  • Oakland police are REDCOATS, fireing on US patriots....in common purpose with Bin Laden....Fire at a US marine......

Tax refusal NOW....take back your country or do the Brits have to show you how? (2 churchmen already resignned in support of the 99% here)

  • Did You Know?

The Hartwell family, prosperous farmers, owned and operated the Hartwell Tavern. The Hartwells’ house doubled as a tavern, serving travelers to and from Boston. Living history demonstrations provide a glimpse of life at the time of the Revolution.

  • So it was because of the weapons they used that soldiers on both sides would just stand around between shots? When you look at it through modern eyes, it all looks so boring...

  • They were all British at the time. It was the Milita men and the Regulars, they were all British.

  • @AmericaStandsStrong1 up till the signing of the declaration

  • @xxuncexx No, at Meriam's Corner they became Americans.

  • I fort the British won that battle

  • @covman23 they did kinda of but they lost more men and never got the arsenal of weapons of concord so it wasnt worth it but they still drove the minute men back

  • This video makes me as proud if not more than any other modern patriot but don't forget that if we use such hurtful words against our FORMER enemy Great Britain we are no better than they were as our enemies.

  • I agree. However, it was far more plitical. Washington was no fool. He knew he needed to win a convincing 'conventional' war against the British to draw in the other European powers on America's side. Trenton was a beginning but Saratoga was a turning point.

  • fucking jealous brits they had everything now have nothing england is joke in the rest of the worlds eyes the only people that think england is still a power house are the british sad all the british army is good at these last 200 years is saying i surrender;) viv la france

  • @jcolossale21

Fuck off you CUNT!!!! If it wasn't for the fucking french, you'd still be fuck all! Yeah, Viv la France!!!!

  • @Redcoat66 go fuck yourself euro trash

  • @Redcoat66 dont forget the british had the hessian army fighting for them and still lost sad

  • @jcolossale21 Compare British Military victories to French... see who has won more and who surrendered more. Here is a hint... its not Britain. We did pretty well at beating the French in more than one war.

BTW What was France doing during ww2? O yeah drinking coffee with the Germans while we were getting bombed. I know there are thousands of British buried in France doing what you couldn't do... fight. Its the french that are known for surrendering, french rifle for sale... only dropped once!

  • I never knew everyone in those days were so fat lol

  • funny how wars that happened 100s of years ago can start a "comment war" on a video on You Tube about how one country sucks or something, just enjoy the re-enactment and put the past behind us :D

  • @starshipSuperNova it's actually been about 300 years lol

  • @Geomyfighter yeah if you want to go into specifics lol, and thanks for not commenting rudely, i thought for sure i was gonna get crap for it

  • @ILOVETHE1700s "Oh just shut up": Typical Euro-lib response.

That is why I'll follow the thoughts of Jefferson over those of Robespierre any day. And, AND, without resorting to personal attacks.

  • don't fire until you see the white of their eyes!!!

  • what a rush ..what a huge rush!!!! i love it love it ..to run shooting and acting this fantastic battle again!!!!

"the shot hear around the world " this music si like balm to me :) ah nothing like the colonial days and its History!!! i shiver ..ill be there again monday the 19th!!! running round again such a rush!!!! :)

  • Quite an authentic re-enactment. It's great that people go to all that trouble. Interesting comments too.

  • American war if independence was a British civil war. With one half been backed up with at the time the largest navy in the world. FRANCE.

British navy was at the time still been refitted because they had been rotting in harbour after the seven-year war with France.

Declaration of independence was signed 2nd July 1776.

In 1763 the average Briton paid 26 shillings a year in taxes. Americans one shilling. You were rich.

It all started with a few people who wanted to have power.

  • It was no civil war because it did not involve the geographical region of Britain. It involved a colony which had been increasingly comprised of Dutch, Germans, Scotch, Scotch Irish, and Scandinavians. At that time in history, Welsh, Scotch, and Irish were considered to be foreigners to the English, and to Britain. The British have had a civil war and a revolution, War of the Roses, and The Glorious Revolution. There is a difference.

  • Yes it was. Ps THERE was not many large numbers of Dutch, Germans, Scandinavians.

But there were more Indians.!! And French.

  • thats actually not true Americans paid more

  • Boston tea party. If you go there they tell you non truths about the situation.

What makes you sure your American history books are telling you the truth?

Vietnam was a lie. Iraq was a lie. Most of your written history is made up.

    The Bible is a lie.

  • @britempire Long love the British empire.

I currently live in Australia. and i plan to move to Canada. I hailed from England its self.

I shall forever live under the crown.

  • @swiftarrow01 I think in this present time (the best of British) doesn’t live here any moor. Only in small pockets of descent people that read history and know what it means to be British.

The best of British (decency, and honour) and Wright minded people lives in the Commonwealth. I hope the future stays bright for you all.

  • Solders were promised land and money for there victory. They, your new government renade on the deal.

What maters is NOW not then. We are friends.

  • wasn't the British strategy to go in blocks and the front row crouch while the second row stood and both fired, then they fell back to reload and the next 2 did the same?

  • @willtothe5 - Europian stratagy at the time was extremely complex. The British would fire 99% of the time in 2 ranks, wate untill the charging enemy were within 40-50 yards then fire in any number of patterns. The British were the best infantry in the world and could fire in very complex patterns extremely fast which would require massive ammounts of disciplin and courage.

  • @willtothe5 - the most important and powerful aspect on the battlefield would have been the infantry. The tacticts would change mainly depending on the enemy cannon or cavalry. But I doupt the rebel armies at the time had either. The British won so many of the battles in the revolution because they could simply aim better, reload much faster, had more experienced officers, and had the disciplin to stand.

And no, the British would stand and reload, not run back and then reload.

  • The men would aim, turn away, then shoot. So they sparks would not blind them. We learned about this in American History. :)

  • @Jehseecauh what sparks?

  • We were lucky the British were too concerned fighting a war in Europe to worry to much about the Americas

  • I am going to build a time machine, go back to Lexington, and tell them not to bother. It was all for naught. America is dying. America is lost.

  • Not if people like you and me try to save it.

  • now we are friendlies so

    drop the criticism!!!!!!!!

  • Not 100% correct. Most of the British troops to arrive in the Americas at the beginning of the war were prisoners forced into service.

  • same with the civil war only slaves where forced into service by the confederates right

  • Slaves were not forced into service by the Confederates. Tens of thousands of slaves and former slaves volunteered for service in the Confederate Army. The South was their home too and the Northern Armies were destroying said home. Good book to read on that is "Black Confederates" and "Myths of American Slavery"

  • What people often forget is that the british troops where, at the time, some of the best trained in the world. One of the main reasons they eventually lost was due to the fact that most of the british generals where arrogant aristocrats, who stayed at home in luxary and didnt actually know what the hell was going on. Wheras the american generals had actual battlefield experiance.

If the british where actually led by competant generals the war would have been very short indeed....

  • Cornwallis was one of Britains best Generals at the time. He also was with his troops all the time. The British were up against a more determined army that knew the terrain better.

  • Ok, I'll rephase that then. Mybe not the generals on the field, but the people in charge back home definatly where, well, most of them at least. U're right about Cornwallis though, seemes I typed before I thought. lol.

  • PLUS they used guerilla warfare which the british have never experienced this type of battle. They were uset to the typical line battles

  • Thats not entirely true, the british troops took aim and then looked the other way witch would throw off there shots and did not use cover, (they did this because of the exposition caused by the fireing cap) where as the colonials took aim and used cover. one more thing referring to Lexington & Concord we dropped all the brit officers in the first volley and that totally messed up the commanded structure.

  • Firing caps wasnt used in large numbers untill 1830, they looked the other way beacuse of when the flint hit the metal it would create a big explosion.

  • uh yeah thats what i said I was saying that the reinactors are not looking away

  • Not at all true. Firstly they did not use caps on their muskets, secondly they were not trained to look away. Wasted shots was wasted cost. If you have a clue how to use your flintlock then the flash should be no issue. I have been reenacting all my life.

  • Exactly, you were put on a charge for looking away as you fired

  • The fact is, there are various reasons for the British Army maintaining its 'Redcoats' even though Patriot Militia adept at guerilla warfare (considered cowardly by the nations like Great Britain) started to take a heavy toll on conspicously uniformed British. In the chaos of the musket line battles, telling friend from foe by colour of dress was important. Also, twas a hallmark of the pride and swagger of the British Empire - red is expensive, and red wants to be seen, and shot at - more glory.

  • You are half right. Red TYPICALLY was more expensive. But Red started becoming a common dye for uniformed soldiers in the British army during the final English Civil War, the red is derived from the madder root which can be found growing naturally in all corners of the British Isles. It was cheap and readily available.

  • I was there today. It was really hardcore. it's too bad i didn't record it.

  • I love the volley of fire at 1:04

  • The British had the best camo. lol

  • :D lol

  • the british were the camo experts red and white marching shoulder to shoulder playing drums and flutes in open fields

  • Sarcasm? well there was no idea of camo and tactical fighting back then was there lol altho the official first type of skirmish fighting etc was when john moore started his British army with Riflemen included among the ranks.

  • THere was tactical camo back then why do you think the Americans are wearing white unis

  • yes white is very stealthy in a woodland terrain...

  • Actually they where white so that when they discharge their musket they blend in with the smoke it gives off. Don't be an asshole if you dont know wat your talking about

  • touche

  • Umm nope, white is just cheap, they did'nt have that much money, (what money they did have came from the french) so they could'nt afford any different colour

  • Some of the British troops used the camouflage idea, some of the light infantry wore Buff leather waistcoats with large pockets sewn on for their powder and shot, they discarded the conspicous redcoat and white cross belts, and wore felt brimmed hats instead of the usual headgear. They worked rather well, but there was never enouhg of them to make a big difference

  • @rtggeorge They did! They were actually the first to use what would become modern camouflage. The British Riflemen, during the Napoleonic Era, were clothed in green garb with black hard rubber buttons (which didn't reflect sunlight, like brass).

  • @rtggeorge Red dye was inexpensive and easy to produce, that's why the British army worn it. Firearms were also every inaccurate in those days, so "camo" wouldn't have been necessary anyway.

  • @40AcreMule

Partly true. It also hid some of the gore. The point was the enemy was to see you coming. Strande today, but that it was the way they thought then. However, some British units wore green and were very progessive in the American Indian way of war.

  • @Redcoat66 The merits of the "American Indian way of fighting" is an old myth. If the American colonists could have won the war fighting in the "Indian way" there would have been no need for Baron von Steuben to train colonists in European linear tactics. Men fighting in open "Indian style" formations like skirmishers cannot defeat an army of men in massed ranks who can generate greater firepower.

  • @40AcreMule i wish th didnt use linear tactics at the civil war so stupid if you have a rifle thats accurate byond a mile why did you stand in aline go tot he enemy at 80 yards just to trade off a couple volleys i understand here with smootebore muskets yes you need that line to gain more accuracy but when it came to the civil war you dont anymore the soliders on the front would find out quickly but the generals wouldnt know till after gettysburg

sorry to be off topic a bit

  • @rtggeorge camo wasnt needed back then

  • @rtggeorge In the words of the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy... their uniforms create an "SEP" field (for those who don't know, that's "Somebody Else's Problem")

  • @rtggeorge

    Did You Know?

The Hartwell family, prosperous farmers, owned and operated the Hartwell Tavern. The Hartwells’ house doubled as a tavern, serving travelers to and from Boston. Living history demonstrations provide a glimpse of life at the time of the Revolution.

  • We beat the British in some open battles as well. Princeton and Cowpens for example. Monmouth was a tactical draw but a strategic USA victory so we beat the British at their own game as well. Tough war, a lot of hardships but we prevailed.

  • Just to add that I copped off with an American girl over here in London last summer and we had a great time! I love Americans now!

  • How much did the Dr. cost ?

  • hehe, nice try, actually I'm an HSV-II carrier (herpes) though I rarely get attacks. I was upfront with this woman about it though, and she was cool about it.

Well our little tryst was 8 months ago and I`ve not had any symptoms, so I'm probably in the clear!

I was so sad when she went back to America... :-(

  • Ironically they love British accents and British people in America now! Weird, huh?

  • I didn't know the yanks formed rank and file at Lexington, I always thought they hid behind trees and shot off their rifles at their own countrymen, Patriots my arse, Traitors to the last man.

  • lol...whine bout it...the ones who hid were mostly militiamen ...there was an army called the continental army which ranked up like an army...

  • the continental army wasn't raised in 1775 mate, An even that army ran away from Howe and Cornwallis until the professtional french turned up and trained them. The revolutional war was the first in history to prove that by using guerilla tactics you could win a war, The British didn't have a chance to win that war, It would of took 1million soldiers to tie down all the towns and cities and they just didn't have the resource.

  • the army was set up on June 14, 1775, cause Washington was put in charge of the army a day later. it wasnt ALL guerrilla tactics...alot of it was fair and square...like i said...it was mostly militiamen that did the dirty fighting, And the militiamen didnt need any French help...they could out shoot a British soldier any day.

  • dont forget LaFayette,Rochambeau etc and the French Navy .....

  • Americans dont like to mention French Involement because and for the right reasons believe they and they alone won their independents. The power of the french navy at that time was greater that britains, France had lost its n.american empire just 20 years before and its navy didnt have to defend outposts like the British and had the abiility to hunt in greater numbers being a united fleet, this fleet blockaded british transport roots into america and cut british supplies, 1 key reason of victory

  • British won Lexington, we won Concord. We had to EARN FULL French support. We did after our decisive victory at Saratoga. You were close to winning the war. British outnumbered us at times like at battle like Long Island. The French needed to know we had a chance at winning before they offered full support, most of all the groundbattles were fought between USA and British forces. The French navy and supplies were crucial however. Britain had allies as well, German Hessians, etc.

  • we did we go head to head with the British at Lexington, we hid behind trees, barns, fences, etc at Concord and the British had to go through a gauntlet all the way back to Boston. The whole Massachusetts countryside was stirred.

  • yeah, we had only used guerrilla tactics as a secondary strategy once we were able to face the British head-on. Early on, we only had local militia like in the video.

  • Oh my God !!!!! The British are coming, the British are coming!!!!!

  • American minutemen will win everytime,

I wish we could get them to stop the illegals.

  • what's the point of this when no one is pretending to die?

  • You're expected to use your imagination.

  • okay

  • Maybe there were children watching. It has to be safe for families :s But if it was me I would definatly make an adult version of it all.

  • the movie versions were way better

  • from what I hear, there are pretend deaths in the official reanactments.... it's possible that it just doesn't show up on this video.

  • I live here.

  • Buckethead still believes the British head stumps fired the first shot, and that the disembodied rebels were innocent on the gory case-buckethead

  • man i would be british just so i can wear a cool uniform like that

  • you should be austrian, they had the coolest uniforms in that time....white jackets, white pants.

"we weren't brave, but we were posh" (austrian officer after the battle of the nations in 1813)

    ;-)

  • History is funny, is´nt it? Nowadays (about 240 years later)the British are much more democratic and open mindet than the US.

  • I wouldn't really be talking there you nazi fuck. Your country-men are the ones that started two World Wars and kill millions upon millions of people in both of them. So you have no room to talk.

  • You call me nazi?

Shall i return Indian Killer? No. i will not.

  • you cant compare killing indians to the amount of people your country-men killed. The numbers arent even close.

  • good english are the best army in the world ameria beat them damn respect to u america

  • Yeah, but the only real reason we beat them is because the French had been giving us weapons, ammo, and supplies. The Brits also had to keep a large force stationed at home because the tensions between them and the French were running high, and they couldn't afford to wage a war on two very long distance fronts. Interesting thing how that happened :)

  • Very goo video and thank you for posting it. take the time to check out libertytreeradio on

youyube. The militia of 1775 were a combination of experienced and new militiamen.

The Regulars had trie several times to "sneak"

out of Boston and their trip on April 18th was no better than the others. One if by land, two if by sea...Hmmmm so much for"resistance

is futile,etc,etc...post more as you have time

    Mark Gregory,,Koernke GDW!

  • i luved there where some historical parts wrong but thats expected in reenactments i luved its part of my favs

  • FAKE.

This is not real its fake.

You can hear somebody in the background.

    BEWARE FAKE

  • lol

  • The British had Light Infantry flanking units that were very much trained in North American fighting. These Light Infantry were created by Wolfe during the French and Indian War. The biggest misconception of Concord is that the British were just sitting ducks and did nothing but march foward. Their flanking units were hitting the Minutemen in the woods and fields surrounding Lincoln and Menotomy. There were just too many Minutemen though and retreating is never easy.

  • your an idiot, we're American's today because we beat the british.

  • Yeah, if you joined the British, you would've fallen in the ranks FILLED with murderers, thieves and other criminals from the streets of London who wanted to have their crimes forgiven, and most of the enlisted soldiers couldn't even read or write!

  • Not all of them were murderes and some were thieves of some kind as all of them were practically born into poverty. Lol not just London, Sheffield, Birmingham etc. Crime forgiven? No they ran away to the army to not be caught, only time the Police would chase up a soldier taking the kings shilling would be if he killed a man of class. No they could not read or write as education was a privalidge of the upper class.

  • umm thats cool i guess. they should have yoused single shot paintball guns in stead. that would ba AWSOME!!!!

  • thats stupid uidoit pain ball guns bet u dont even care 4 history

  • They are actually using a special type of muzzle loading paintball gun in some reanactments because it has around the same range and acuracy as a musket would

  • Under the circumstances the British Light troops did a perfectly admirable job. Even then the Americans had a dread of casualties on the order that any other nation would have accepted as commensurate with an operation.

  • This actually happened... read some history chap.

  • Very good video I wearing Grenadiers uniform but Austrian from age 1798 last time a wear it was on austerlitz 2007 (very good battle 800 soldiers was been there) . VIVAT KAISER FRANZ 1 and grettings from Czech Republic (from 59. infatry regiment Leopold Joseph Maria von Daun later Langois)

  • I just went to the lexington green reenactment this past monday. I was out there at 4am waiting. My family and I go every year. I love it. I'm already planning for next year.

  • I love going to Lexington, MA, and Concord, MA, on my time off. In the summer and spring time it is alot more beautiful and green. I suggest those who are planning to visit Massachusetts in the future to see Lexington and Concord. They are worth the trip trust me.

  • Nothing like good old American history!

  • I love this film! I think it has been done really well. I gives me very authentic look at the incident. Did you know that the opposition dressed in Continental uniforms at Parliment in protest against the war in America! I would argue that it was equally a second English civil war as a war of revolution in America. These wounds run deep! Would Cromwell have fought for Congress against the King? Discuss.

  • what?

  • king george was pretty much insane...it was his prime minister that was the tyrant. Many contemporary British even sympathized with the American colonists, at least until hostilities started.

  • yes they did.. under pressure from public they decided to recognize colonies also after giving the French a dam good thrashing at Saintes (De Grasse was captured... fucking asshole!!) in 1782...LOVE IT!

& giving the Spanish a red raw spanking at Gibraltar the following year.

  • uh, try december 7, 1941...the U.S. was attacked by Japan, we declared war on Japan, Germany declared war on us...and more importantly, the UK and USSR (mostly UK though) benefited enormously from the lend-lease program with the U.S. prior to our direct involvement in the war. As an American living in the UK right now though, I'm pretty sure I can say they aren't jealous of us though.

  • sorry I meant troops arriving on the front in North Africa AFTER we had won at Alamein. This was the 1st time US troops were in combat against western axis.

I'm not jealous in any way my friend as we won on our own at Battle of Britain in 1940 with British planes.

If anyone saved our ass it was the Soviets containing the German army.

  • USSR sorted out Germany

    UK sorted out Italy

    US sorted out Japan.

    I'll say no more.

  • Hey!, they missed the bit when the British wounded left behind were scalped. Nasty business war.

  • no they werent that was the native americans you idiot. And the native americans learned how to scalp from the spaniards.

  • This was a civil war! America was at war with iteslf! The concept of 'America' as we know it know did not exist! They were no the 'British', they were the King's men. They fought and were payed by the King. We do not see the concept of nationhood and nationalism until 1789! You were either for or against the 'Crown'.

  • United Empire Loyalists!

  • Great film! I am British and have keen interest in the first American war. This is actually really good. I presume the evil redcoats are Americans. I love the bit when the British round everybody up and burn them alive in the chirch...oh, sorry or was that the PATRIOT!!!!!

  • funny thing is that those "minute men" in the beggining are dressed like continrntal regulars c. 1780s

  • The guys dressed in white are the 1st Michigan Fife & Drum Corps who march in the park after the tactical demonstrations are over. They are not reenactors. Whoever made the film didn't know the difference, apparently.

  • Come on men, both of you must feel proud to be british or american... just enjoy the vid !!!

  • Plus you British are just mad that you lost the warand america became the most powerful country, but i will give it to you you did win more battles then us but we still won

  • What the fuck is worng with you; im arguing about Hollywood's historic accuracy and a wanker like you moaning and crying about a country who i don't give a toss about.

  • your a Britney arn't you!!!!

  • And you are a fucking yank YOU!!!!!
