no way, you can't compare kobain with this guy...this is silverchair's real sound because early records where just a copy of nirvana and pearl jam. if you compare this "own" material with nirvana or pearl jam, i think they are a lot steps back from them. nirvana and pearl jam marked a generation
i agree with you agentareenge, i think kurt never had the chance to heal himself (side note: i dont think it was suicide), while daniel johns has healed himself. i do agree that if cobain would have survived, he would of changed up his sound just as johns has.
p.s. kurt cobain was a musical genius in his own way. i still have nirvana love. silverchair just doesnt remind me of them at all. if anyone has an opposing opinion, i would like to see your take on the matter :)

Is it just me or is that chorus basically the same chord progression as "Brown Sugar" by the Rolling Stones? The Dandy Warhols ripped them off too with their song "Bohemian Like You". I guess it's a pretty good riff. I think maybe the last chord is different, but it's still really close.

I haven't heard one good live performance during Diorama. His voice...SUCKED most notably shown on half of that LIFAS dvd. His voice is awesome here. I love it.

wow, I can't believe, I'm so sad. Silverchair actually wrote a song I don't like. I've liked everything, every album, every song, every live song I've heard, including other new ones like if you keep losing sleep, young modern, and sleep all day (which isn't supposed to be on the record, but I loved that song). But this song sucks, and I'm bummed about it.
You know what? I thought that the first time I heard it, but then I forced myself to watch it a few more times. It's grown on me a little bit since. Hopefully the album will deliver it in a better way. I'm going to be positive about it, because like you, I haven't disliked a silverchair song ever before.
In my opinion I think this song musically is mediocre. If you compare it to Emotion sickness or Across the night they're just way better songs in my mind...MUSICALLY, not talkin bout the lyrics

even so, he smokes normal cigarettes and that DOES screw up your voice and you cant deny that. Explain to me where his voice has gone then? why he cant sing like he could during diorama anymore?

I haven't heard one good live performance during Diorama. His voice...SUCKED most notably shown on half of that LIFAS dvd. His voice is awesome here. I love it.

What he sounded amazing during Diorama. no matter what he smoked, pot or cigarettes, it for sure changed his voice, in your opinion whether it was for better or worse. Anybody have that article about him on his smoking pot period?

o no im not sure if im gunna like the new album cuz ive heard 3 of thier songs and i dont really liek them much i loved dioroma i was hoping the new cd was gunna be like it since they were now going down the softer kinda music but this is just kinda weird....but i still love silverchair

I think this song rocks. It's raw, the chorus is the catchiest thing they've done for a ROCK song yet!!!! And I love the funk ness to it.

wow, I can't believe, I'm so sad. Silverchair actually wrote a song I don't like. I've liked everything, every album, every song, every live song I've heard, including other new ones like if you keep losing sleep, young modern, and sleep all day (which isn't supposed to be on the record, but I loved that song). But this song sucks, and I'm bummed about it.

You know what? I thought that the first time I heard it, but then I forced myself to watch it a few more times. It's grown on me a little bit since. Hopefully the album will deliver it in a better way. I'm going to be positive about it, because like you, I haven't disliked a silverchair song ever before.

In my opinion I think this song musically is mediocre. If you compare it to Emotion sickness or Across the night they're just way better songs in my mind...MUSICALLY, not talkin bout the lyrics

daniel made clear that the new songs aren't meant to be lyric heavy like diorama/neon ballroom. and they're not mediocre anyway, very in line with a lot of older classic rock songs.
