By itself it's quite good and gives a feeling of nostalgia for the days of the NES. But it lacks the epicness and intensity of the original, which is needed for a final dungeon.

It's a totally solid song, it's just that it emits a completely different mood compared to the original. The original song had a much more dire feeling, literally makes you run like hell. This version has more of a the end is coming feel and is just a little too laid back.

Great song though, but I would have to agree with others and prefer the original.

It's not actually that bad I think. The main problem with this track (and Last Battle) is that towards the end of the tune, it becomes all upbeat and cheery, which doesn't fit at all with the context of the song (i.e. hell).

I don't know why so many people diss the Cave Story Wii soundtrack so much. Most of the songs are good takes on the originals, and still fit in game. This one in particular is very good.

The soundtrack is fair. It's their technical implementation that's total shit.

Thank goodness they're _actually talking about an update now_, along with a DSi port (go search tinycartridge•com for the article).

I have to say, I much prefer the original. And it seems like they've got quite a few notes in this wrong. I really don't much like this version... oh well, original soundtrack is always an option! :)

While I do like both versions of this track, I seem to like this version's pace better than the original one, since it fits my own "rush-free" gameplay pace. (Yeah, I admit that I'm too casual a gamer to speedrun these kinds of things, though I do think that the original's pace was more for speedrunning.)
