, this guy does fairly well but hes still doing a simple version of the song that a 10yr old could play. kinda sad really tho he is fairly good

  • thats a shitty house band

  • GO Danny!! Fabulous job!

  • Yes, Fabulous he is.

  • Fiddle CHAMPION

  • Drummers screw up everything they touch. Awesome fiddle playin'.

  • Nice!

  • that dude's wrist is sick :)

  • If you think this guy can play obs go to Jacie Sites and check that one out!

  • That is some amazing bow technique. does this guy even HAVE bones in his wrist????

  • Man, you're right--that is the most incredible right hand and wrist 'form' I ever saw! That is also one of the hardest parts to master in fiddle playing.

  • @i8bugs1 lolz I was thinking the exact same thing

  • YES! This is the way my uncle always played it!

  • this guy has amazing bow technique. look at the way his wrist moves its like jelly

  • it's because he's so damn big. thatviolin looks tiny compared to him.

  • charlie daniels owns this song

  • Nobody plays the orange blossom special as well as Elana James...jus a fact!!!

  • Great sawin Danny - very unique lick substitutions in place of the conventional licks. 5 stars. All acoustic too. Johnny Pal of MangoDaville
