It is catchy in the same way as is the Horst Wessel Lied or Internationale. When you don't understand what the words mean then the tune sounds pretty cool, but you would never dream of using it for your own purposes. That said, I am sure someone in the Falklands could make make up one with English words, which didn't whine or moan, but rather sing about the virtues of the Falkland Islands.
@Myles0Harcourt the lyrics are very beautiful. you should search the translation. And you can't compair this with the horst wessel, this is 100 times better ;) lol both countries should use this anthem and britain can sing their english version without changing the meaning.
@florhh14 Whilst it is a matter of musical taste which one sounds better, I think the Falkland Islands can stick with their own proud anthem for now. After all aliens have not discovered us yet, so the Islands cannot be hiding under "alien banners".
@heatflash888 Why you think your government doesn't even want to talk with Argentina about Malvinas? because they know well they've no arguments to say Malvinas belongs to UK, only say that islanders want to be British. The Argentine population that lived in Malvinas in 1883 (until they were expeled by British Monarchy) also wanted to be Argentine but that doesn't care, imperialism and piracy are good when they're done for you or your friends in Europe or North America, right?
@Myles0Harcourt The only "brainwashed" is the British people. If someone asks one of you why Malvinas belongs to UK you say that Britain discovered them in 1592 and they're yours since then. But, what says a Spanish? he will tell you that Malvinas were discovered by Fernando de Magallanes in 1520, but FRENCHS took them first, then British took them (in 1765) and in 1774 Malvinas became Spanish because of the Traty of Masserano, and they were Spanish until Argentine independence.
Everyone will have various claims to the Falkland Islands over who discovered what first. Various people established various settlements on them at various times. But all the things you mention happened before Argentina existed. Furthermore UN Charter Article 1.2 is not brainwashing.
@Myles0Harcourt Frenchs historians also say France took Malvinas before Spain but that in 1770 they delivered the islands to them recognizing the Spanish sovereignty. The Spanish and the French stories match. Coming back to Spain, when occurred the wars of independence in South America and Argentina became free, by the "uti possedettis (if you don't know what it is search about it)" Argentina keept Malvinas and colonized them in 1820, but British took the islands by force in 1833
Considering some of the BS which has come out from your politicians recently, I can hardly call Argentina a reliable source. Secondly, Britainw as iself expelled by force from the Islands in 1770. Then we reached an arrangement in which Spain received some and we received some. In 1776 we left due to the pressure of the American War of Independence, but we never gave up our claim and we left a plaque to that effect when we left in 1776. We then took the islands back in 1833.
@Myles0Harcourt The only unsustainable story here is the British one. Spanish, Frenchs and Argentines can't be lying. Sadly, you guys are the only ones who don't have any good argument to say Malvinas belongs to your country, the only thing your Queen can say in her favor is "our islands, arrrrr!".That's why Britain doesn't want even talk with the Argentine government about this issue, cuz your government knows they can't gain the islands with arguments, only stealing them.
Firstly it is not the Queen’s decision; it is that of Her Majesty’s Government. Secondly our argument is perfectly clear and simply. The Falklands will remain British until the Islanders who have lived there for many generations, including several since before 1833 choose otherwise. We would hand them over tomorrow if they wanted it. If you want the Falklands, first you must win over their people. (ie no economic blockades etc). That is sound and enshrined in the UN Charter.
@Myles0Harcourt And I can not pass, the fact that you bother to answer my comments in Spanish. Thank you very much for that! I'm not good with English. Greetings!
Were the "Falklanders" oppressed like Africans that were victims of the illegal aggression of Britain and Europe?
Or indeed, like the native people of South America, victims of the "illegal aggression" of Spain.
And yes, they were oppressed in such a manner. Look at the treatment of the citizens of Goose Green. Look at the arbitrary arrests and house searched. A number of people were beaten up after listening surreptitiously to the BBC. Sounds like the Nazi occupation of Europe.
@ElFrikipedista LOL A little bitter are we?Bitching? Lost any Illegal wars lately?
Defence of the Falkland Islands, has nothing whatsoever to do with neocolonialism or any nonsense like that. Its quiet determination to stand by the Falkland Islanders & their rights that you would tread upon.
The rights of British citizens who look to us - their fellow citizens - to protect them.
Now this must make me seem arrogant &conseated.
And I'm sorry, but the fact is I'm British...And well your..NOT! ;)
@fairhillnorrie None of the Brits want NI, Its the Prods in NI who want to be part of the UK ! The Brits are just waiting for the day when the north is a Catholic majority then we can wash our hands of the expensive thorn in our sides. Walk into any English pub & ask the locals if they want to hold on to NI, I guarantee the vast majority will say- Have it ! The only difference is most will use strong guttural Anglo-Saxon in their feelings about the problem Stop listening to the mainstream media
I have been to spain in the continent of north africa, and to mexico in the continent of west africa, and I can tell you that the spanicos are well on the way to catching up with the rest of the world.
When the British took control of the Falkland Islands no body lived there and Argentina did not even exist. Maybe Argentinians should all go to live in Spain which was the country that slaughtered the tribes living in the land of silver and then decided it was Spanish territory. You cant have 1 principle for one country & another for a second country. If the population wanted to be Argentinian then the UK would let them have it, but they want to be British all 100%.
@ALBIONTYKE Britain " took control", that is stole those Argentine islands in 1833 when Argentina did exist. The islands were inhabited by Argentinians who were illegaly expelled. Before Argentina existed, the islands were Spanish, they have never been british and never will.
btw no one slaughtered any tribes living here, get your history right mate
@Arminevh I have my history right. Tribes were slaughtered in the Pampas & Patagonia the city of Tasil was destroyed by Spanish. 1520 Falklands sighted by Britain - 1690 British landed on uninhabited Falklands & claimed it - 1770 the British left a plaque, French then British settled on the Falklands & lived together until the Spanish attacked them & illegaly forced the settlers off the island & claimed it for themselves under River Plate Administration
@ALBIONTYKE Clearly you dont, the first time you lot saw those islands was in 1592 by John Davis, that is 70 years after they were shown in Spanish maps. So they were Spanish by discovery etc.
The only tribe slaughtered here was the "Tehuelches" by another tribe (that had come from Chile) called "Mapuches". The so called "conquest of the desert was far from a slaughter and was made after the aborigins attacked and kidnapped the people established in unhabited lands
@Arminevh cont2/ 1831 the Americans attacked the islands NOT the British & forced the settlers off the island, even though it was British but then America was at war with Britain - 1833 Britain reasserted their legal control of the islands and allowed all the Argentinians to stay they absolutely did not throw them off the islands. Today 100% of the islanders who have lived there continually for 180 years want to be British not Argentinian . This is a democratic & legal right.
@ALBIONTYKE It is an old trick to place people in someone else's lands and then claim they vote for you old chap, the isles have never belonged to a country 8000 miles so despite having rights to leave there, the islanders have no right to steal those Argentine islands from the hands of its right owner.
@Arminevh An old trick ? The Spanish flooded Hipaniola, then Spanish colonials threw the British & French from the islands first, as I stated earlier.
@Arminevh The Spanish tried to invade my country and failed. They joined up with the French & tried to finish us off at Trafalgar & failed. The colonial descendants who became Argentinian tried the same trick again in 1982 & failed. You should learn your lessons
@ALBIONTYKE YOUR country, my poor fellow, tried to invade Buenos Aires twice and hammered both times, YOUR country tried to invade Argentina in 1845 alongside with France, Netherlands etc and got hammered again, the only thing you burglars managed to seize are those tiny frozen rocks and just because of our internal problems at that time. We didnt fail in 1982, we just stopped the bloodbath that lunatic old woman wanted to save her wrinkled bottom.
@fgth1984 and what language do you speak in argentina? is it not spanish? spain did exactly the same thing as britain, if not worse because of the way they treated the natives. at least britain had a law against killing peaceful natives.
Are you trying to say that by not killing 'peaceful natives' that britain was in some form upright and just? You belong to a murderous bloodythirsty greedy and sadistic people. BY suggesting that britain treated natives well because they didn't kill the 'peaceful' ones, just goes to show the mindset of a barbaric regieme. God is always on the side of the oppressed and satan is your master
@32eire32jim like i said, the spanish were much worse than the british when dealing with natives. you have to put it into context of the times, and colonization was what was happening at that time, and i must add that it was not the british who were the first to colonize nations. it was the spanish.
@NumberDne What are you on about? The english were just as bad to the Irish, and the english were trying to colonise Ireland long before the Americas were even discovered. But the wheel always turns and britain is now in tatters, in 50 years time the english will be a minority in their own land. Native white britons will be second class citizens as ethnic minority's have now colonised british soil
@NumberDne mmm DEVEREIAS LEER UN POCO MAS DE HISTORIA INGLATERRA Y OTRO PAIS CREO QUE FRANCIA FIRMARON UN TRATADO A ESPAÑA CUANDO EMPEZARON A LLEGAR MAS INGLESES A LAS ISLAS, COMO ERAN DE ESPAÑA, LOS INGLESES LO TUVIERON QUE RECONOCER, Y ASI QUEDO. UNA VEZ QUE NOS INDEPENDIZAMOS, HEREDAMOS LAS ISLAS, Y ESE TRATADO FIRMADO POR LOS PIRATAS ES EL QUE NOS AMPARA, PERO ES QU LOS DIPUTADOS PIRATAS NO QUIEREN HABLAR, ¿POR QUE SERA?
@fgth1984 Stop using English if you hate us so much. there are bad and good people in every country. you cant just say britain should fuck of. So why dont you say where you are from in your profile?

Hahahahahaha, I give up. Are you David Icke in disguise? Yeah it's true, Oliver Cromwell never died and is secretly a reptilian planning another Irish massacre.
Seriously, you've probably never even been to Britain. I bet blacks and asians in your country get much more shit thrown at them. I have plenty of friends who come from ethnic minority backgrounds, probably because I'm intelligent enough to go to a reputable British university and leave all the conspiracy bullshit to spackers like you

We should stay in our country? Funny how Britain is a hub of international education and business then, as many flock to it from all parts of the globe. We must be doing something right, as our universities aren't fraught with Catholic/Protestant bigotry and infighting. Digusting, to be honest.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And what colonial rule is there any more? Why don't you go bomb Brussels instead? Northern Ireland is a (equal) part of the United Kingdom, and is staying that way. You've been manipulated by your fickle parents probably, to illegitimately hate countries. Britain doesn't have a particular 'gene pool' - a lot of us have Celtic blood. Romans, French, Anglo-Saxon. Actually it was the French who occupied us then took over your lot - so you can always bomb Paris
The current habitants of the islands are not originally native. In 1833 a group of British usurped the island and drove the Argentine people. Then the self-determination for the islanders is illegal. As an islander, you should defend the rights of those who were expelled in 1833.
"never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy"........ Sir Winston Churchill
This is our posture... never give in... Argentina never give in!!!
I am from the Republic of Kiribati, a country in the Pacific ocean and I strongly support the United Kingdom in the Falklands issue because as an islander I am (of Kiribati) I feel the disrespect of the Argentine people toward the native islanders of the Falkland Islands, you do not respect their will. If they want to remain as UK part, you should respect that as those are their native lands. From the Republic of Kiribati, a former British colony until our independence in 1979.
Irish republicans such as yourself are terrorists. Funny how one of the countries you so oppose, the US, gives a lot of public support to - wait, you guessed it - republicans such as yourself, because they have IRISH roots. So your people, just as much as the British, Germans, Dutch, Europeans etc contributed to the downfall of the Native Americans in the US.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you're a model of hypocrisy. You say you support Iraq, but how many kurds were ethnically cleansed by Saddam Hussein? How many women have been beaten, prevented from education etc. under sharia law in Afghanistan? I imagine you wouldn't like your mothers and sisters to go through this?
So you're directly blaming me as a part of the British invasion of India, because I'm British - lol. She's British too btw, clearly you have racial issues yourself. Last millennium eh - ever hear of the Muslim invasion of the Indian subcontinent, 10th and 12th century - forcibly converted Hindus to Muslims? Or is it one rule for the British, another rule for the others?
It's no surprise to find that you're Irish btw, incredibly racist against the British. You're independent, stop your whining
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You are a hateful, brain washed nut job yourself. One look at your profile page says to me you're some goon who lives in his mother's basement, concocting up conspiracies to give his pathetic life purpose. How you can blame Great Britain for events that happened 200, 300 years ago (when no one in the modern day was alive, you see) is preposterous. It was the British who were one of the first to stop slavery. Most British are racists? My girlfriend has Indian parents. You're an absolute cunt.

islas malvinas siempre argentinas...vamos hermanos argentinos!!! i fuck england, their children, their mother and i wish for them to dead from cancer!!!! ingleses piratas...muerte!!!
What an ignorant remark! This has nothing to do with England or the English. It is a matter of the people of the Falkland Islands (who now increasingly see themselves as a nation in their own right) being allowed to determine their own future.
Who do you mean by "it's rightful people"? The people of the Falklands want to remain under British sovereignty. It was the Fascist Argentine junta that stole it from "their rightful people" in 1982
Free Ireland from the Fenians, an alien ideology derived from the Jacobins of the French Revolution. Thank god there are 14 million people of Irish ethnicity in Britain who have a sovereign claim to Ireland. If we get bored we will come and take our ancestral land back from the reds. Too bad most internet Fenians are actually think yankees from Boston who couldn't even tell you where Europe is on the map.
Counter you got it so right there. The amount of people calling for Irish independance etc that are actually American is astounding. It's almost sad, like their own American culture hasn't given enough to them so they leech off another. Not surprising really though, there is no American culture.
the falkland islanders were offered independence, including Argentinian citizenship, but they didnt want it. They are not British, and have lived there for generations. Most of them have probably never even seen the UK. They are no more British than the Australians or the Americans; they are no more British than the Argentinians are Spanish. And kicking the Islanders off the Islands is akin to kicking any other past colonies out of their homelands.
australians and american were british colonists so they are actually very much ''british'' i understand the falklanders were not colonists though they are people that have always lived there
I was told by an ex British army sergeant the Falkland Islanders were regarded as a bit -you know -been on the island a bit to long -nudge nudge, by the British Army in 1982-they had various nick names for them-not sure if this is true though
the british tell jokes about people who live on the same landmass, less than 500 miles away. London thinks only london exists. The south thinks the north is another country. I suppose its part of that.
Colonies have no rights to irredentist claims. Argentina is a colony in rebellion against their legitimate authority of the Spanish Empire and the King of Spain.
Nobody voted Galtieri. Really these islands are Argentine, which they did was the english men to invade them. In end, Margaret Tatcher is not a person wanted by her actions and in any country there is a spot: in Germany Hittler, in Italy Mussolini, in England Tatcher, etc
Hittler, Mussolini were agressors. Thatcher was a defender. You have to see that the UK could never allow a forign power to militarily boot us out of terriory. Taking the action Galtieri did turned an unimportant island into something highly significant. Thatcher would have been negligent and weak to have not responded to the agrentine action. If she had not responded, it would have also been the end of her politican career. She was forced to take that action.
The Malvinas were French until he ceded sovereignty to Spain. In 1816 these islands were inherited from Spain to Argentina, until in 1833 invading for UK. We want peace but we can not allow injustice and that part of our land is invaded by England. We will continue to claim for them. Malvinas are Argentinas
Mr zzazier, this is the only official anthem that the Malvinas have, may be you think that the true anthem is "Song of the Falklands", but that is just a song, not official.
So this is the only anthem that the Malvinas have, so is the official...

VAMOS MALVINAS !!!!
there is nothing worng with that the party that gains the most elected seats gains majority controll usaly its leader is the one we vote for but its a party system the monarch is there to prevent a bad person from becoming priminister without being voted in, we are run by a party and its manifesto and that is what is represented in the commons and the councils
what are you saying the prime minister was not elected by parliment or the lords he was the man the ruleing party that we voted for we all knew he was going to be the next PM its not a great problem we dont vote for the leader but by majority party who has the most seats and the queen has the right to refuse him the job she is the head of state and they are her ministers and if she new that the party was going against the people she would step in
there is a candidate race within the party itself but the commons or the public have no say wich i agree is wrong but we vote for the party and its leader at the time but our head of state is the monarch so we vote party wise, parliment is the house of discusion and has no real say in who the oposition has as leader if it is a bad and wrong choice it is up to the queen to remove him or her
your people doesnt actually vote your PM but vote "the candidate of the party" that the party delegates has elected for them, so you explained to me, isnt it?
they put forward the most popular and compitent before the election and we vote on that basis it is very rare and has hardly ever happend that a PM has changed without an election, so the partys members and supporters choose the heads of the party they have to be an elected MP and we decide at the elections who we want

After a brief and illegal piratre settlement Argentina was kicked out by the USA, and then by the UK.
Argentina, of course being the country populated by native South Americans, and not at all by the colonial Spaniards.
Argentina may accuse Britain of being a colonial power. Argentina, however is a colony.

Pucarathrashmetal 3 months ago
@Pucarathrashmetal

And I'm sorry, but the fact is I'm British...And well your..NOT! ;)

Walk into any English pub & ask the locals if they want to hold on to NI, I guarantee the vast majority will say- Have it !
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
@ALBIONTYKE Britain " took control", that is stole those Argentine islands in 1833 when Argentina did exist. The islands were inhabited by Argentinians who were illegaly expelled. Before Argentina existed, the islands were Spanish, they have never been british and never will.
btw no one slaughtered any tribes living here, get your history right mate
Arminevh 1 year ago
@Arminevh I have my history right. Tribes were slaughtered in the Pampas & Patagonia the city of Tasil was destroyed by Spanish. 1520 Falklands sighted by Britain - 1690 British landed on uninhabited Falklands & claimed it - 1770 the British left a plaque, French then British settled on the Falklands & lived together until the Spanish attacked them & illegaly forced the settlers off the island & claimed it for themselves under River Plate Administration
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
@ALBIONTYKE Clearly you dont, the first time you lot saw those islands was in 1592 by John Davis, that is 70 years after they were shown in Spanish maps. So they were Spanish by discovery etc.
The only tribe slaughtered here was the "Tehuelches" by another tribe (that had come from Chile) called "Mapuches". The so called "conquest of the desert was far from a slaughter and was made after the aborigins attacked and kidnapped the people established in unhabited lands
Arminevh 1 year ago
@Arminevh cont2/ 1831 the Americans attacked the islands NOT the British & forced the settlers off the island, even though it was British but then America was at war with Britain - 1833 Britain reasserted their legal control of the islands and allowed all the Argentinians to stay they absolutely did not throw them off the islands. Today 100% of the islanders who have lived there continually for 180 years want to be British not Argentinian . This is a democratic & legal right.
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
@ALBIONTYKE It is an old trick to place people in someone else's lands and then claim they vote for you old chap, the isles have never belonged to a country 8000 miles so despite having rights to leave there, the islanders have no right to steal those Argentine islands from the hands of its right owner.
Arminevh 1 year ago
@Arminevh An old trick ? The Spanish flooded Hipaniola, then Spanish colonials threw the British & French from the islands first, as I stated earlier.
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
@Arminevh The Spanish tried to invade my country and failed. They joined up with the French & tried to finish us off at Trafalgar & failed. The colonial descendants who became Argentinian tried the same trick again in 1982 & failed. You should learn your lessons
ALBIONTYKE 1 year ago
@ALBIONTYKE YOUR country, my poor fellow, tried to invade Buenos Aires twice and hammered both times, YOUR country tried to invade Argentina in 1845 alongside with France, Netherlands etc and got hammered again, the only thing you burglars managed to seize are those tiny frozen rocks and just because of our internal problems at that time. We didnt fail in 1982, we just stopped the bloodbath that lunatic old woman wanted to save her wrinkled bottom.

32eire32jim 1 year ago 2
@32eire32jim like i said, the spanish were much worse than the british when dealing with natives. you have to put it into context of the times, and colonization was what was happening at that time, and i must add that it was not the british who were the first to colonize nations. it was the spanish.
NumberDne 1 year ago
@NumberDne What are you on about? The english were just as bad to the Irish, and the english were trying to colonise Ireland long before the Americas were even discovered. But the wheel always turns and britain is now in tatters, in 50 years time the english will be a minority in their own land. Native white britons will be second class citizens as ethnic minority's have now colonised british soil

Thank god there are 14 million people of Irish ethnicity in Britain who have a sovereign claim to Ireland. If we get bored we will come and take our ancestral land back from the reds. Too bad most internet Fenians are actually think yankees from Boston who couldn't even tell you where Europe is on the map.

the falkland islanders were offered independence, including Argentinian citizenship, but they didnt want it. They are not British, and have lived there for generations. Most of them have probably never even seen the UK. They are no more British than the Australians or the Americans; they are no more British than the Argentinians are Spanish. And kicking the Islanders off the Islands is akin to kicking any other past colonies out of their homelands.

Nobody voted Galtieri. Really these islands are Argentine, which they did was the english men to invade them. In end, Margaret Tatcher is not a person wanted by her actions and in any country there is a spot: in Germany Hittler, in Italy Mussolini, in England Tatcher, etc
brigad09 3 years ago
Hittler, Mussolini were agressors. Thatcher was a defender. You have to see that the UK could never allow a forign power to militarily boot us out of terriory. Taking the action Galtieri did turned an unimportant island into something highly significant. Thatcher would have been negligent and weak to have not responded to the agrentine action. If she had not responded, it would have also been the end of her politican career. She was forced to take that action.

To be able to elect your leader directly is preferable, in my opinion.
Are you sure the PM hasnt to be elected or nominated in the Parliament after the election?

there is a candidate race within the party itself but the commons or the public have no say wich i agree is wrong but we vote for the party and its leader at the time but our head of state is the monarch so we vote party wise, parliment is the house of discusion and has no real say in who the oposition has as leader if it is a bad and wrong choice it is up to the queen to remove him or her

For a Latin American observer it is interesting that both US and UK have so much indirect election systems.

indirect hardly, they are in the uk very efficient and right for our constitutional system and have worked very well for hundereds of years
rulebritannia1 3 years ago
but it is indirect! it is was you just explained!
your people doesnt actually vote your PM but vote "the candidate of the party" that the party delegates has elected for them, so you explained to me, isnt it?

they put forward the most popular and compitent before the election and we vote on that basis it is very rare and has hardly ever happend that a PM has changed without an election, so the partys members and supporters choose the heads of the party they have to be an elected MP and we decide at the elections who we want
