Wow, haven't heard Wynton play that great in a while. Sounds like he got his chops back. Still hate that Monette though. Sounded so much better on his bach 72.
You must don't listen to Wynton very much. I also see you're one that pays too much attention to equipment. Jazz isn't about what brand of instrument you use, but feeling.
Just great music from the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra which to me is up there with the great Jazz orchestras like Count Basie,Duke Ellington,Fletcher Henderson,Woody Herman and the Thad Jones Mel Lewis big band. Great blend with fantastic piano giant Ahmad Jamal. Great solo by Wynton at the start and also Ted Nash and Marcus Printup a super trumpet artist with this orchestra. Of course 5 stars!
Some great playing here! Wynton never fails to impress with how easy he navigates multiple octaves with his rock-steady embouchure. You could also see how the guys were really feeling Ted's methodical solo and later dipped into the gut bucket for some blues. Marcus Printup...WOW! Killing solo!!!
Ahh ,
Genius use of "whole tones"

I also like Ted's "Happy Birthday" quote during the bridge of his 2nd chorus.
