  • am so loving the mk1 renault 5 at 0.28, my first car much loved and missed, so rare today :( great song brings back great memories x

  • Dear Young Elvis Costello: Please stop being so damned visually appealing. It is very distracting.

  • I love "Get Happy's" Motown sound

  • did you know his dad sang the R WHITE LEMONADE SONG on tv ad

  • Jeez Im 50 years old and I have never seen this at all !!! absolutley fabuloso !!

  • Man, these guys dance as poorly as Van Halen, but they do have the uneven stone paving as an excuse.

    Great song.

  • Check out Bruce at 1:25...you can feel the contempt from here

  • 11 people have fallen down and can't get up

  • I wonder who the startled family at 0:28 were?

  • roy west

  • Used to boogie to this classic with my high school friends!

I nearly fell down and fainted when I saw him in concert a few

years later - damn if I could stand up the second he hit the stage.

  • these were the late night videos when i was a kid before MTV. i am 45

  • Great version! Original by Sam and Dave was much slower.

  • I havee loved this song since I was 16 I'm (ahem) now it's still wonderful.

  • lol they look drunk

  • @bradbradbradbrad It's because they were.

  • @johnathan3gameking

    You're wrong.

  • @alibombalie1997 You've just got good taste mate!!!

  • this is so silly - I love it!

  • his glasses are groovy

  • you guys do really know that the song is called i cant stand up FROM falling down, not for lol

  • @johnathan3gameking no it's not

  • @dcurzake yea...... it is

  • how do you figure?

  • @dcurzake i cant stand up FOR falling down doesnt make since. he singing about getting hurt, and he is saying he keeps falling down, therefore he cant seem to stand up FROM falling down, like getting hurt

  • @johnathan3gameking It's a pun. The proper phrase would be "I can't stand FOR falling down" but it's altered a bit to be "I can't stand UP for falling DOWN." Clever wordplay, Elvis C was quite fond of it.

  • i love this song have not heard it in many years thanks for posting ot

  • I wish he would marry me

  • @cantsaycindy Be careful what you wish for.

  • @ArchangelBoab you mean there is chance that he will marry me?! SCORE!

  • @cantsaycindy I like your positive, upbeat style. Kick on CSC.

  • @ArchangelBoab Thanks :)!!!! CSC?

  • @cantsaycindy Can't. (C) Say (S) Cindy. (C).

  • elvis is great,he really looks like he can't stand up,great music, thanks for download...

  • Steve's dance moves from 1:20 to 1:25 are KILLER! :-)

  • Elvis Costello is HOT!!!!

  • Get Happy was a great album. His fourth winner on a row. I loved 'Trust' too.

He was the man in late 70s and early 80s.

  • THis makes me want to sing what's so funny about peace love and understanding

  • great dancing, wish i could dance that good.

  • drugs rule

  • @killingjokefan1 drugs mule...That Renault five looks suspicious at 0.85

  • is he eating spaghetti at 1:17?

  • This video kind of reminds me of " Fiesta" by the Pogues. Same zany sense of irreverent fun.

  • I don't know who his bassist was but he was very good in all the "Attractions" albums..

  • @jwahh Bruce Thomas- and yes, he was excellent! I think that Elvis and the Attractions was a match made in heaven. They also included Pete Thomas (not related) on drums and Steve Nieve on keyboards. All three were excellent and even though I do love "My Aim is True" (Alison- need I say more?) it wasn't until the second album where he was joined by the Attractions that h got his own sound and it all got together...

  • @kloppedeklop SERIOUSLY ??? I always thought they were BROTHERS!!!!!!!

  • @MsGORGONS Yep- seriously :)

  • More interesting than the typical EC video. Is that a Renault "Le Car" (or did they call it the R5 in Europe) at 0:29?? At this point, his glasses really did make him look a little like the guy in the "Six Flags" commercials.

  • @lrd9999 you are right...R5 that;s a pre-lecar Le Car broke the yank market whereas in tgruth it brobably broke nothing but some bes[ectaled self0important French Wanker at Ranault probably thought the nasty brand cracked it. Follow SUICIDE watch in Ranault branch in the last year or so...staff jumpingoffwindows.PEOPLE WAKE UP u don't have to GOTOWORK ANYMORE. Having said that R5 was sweet and fast but not furious. Granny's car. Gd with petrol consumption but no space for fatties at the back.

  • @MsGORGONS To my knowledge, it's the only car to have a different wheelbase on the left and right sides (supposedly to smooth out the ride). That puts it a notch ahead of the AMC Pacer (longer door for the passenger side than the drivers side) on the novelty scale.

  • Comment removed

  • @badferret1 Justin Beiber is my perfect cousin.

  • @MsGORGONS thats great but his music is pretty manufactured like he's come of the pop assembly line most most artists now days

  • @badferret1 i was talking about justin beiber not elvis costello

  • @badferret1 I thought you did for a minit. I was joking about Bieber...not a greta deal for or against him...just wish he wouldgo away. Industry too crass...ppl should purchase straight from the makers when they produce themself LIVE - teenagers are stoopid or maybe they always were. ta. Ms Gorgons

  • @MsGORGONS your pretty right music has slid backwards sinse the accountants & pr puppets have taken over

  • Two minutes of perfect pop.

  • 1:42 Drunken Englishman in spectacles with invisible maracas!

  • i wish all men could dress like these guys

oh and i wish all men looked like elvis costello, that would be cool too.

  • the commentary for this video is hilarious with elvis. He's just laughing about how they got dancing lessons and still couldn't dance.

  • Are they dancing at The Eagle's Nest? O.o

  • The Attractions play a lot better than they dance.

  • Thank You RichVee de de the good stuff

  • Elvis and the Attractions all dancing? Fantastic!

  • There's also a great version of this with Elvis & Bruce Springsteen, check it out.

  • This was one of my favourite fast ones of his, and he's so cute here, thanks for the memories.

  • Thanks alot!! 1 for my favourites...regards.

  • Elvis Never gets Old. Too Cool for Words!

  • Elvis's influences are all over history, what intellengent & talented song writing and performance.

  • @backtoharmony - of course this was originally by Sam & Dave on Stax. He makes it his own though.

  • man o man there r some right Dumarse comments here...keep em koming, kinder!

  • He was trying to emulate the Temptations, lol. Awesome

  • hey he WAS the Temptations..! :-)

  • wtfh it looks like he's crippeld

  • @missmilliz On the dvd comments he said he was totally drunk when thrown in front of the camera

  • Love the bassline!

  • Bruce Thomas is so solid and funky on EVERY Costello track he plays on!

  • Awesome. Who was the choreographer?

  • just to think, they rehearsed that dancing.... shudder......

  • hes the master of spoofs...

  • awesome video

  • Didn't lke him as much back in the day, now I appreciate his music.

  • anyone else see the resemblance to KiTH's Kevin MacDonald?

  • A little.....he doesnt have the googly eyes that Kevin has.I saw Elvis waliking out of Long And McQuade a while back.he looks like such a bum these days.He dressed sharp as a tack back then.Cant help to think there was a little "mod"influence there.

  • i love elvis costello.

that's all im gonna say. :]

  • Yes I was thinking that... brilliant choreography! lol!

  • Check out Elvis Costello's new program, the one where he talks to Smokey Robinson, for insight into the dancing. The clip he showed on the program cracked me up; so thanks for providing the whole video. I loved it!

  • Brilliant, I wish i could dance like that.

  • ALL GOOD DANCERS

    ELVIS LIVES

  • GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!

  • My sister gave me all her Elvis Costello records for helping her paint her house. I nearly died! I couldn't understand why she would give them away, but hey! I wasn't gonna argue!

  • well done lads great dancing

    great song

  • Get Happy! never got enough love. Almost thirty years later and it still remains my favorite Elvis Costello album. Great video.

  • I just love Elvis Costello..Thanks for posting this gem of a video and song..

    5******!!

  • SUPERB WHAT A SINGER DANCER

  • Ilove his dancing and how he's eating throughout the whole video lol

  • Hoorrribble dancing! But it always puts a smile on my face! Kudos to the choreographer!

  • Hahahahahaha, yes indeed!!! I think that's what they meant. :)

  • Cool video AND MUSIC! Thanks for sharing this one!

  • Rocks pee-wee Herman. But is he Jewish?

  • Wahey a Renault mk1 at 0.25. my first car how brill!!

  • A Renault 5 mk 1. I had one of these as my first car too. Leaned round the corners somewhat!

  • yeah leaned round the corners but hey, none of my friends knew what it was when I had one in 1996!! I have fond memories of 'Ralph' if the corners were anticipated he could keep up with the rest x

  • sorry! talking about my MK1 Renault 5 1980 model x

  • Very funny!

  • Hello, Rich Vee... I REALLY enjoyed this video! Thanks for posting!

  • So much cooler then than now.

  • Get Happy!! is on of my favorite albums.

  • I miss the early 80's, good times they were.

    ...still have this LP

  • I can't stand up for being drunk off my ass,so i'm sitting down playing this on the bass(probably pretty bad right now)

  • This is so Goofy

  • thank you for this and the others i love elvis costello got a few cd's but havent seen these videos for so long.

  • Elvis Costelly rocks! I Love this and all his videos. I love the true 80s new wave theme. The tight pants, big glasses, the shoes, but no skinny leather tie. And the beloved french fry as if he is saying ill have fries with that.

  • "I've tasted the bitterness of my own tears" Just love this song, it never gets old :O)

  • The 2-Tone single that got away. Originally recorded to go on 2 Tone but his record company took the hump and threatened to ruin him (like Magnet did to Bad Manners).

Still, he produced the first Specials album, so will always be a god to rude boys everywhere.

  • Spectacle, has that started already? In Canada at least.

  • Elvis is fast approaching the same level of coolness as Frank Zappa. His new programme 'Spectacle" is superb! Mrs. Costello rocks, err I mean Jazzes too.

  • Sorry, bellamybean & NowPleaseReadThis, I have to disagree. His excellent playing aside, Bruce Thomas is a backstabber and a lunatic. Elvis was right to fire him (twice!) & Davey Faragher is a fine replacement. Anyway, I'm more inclined to feel that Steve Nieve is the real heart of the Attractions. Either way, I guess the point is The Attractions were a great band (in an era of many not-so-great bands). But I like The Imposters just as much. Give them a chance & listen to Momofuku. You'll see.

  • elvis sure can dance

    also what a voice

  • THIS IS AWESOME!! What memories and hes still the tops!

  • I see that my choreography lessons went down really well....................

  • @khymlhyn It helps that they were high at the time! lol!

  • @khymlhyn good one ha ha ha ha ha ha

  • @ExodusPessoa - your welcome !!

  • Thanks for sharing this great song!

  • He has awesome music

  • i love his quirky dancing!

  • love his voice!

  • so awesome

  • yeah sure, cuz everyone that listens to elvis is def. so simple-minded and not a free thinking indie, new wave liberal right??? NOOO OF COURSE NOT

  • you should go fuck your mother thats a good exercise for a complex mind such as yours

  • I <3 the Dancing attractions lawl

    great song.

  • Teddy Boy look?? OR Mod I don't know. Elvis Is so underated. Hey what if the Jam and Elvis Had made a single together lol!!

  • I love Elvis Costello with all of my heart and that dancing just fills it up even more.

  • I got to see him in Chicago in 1980 at the classic old Uptown Theater (RIP) with Squeeze on the Old Chinas tour. Great stuff.

  • At 1:40 he starts skanking like he's in a "Madness"video.......Maybe "one step beyond".

  • @ pandurate and 1mexi23:

Never knew Beavis and Butthead had Youtube accounts.

  • Wow that's witty.

Now get off the Internet and go do your homework.

  • goreography is invincible!!!!!just love it

  • i seriously reccommend getting The Right Spectacle DVD, and listening to Elvis' commentary of the videos they did in this time period--it's self depricating and hilarious.

HE'S BRILLIANT, i love this song.

  • Costello Is The Best Dancer Ever!!

  • It just doesn't get any cool then him!!!

  • I loooooooove this song. It's a shame that we don't produce this kind of artists in these days!!! The really good ones are very rare today.

    and his music

    hes amazing

  • classic

  • look at Elvis cut a rug!

damn those are sharp dance moves

  • brilliant. love this song

  • raised in Birkenhead/Liverpool from Irish ancestry

  • where were you in 1958 reader?

  • elvis costello is not irish, he's english! not that it matters, the guy is a legend!

  • One of the UK's greatest song writers. So many great memories. Should be knighted if he isn't already. This is the real Elvis, forget Presley.

  • one of the WORLDS greatest song writers, but he is Irish and will only get an honorary knighthood, if he ever does, and he should.

This reminds me of OK GO in their back garden video

  • EEK He's English!!

  • My favorite 2 minutes in all of rock n' roll.

  • loved e.c. for a long, long time..saw him for the first time in Texie in '83 and last time in '04. We've *almost* forgiven him for canceling his Montana tour on Delivery Man.....*almost*...

  • I learnt most of my dance moves of costello very original around that time but developed them more. I laughed at this video as it reminded me back then, still do some of his moves now. Thanks for the video.

  • they dance the same way that black comedians dance when they want to make fun of white guys dancing. hilarious! (i dance like that too)

  • Looks like theyre mocking Madness.

  • Get Happy is my favorite Elvis L.P' This is a cover from Sam and Dave's original from the midsixties

  • One of my favorite Costello songs! Love it! Such a funny video!

  • back in the 80's i was walking down Tottenham court road

and guess who walked right past me??....yep! the man himself.

I was so shocked i didn't even say hello.

  • Same thing happened to me in Toronto mate. How foolish were we?

  • anybody know the filming location of this fab video????

    this elvis is king!!!

  • italy

    hence the dish of scungilli

  • This video along with Love for Tender were film in France. As Elvis says in the commentary of his dvd "The right Spectacle"
