This grew out of an unsold 1973 pilot, "The Furst Family of Washington" (starring Godfrey Cambridge as "Oscar Furst"). It was reworked with Clifton Davis and Theresa Merritt [from the original pilot], and the network bought it for the fall of 1974, It lasted until the end of 1975.
