Your're right, i have 2 potato guns. 1 is a real crap piece of shit, i made it out of god knows what, and without 2 rolls of duck tape, it would be held together by gravity. Then i built the second one, out of thick gray pvc pipe, and used a 10 liter garden sprayer as the combustion chamber, put in a fan to mix the gases correctly, and a dual BBQ sparker to ignite, but it only shoots 1.6x times further than my crap ass gun.

a substitute for hair spray is fresh scent, right gaurd, or old spice deoderant which are way better than hairspray because hairspray gums up the chamber and it slows down the potato

Don't take any shortcuts. Research the 'net if you want one of these. Use Sch 40 or 80 PVC, not the black. The Black is for drains and sewers and is ABS. ABS is NOT rated for pressure.

Try to break a piece of each with a hammer. Also pipe marked DW for drain or waste won't hold pressure either. Schedule 40 PVC is rated for 280 PSI. (The only PVC failures have been schedule 20 or drain pipe!) The Hairspray blast only generates 60psi.

Use a piezoelectric igniter unit like from a refillable Butane lighter you know the long ones used to light candles and fireplaces and grills, hack one of those apart youll find one of those igniter units inside, the same as what these dudes used in their spud gun
