It makes me so sad that this scene would have made a LOT more sense if ASP had been able to finish her series her way. She still knows what those last four words were supposed to be in the series finale and we will never know them... It's really very sad. This should have been a huge arc for the characters and instead it ended up ruining everything because the writers didn't know where to go with it. :(

@furubadude4 I know! I love the Gilmore girls but those seasons were to much for me. What about Rory and Logan? I liked Rory but when she stated dating Logan she became a diferent person
A few years ago two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said "Get the kids and get out of the house, we'll call the police we don't have a clown statue". The "clown statue" was actually a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this on 10 videos tonight the clown will be in your bed at 3:00am with a chainsaw in his hand. Sorry don't want this to happen to me.
I will always think Lorelai is right here - maybe she wasn't right in sleeping with Chris - but she was right when she was talking to him. It was then or never, and he chose never. He had enough time to get his bearings he obviously wasn't ready and she couldn't wait any longer.
@SnowFloProductions No she didn't have the right to blow up like that. She said nothing to him aside from the one comment about their marriage in the Valentine's Day episode.
She kept everything else inside. Said nothing to Luke and just sat and stewed. Then she completely bails on him and avoids him the entire day, only to reappear and dump all this shit on him and leave him dumbfounded with an ultimatum. He thought everything was fine, because SHE SAID NOTHING about the April situation.
i don't know which one i'm angrier at here...luke first should have let lorelai talk to april, and he should have married lorelai and THEN sorted april, like lor said. but then lorelai should have told him she was upset, and should have known luke would panic when it came to it. and then to go to CHRISTOPHER. ugh... this is so not these two! this scene made me cry...and it really upset me that this is one of the only times they say they love each other :(
@clol159 just save yourself the agony and blame the writers they brought in for the last two seasons. the april storyline was such shit. i never felt a true connection with luke and lorelai once they got together. there was no time for them to settle in as a couple & for the audience to enjoy what they'd been waiting for since episode one. there was always conflict. luke vs jason, luke vs dean, luke vs christopher, luke vs tj, luke & april, lorelai & anna... too frustrating.
@clol159 Exactly my feelings. It's just frustrating that the writers took this path. 7 Seasons of them toying with us, and we never get the payoff of Luke and Lorelei getting married. It's ridiculous.
This is such a sad scene :( Gilmore girls was the best show on tv. The actors all have such conviction, and the storylines are always so clever and thought-provoking. I cried many times in season 6 and 7. Spesh in the last episode at the very end when it's lor and rory in the diner, the way the show began :(
Luke was just getting to know his child I mean Lor should understand that I mean she has an intense bond with her daughter she should have been more understanding and if it was really hurting her that much she should have said something but didn't she let it fester and blew up at Luke and slept with the guy who has always let her and Rory down
i will always wonder what how all of these problems wouldve been resolved if the original creators had finished the series. i feel like they caused so much damage in season 6 that was ment to be fixed in the next season. i hated season 7 it was just so boring. lorelai just became a weak and stupid character. in every season she has had some strength to make her own choices
While I get that Luke was a douche and handled the situation terribly and that was unfair to Lorelei... the fact that Lorelei never said anything about the situation and how she was feeling about it was unfair to Luke. She let it build up and up and then it blows out here.
Then she goes a fucks it up with Christopher. Then goes on blaming Luke for their relationship failing, when she was to blame as well. Only admitting that she did wrong in the damn Hay Bail Maze episode. Shit pisses me off.
i HATED april 2 me she was a pointless character nd it seemed like she was trying 2 hard 2 be rory it wasnt rite. luck is such a jerk in this scene she was absolutely rite totally nd completely rite ugh he is so stressful rite now!!!
So Luke and her don't end up togehter?? Man that wold spoil the whole thing for me cause they are the only reason I watch it. Lorelai is my fav and Luke needs to man up
So Luke and her don't end up togehter?? Man that wold spoil the whole thing for me cause they are the only reason I watch it. Lorelai is my fav and Luke needs to man the fuck up
This episode was so heartbreaking. I remember I couldn't watch most of the seasons after because they weren't together.
In my opinion, don't hate me on this, but I thought April was terrible. I didn't like her coming in. Maybe if Amy was there to develop her character more, I'd like but she wasn't so I don't. Jess is the only kid he should have ties to.
"But I love you, Luke! I love you!" the way she says that breaks my heart and gives me chills. that's exactly how i say it in my head when i think about the guy i love. i love lorelai. way too much.
Lauren is sooo awesome. she just kills me here- and pretty much every scene she's in- it's so ridic she was never nominated for an emmy or anything!.. and as if this wasn't sad enough the song @ the end *sigh*. perfect
i always cry durn this scene i can't believe luke just let her walk away did you no season 7 was the least watched season next to the 1st probably because of the break up people stopped watching thats just sad :(

The reason why Lorelai was not understanding the whole April thing is because she thinks that she has to the center of everybody attention and not care about what everybody is feeling and she only thinks about herself.
As much as I like Lorelai, I agree. These women aren't perfect and that is what makes this show great. Lorelai clearly has flaws, i mean seconds after this scene she runs to another man to sleep with him. Luke has a daughter that he did not know about, he has to make sure that is all set before he moves on with his life. Lorelai just needed to wait, but she did not. I am not blaming all of this on Lorelai, Luke should not have let her walk away this night.
I haven't been keeping up with the show for a little while, but is this the episode right before Emily (Lorelai's mom) tells Lorelai she wants to buy her a house?
the writers ruined that relationship... sorry, but we waited like, foreeeeever to see those two together, we finally did it after 4 long seasons, but it worth it because the flirting between them over those 4 years was amazing to watch....
at season 4 the jelausy of theirs boyfriends/girlsfirend became more intense and the looks in the eyes between them too.
Season 5 finally they get together, they break up , we saw Lorelai desvasted crying for Luke in a way that we never saw before when she break up with her ex so we could tell about her deep feelings.... but that was Ok, was a believable break up.... then they get back together, everything was perfect.... UNTIL APRIL!!
OH MY GOD!! what the hell was thatt!!??? Luke having a daugther!!? that was ridiculus!! It would have been more believable that godzilla make an appearance in Stars Hollow.... and the whole attitude of Luke of hiding it from Lorelai, and then don't let her make a relationship with the kid... pure crap... they ruined the show.....
@hollynat Personally, I'm all for April. The only problem I have is with The last half of Season 6 and All of Season 7, after Amy Sherman-Palladino left. As the original writer of Gilmore Girls, she knew the characters best. She was the one who brought April in, so I'm all for her, if she thought it was best. Whoever took over after her, though.... they've got problems. Lorelai NEVER would have married Chris. I firmly believe that. D:
The whole OMG you spoke to Anna thing would make any sane woman wonder what type of relationship is he hiding with Anna. The situation between her and Rory is different than Luke and April because there was a VALID reason in the former....Luke had no reason to wait so long with April and treating Lorelai like cra* because of his own jealousy and making sure she is a stranger to April is a bad reflection on him.
I know, me too. The writers just epically screwed the fans over with this, because they stretched their breakup over season 7 with the whole stupid Christopher marriage, and then it was too late to fix. Now we'll never see them get married because the writers couldn't just let them get back together earlier in season 7. :(
luke was so stupid for keeping lorelai out of april's life and for not telling her when he found out... i cannot believe that luke would just let lorelai walk away!!!!!
Luke is idiot.........I don't understand it. Lorelai was before, not April!! And Lorelai wait and wait.......oh,manhood.........they never knows that they have a gorgeaus girl, but if they lose, they realize it..........
i agree which is why i kept rooting for christopher because at least he had the balls to tell her he loved her and knew they were meant to be together, on another note i think its funny that in the middle of her yelling she finds the time to slip in some jokes
I think she should have just told him flat out that he wasn't including her enough in his life since April came along. However, he was patient enough to wait until Rory and Lorelai were on speaking terms to set a wedding date so I think Lorelai should be just as accomodating. But yeah he should have been more open and honest about April.
That's how I felt about it, too. It's such a shame and I never forgave AS-P for it, because this was the best show on television until they completely ruined it.
after that episode I really could not stand Lorelei after that. Luke was wrong about the April thing. But you have to look it from Luke point of view. I don't think Lorelei should have put Luke in that postition either
I thought it would be April's fault, but I really think it was Luke.He wouldn't let Lorelai get to know her or anything, and at April's birthday we saw that she bonded with her. After that Anna told Lorelai that she didn't want April to get to know her until she and Luke were married.Luke left Lorelai out too much.she shouldn't have slept with Chris but Luke didn't think about her feelings. That's what I think! I Wish there was a season 8 though to see how things would have ended up between them.
Luke should've let Lorelai get close to April. He handled it the wrong way. That's why she freaked out. But she still didn't want to go to Christopher she just didn't want to be in an empty silent house. He also messed up because he kept putting off the marriage.
Please someone who watched all the show could you tell me what happened in the season 6 and 7? I know about April and put-off wedding but I have all of it in one mess. I desperately need to know what happened!
I'm sorry but the whole Luke insisting Lorelai not have any contact with Ana and April was just weird and stupid and Ana is one screwed up mother and honestly it seems Ana wanted to screw up their relationship sometimes. I mean when Luke gets all huffy abouyt her talking to Ana i just want to shake him. Seriously people do run into each other Luke hello? I mean really....he couldn't stand chris but yet he expects Lorelai to just be in the corner wondering about Ana. Luke = Hypocrite
As much as I hated that Christopher and Lorelai got together, I think that the writers were just trying to answer the question "What would have happened if Lorelai and Christopher just got married?" Even though we all knew from season 1 that this was not a good idea. I mean we all knew that Luke and Lorelai were going to get back together otherwise the show as a whole would have a complete failure. I agree that April Luke angle was not needed. Also Lauren Graham is amazing with these scenes.
I chose not to watch this episode when it first came out because I knew it would be too sad, and I heard my mom from the living room when it was on shout "NO!" and I was like "What?" and she said turn on the tv, and i looked and lorelai was in bed next to Chris, and I was like. "NOOO!"
she shuldnt of went to chris. that screwed up everything. i dont think they shuld of put april in the storyline. cuz throughout the whole show luke wuz always known as well luke. hes never reproduced n all that. he shuld of w/ lorelai. april messed ^ his character n the whole story i think...
I'm sure I wasn't the only one yelling at my tv in hysterics saying " RUN AFTER HER LUKE!" after this scene. If I was then I feel a bit embarrassed. Lol I agree with what Lorelei was saying with "you're gonna have to figure out how April fits into our life not the other way around." I felt horrible for Lorelei because she was obviously hurting and wanted to marry him so bad.I've been looking for this scene for a lot. Thanks!
the whole reason she wanted to get married then and there was because luke kept pushing it back more and more. he said he would marry her but as soon as he found out about april he seemed like he didn't want to and she needed to move forward. i understand what she's saying and i think it needed to happen but i was so upset initially when it did
uhh yeah. and they were dating for like two years and they've been practically best friends for seven years and she was pissed they kept putting it off. you said it best she needed to move forward.
If it wasnt for April they would of gotten married.
Luke should of went.
He is so stupid.
O well they ended up together so im happy but when i saw this scebe i almost cried. espicially when i saw were she went! Stupid Chris! Stupid April!!!!!!!!!
its so sad the part when she says "And you'll get your stuff, and you'll move in."
She in hysterics, and you can tell she wants it so badly.
And also after Lorelai says "Well I'm sorry to hear that" and starts crying, the look in Luke's eyes just makes me want to cry. And at the same time, I'm so angry at him for just letting her cry and watching her walk away.
the show got so boring and slow when april came around. they should've just never got on the show, it took luke and lorelai long enough to get together anyways.
This scene is one of the most sad out of all of Gilmore Girls. I cry when I watch it. And the song fits perfectly, but is so sad. Partings is a really good episode, I laugh and cry when I watch it. So sad though. How Luke let her go.
This scene kills myself completely. The only good thing is Sam Phillips here.

Nope, this is the episode right after that, the last one of season 6.
Hope I helped!

the writers ruined that relationship... sorry, but we waited like, foreeeeever to see those two together, we finally did it after 4 long seasons, but it worth it because the flirting between them over those 4 years was amazing to watch....
hollynat 3 years ago 6
at season 4 the jelausy of theirs boyfriends/girlsfirend became more intense and the looks in the eyes between them too.
Season 5 finally they get together, they break up , we saw Lorelai desvasted crying for Luke in a way that we never saw before when she break up with her ex so we could tell about her deep feelings.... but that was Ok, was a believable break up.... then they get back together, everything was perfect.... UNTIL APRIL!!
hollynat 3 years ago 3
OH MY GOD!! what the hell was thatt!!??? Luke having a daugther!!? that was ridiculus!! It would have been more believable that godzilla make an appearance in Stars Hollow.... and the whole attitude of Luke of hiding it from Lorelai, and then don't let her make a relationship with the kid... pure crap... they ruined the show.....

hollynat 3 years ago 6
@hollynat Personally, I'm all for April. The only problem I have is with The last half of Season 6 and All of Season 7, after Amy Sherman-Palladino left. As the original writer of Gilmore Girls, she knew the characters best. She was the one who brought April in, so I'm all for her, if she thought it was best. Whoever took over after her, though.... they've got problems. Lorelai NEVER would have married Chris. I firmly believe that. D:

The whole OMG you spoke to Anna thing would make any sane woman wonder what type of relationship is he hiding with Anna. The situation between her and Rory is different than Luke and April because there was a VALID reason in the former....Luke had no reason to wait so long with April and treating Lorelai like cra* because of his own jealousy and making sure she is a stranger to April is a bad reflection on him.

two and a half years later and this scene still kills me.
they were so perfect..*sigh*
LukeLovesLorelai07 3 years ago 4
I know, me too. The writers just epically screwed the fans over with this, because they stretched their breakup over season 7 with the whole stupid Christopher marriage, and then it was too late to fix. Now we'll never see them get married because the writers couldn't just let them get back together earlier in season 7. :(

nicole3694 3 years ago 2
i agree which is why i kept rooting for christopher because at least he had the balls to tell her he loved her and knew they were meant to be together, on another note i think its funny that in the middle of her yelling she finds the time to slip in some jokes
KingVegeta2010 3 years ago 6
I think she should have just told him flat out that he wasn't including her enough in his life since April came along. However, he was patient enough to wait until Rory and Lorelai were on speaking terms to set a wedding date so I think Lorelai should be just as accomodating. But yeah he should have been more open and honest about April.
impasse0124 3 years ago 5
I never forgave Amy Pallidino for the direction she took the show when she left.
I always thought this episode and Lorelai's resulting actions were Amy's big screw you to the network (and kinda to her fans too).
highflyer68 3 years ago 7
That's how I felt about it, too. It's such a shame and I never forgave AS-P for it, because this was the best show on television until they completely ruined it.
SoMuchBetter44 2 years ago
Totally selfish on her part IMO. We as fans invested a lot into this show and this whole debacle was no way to say thanks.
Luke was completely out of character in season six...he goes from practically being able to walk on water to being a real jerk.

after that episode I really could not stand Lorelei after that. Luke was wrong about the April thing. But you have to look it from Luke point of view. I don't think Lorelei should have put Luke in that postition either
sweetheart2109 3 years ago

Jbrofreak 3 years ago 5
That is true. He shouldn't have done that. I understand time alone but she should still have been able to see April.

Duszka 3 years ago 3
I completely agree, Luke was wrong about that. He was the one that said they have to tell each other everything! He was wrong
nippynoodles26 3 years ago 5
Amen!
lobogirl 2 years ago 2

"NOOO!"

Thanks!

what is so important to her about being married to him? i dont see a point in marrying someone if your thoughts are so incompatible...
NiNm62 3 years ago
the whole reason she wanted to get married then and there was because luke kept pushing it back more and more. he said he would marry her but as soon as he found out about april he seemed like he didn't want to and she needed to move forward. i understand what she's saying and i think it needed to happen but i was so upset initially when it did

its so sad the part when she says "And you'll get your stuff, and you'll move in."
She in hysterics, and you can tell she wants it so badly.
And also after Lorelai says "Well I'm sorry to hear that" and starts crying, the look in Luke's eyes just makes me want to cry. And at the same time, I'm so angry at him for just letting her cry and watching her walk away.
