McGoohan was actually born in the US. As for anti-American Brits, it's a questions of what you mean by that term. Many people hate what the US government is doing but they don't hate the average American at all. Governments love to confuse such issues and imply that criticism of policy equates to hatred of the whole country and it's people. Don't fall for that propaganda.
