The reason why you "feel" higher when you hold the hit in longer is because while holding your breath there is a lack of oxogen to your brain making you feel like head, that + the effect of the THC makes you feel really high at least for a short period of time but yes it does not actually make you higher

I used to ghost my hits, but seriously it makes you lose your lung capacity big time and you'll cough up shit from time to time. It's bad for your lungs, 3-5 seconds and exhale. Anymore and you're just letting the tar stick to your lungs. Plus it just kills brain cells cause you aren't getting any oxygen(simulating being higher). Keep toking guys and choose your destiny!
