WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOA! I wouldn't go that far. Not to say this is not G-R-E-A-T great, but I still wouldn't go as far as to saying it's better than anything The Beatles did.
remember seeing the early version of this on rutland weekend televison never thought it would go to a whole film i love the guy in new orleans who said he started the everly bothers frank sinatra and the rutles course he was lieing hes always lieing love piggey in the middle great piss take of i am the walrus also ouch or help and let it rot oh yes the rutle core thing is great with stuff nicked from the building in the back ground thats george by the way the interviewer
Nope. Total silly rumour. Paul couldn't sue the Rutles because the Rutles are fictional and the music was not written by Paul nor any of the Beatles for that matter.
Oh thanx!! I seriously believed the "Paul sued the Rutles" thing.. and it really ruined his image in my mind... But now I love him like I did before! YAYYY! =]
Eric Idle said that once he was at an awards ceremony at the same table with Paul and it was decidedly "frosty." Apparently Paul later changed his mind about "The Rutles" because Linda thought they were funny as 'ell. Sir Paul always has been a bit touchy ya know, bog love 'em. FWIW John loved "The Rutles."
That's right, and apparently John also said that "Get up and Go!" was too close to "Get Back!" and Innes better watch himself or Paul might just sue him. I'm sure John was being a bit facetious about that as he was wont to do, but that may be the source of the suit rumor. In "All you Need is Cash" there is a scene where the "boring" narrator details how all The Rutles sued each other, and Stig even accidentally sued himself! LOL!!!!
eric as paul is perfect. must have been quite embarrising for the real paul to watch this is the 70s. facts anyone??? i just love eric. he only got cuter in the 70s. well, now he;'s old, but he used to be a cutie!!!!! hahahahaha i love the rutles. i dont know anyone who's ever heard of them, but i do hahahaha
Fave song by the rutles =D

The Rutles remains the best anthology of the Fabs, in the same way that "24 Hour party People" beats "Control".

It's strange that Paul has never commented on The Rutles...why is that ? Ringo is such a sentimental guy...he's quite sweet.

Oh wow, I never heard that...
I heard somewhere though that John thought it was so funny he refused to give back the tapes than Innes sent him or something like that...

For you Bluebook freaks, the correct citation would be: Ron Nasty, Out of Me Head (1967).

For the record:
George was slightly involved in the project.
Ringo liked the early parts, but towards the end it reminded him too much of some sad times.
John kept the preview tape he was sent, and warned that Paul might sue over Get Up And Go.
Paul has never admitted the Rutles exist.

The Rutles were very very important. Just look at how influencial they were on the music of say, The Beatles. No Rutles, no Beatles, simple as that.
