As far as I know, it was Gregory Peck ( An american actor, who happened to be one of the judges ) voted for Ms. USA which was the reason why Ms. USA edged out Ms Philippines. It was his sole vote that robbed Ms. Philippines the title.

I watched this pageant in it's live telecast from London on pageant night. As far as I know, Marjorie edged out Vangie by a single vote. When Marjorie was dethroned, the crown was offered to Vangie, who turned it down because she thought she should have won that night. In her own words "the lollipop was mine in the first place".

Wiz na magwin ang Pinas sa Miss world. Ang salarin si Peachy Veneracion. She (together with some candidates) was asked to withdraw from the pageant bilang pagprotesta sa appartheid churva. 2 kc pinadala ng S. Africa for MW that year 1 puti at 1 itim, A clear sign of racial discrimination. Dinamdam ng lola ang pagwiwithdraw nya kaya sumumpa sya ng "wlang pilipina ang mananalo ng Miss World kailanman." hence kahit anong gawin natin laging kuhaan ang betchina ng Filipenz sa MW.

Hindi, Ms. Philippines was asked to take the crown for Miss World 1973 but Evangeline saw it fit not to accept it kasi daw accordingly "Miss Philippines was really the winner that night". We could have had a miss world winner. Parang yung nangyari kay Ruffa. Apparently because of racial discrimination. But its true, in 1973 tayo ang nanalo. Kahit magresearch pa kayo on why Evangeline Pascual rejected to take over as Miss World 1973.

I never forget 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 Miss World! We did great those times and yet our media didn't even bother to take credits on them! In this decade we didi better in Miss World than in Miss Universe so I don't think Julia Morley is againts Filipinos. Women like her have etiqutte and class she wouldn't resort into that.
