  • massive acdc influence

  • Never noticed before, but.....

Paul Quinn kinda looks like Tom Hanks doing an Angus Young impersonation,,, lol

  • @clbaumer Yeah lol...Tom Hanks on Guitar;-)

  • So young. So good. Man that was agreat time to be alive and be a rock fan. Absolutley rocked Saxon all the time. They had such loud shows... Still do I suppose.

  • Probably their best song.

  • Have very fond memories of this being shown on The Old Gray Whistle Test about 1980, those were the days... ;o)

  • This was the best age of Saxon IMO.

  • It's undeniable that Saxon's absolute classic records are between the first one and Denim and Leather, but I have to disagree that the qualiity faded in subsequent records. Take "Power and the glory" one of the most perfect heavy metal albums in history, for the song "The eagle has landed" only it deserves to be right up there with "Sabotage" ,"Stained Class", "Killers" etc. etc.

Anyway this video shows how real Heavy Metal is played!

  • great solo and paul just fucking rips it on his solo!!the best!!!

  • Blues with balls !!! Super band, a bit underrated...

  • saxon have so many fantastic songs in their back catalogue...one of the best british metal bands ever!!

  • Bluesy sound!!! Stallions of the highway!!

  • SUPER Cooles Video aus den BESTEN Jahren...!!

  • Saxon did not break through because of : weak managment, wrong record company, not commercial enough, just plain heavy metal, no compromises ! that's why I'll always love Saxon

  • Saxon has always been, in my view, an awesome band, though not given as much attention as they deserved. A shame because they have mindblowing songs. Probably , had Biff Byford been sexy the band would have become more popular and more people would have paid more attention to them. To me that is trivial, to say the least because I listen to the music exclusively, but not everybody takes my view when it comes to choosing a band to become fan of or to listen to

  • When these bands came to most people's attention - it was Maiden and Leppard that were ahead - then Saxon came from behind and overtook them - as far as classic singles were concerned - then the other two became mega for some reason - but the best band of all three were Saxon.

  • That is Pete Gill, best Saxon drummer ever, who also did a great jobin Motorhead. BTW, this is just a video for the studio recording.

  • Such a great song! What Saxon did on 'Wheel Of Steel', 'Strong Arm of the Law', and 'Denim & Leather' was phenomenal. After that the quality and consistency began to lessen until they bounced back with 'Solid Ball of Rock' in 1990.

  • Heavy Hard Blues!

  • Fuck me , what a great performance. You can understand why these guys were arguably the biggest rock band in the world !

  • when was that?

  • 1980

  • Friday Night I feel alright I get into my leathers and I feel alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stallions of the Highway

  • My God, Biff has a powerful voice...

  • can anyone see the foley catheter coming out of the bass player's fly?

  • the bass player of saxon was like 59 years old back then...he is now 92

  • Dobby isn't that old, he just looks like it. He was a bad mutha with Saxon back in his days with the real band. Anybody know the real reason he left?????

  • He left becaus a problem with his wife...

  • bring back the hungry years...this is the Saxon line up that i love...!!!

  • ***Pete FUCKIN' Gill***

  • ~~~~AMAZING TALENTED GUY~~~~

  • graham oliver pete gill steve dawson - should do some more rocking with ted pullit - show the world how its done

  • Traditional Metal at its best

  • what about Painkiller?

  • what about it? simple: greatest Priest album ever! 'nough said!

  • uh, ever hear Stained Class or Killing Machine?

  • yeah... do you? I think Painkiller is better... Ever heard of "Turbo", "Screaming for Vengences" or "Defenders of the Faith"?Or "British (fucking) Steel"?

  • I FUCKIN WORSHIP THIS SONG!

  • Saxon carajoooooo

  • I am loving those spandex strides biff has squeezed into.

  • i love it

    i love it

    i love it

  • I will NEVER get tired of listening to Saxon! Will they ever tour the US again? C'mon guys give a metalhead a chance. This song is a pure slice of metal the way it should be!

  • what a load of bollocks you talk ukredbear, the real saxon , will always rule over oliver/dawson, saxon are huge in europe an will be in uk again soon, saxon = one of the greatest bands of all time. they are on tour in uk in november2008, new ep out same time, new album out in january 2009.

  • Such a prophetic ironic lyric with events in their later history :(

  • <3<3<3

  • I remember seeing this on the whistle test, back in 1980 just before I went to see them on the strong arm tour. They were my hero's back then, great memories thanks for posting this

  • They were my heroes then, too...and still are!

  • great vid classic saxon.

  • still the best rock n roll band ever

  • someday i read an article which was against the 10th visit of saxon, characterized them out of time, so what?

  • Excellent song, one of Saxon's best, IMO. Thanks for posting this. Does anyone have the full video? This one ends just short of the full run.

  • or can anyone suggest what Saxon DVD this might be on?

  • i saw these guys twice once with detroit's corrupt and again with seduce.

  • and Sonny Bono on bass. LOL

  • in the 2:22 minute is angus young in the guitar xD

  • the guitarrist with a white flying v is not iommi, he is graham oliver:D

  • This is also my favourite Saxon tune. Heavy Rock firing beautifully on 12 cylinders. I remember this video being shown many times on ITV sometime in 1980 replacing the TV commercials. I think at the time there was some dispute in the TV commercial department, so they played music videos/films instead. For me, this song is a guitar orgasm with Biff doing wonderful vocals. I used to dream about being in this Rock n Roll Dreamland video.

  • Excellent! My favorite Saxon tune

  • freakin' groove metal... love it.

  • By Eck..Bloody georgeous. The true Saxon Line-up

Should be introduced by Sir Geoffrey Boycott.."Nowz that is Heavy Metal..not my particular thing .. a bit like being hit by a Jeff Thomson Bumpa!!"

  • out of Bernard Edwards league?

What's this I hear about you stalking Nico Haupt and the No Planers Truth Movement?

He and Paula are paid by COINTELPRO and are waaaay out of your league, I wouldn't take on a pair of crack agents like that, Eddie pretzel

  • how does he flip the guitar over like that?

  • the year was 1980 , and its the mighty paul quinn playing the strat, he's a brilliant guitarist, cant wait to see them on the next tour hopefully in 2008.

  • What year was this and who is the guitarist playing the Strat? He's excellent!

  • The guitarists were Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver...an excellent combination..!!

  • SAXON RULES

  • saw this on the Old Grey Whistle Test about 25 years ago....magic!!!!!!!!

  • Great! Great song, great band!

  • Finally! Thanks for posting this! I been wanting to see this vid for a while now. Saxon! Saxon! Saxon!
